I listen to plenty of Kylesa, Acid Bath and Eyehategod. I'll look up the rest, ISIS is a band I've been planning on checking out for quite the while

If you wanna check out ISIS, then I recommend their album Oceanic, or Wavering Radiant, or even better check out both of those albums.

You guys talk about sludge so much these days, but none of you ever seem to get into Grief. I know it's more sludge/crust than sludge metal, but c'mon, those riffs that make you want to inhale pure gasoline, those lyrics that make you wanna cut your own throat. Step it up you guys ('cept for you djenty, you are already a cool cat in my books).

Eh? Nandatte?

I'm starting to think I should listen to what some of you guys listen to so I don't look like such a fucking noob.

I'm like Mr. Noobface up in here.

Uhmnm... You should listen to stuff that you like because you like it, not so that you can try to fit in. It's better that you listen to entry level stuff and enjoy than to listen to obscure stuff just to look cool.

I don't mind Grief they're a pretty good band, though I haven't listened to much of their stuff

I don't think he was taking himself too seriously, it was just his own little funny way of saying "hey guys can you recommend some bands to me so that I can see how far I can expand my musical tastes"

Today hasn't been much of a music day, it being consumed by Deus Ex: Human Rev.

More Black Tongue? More Black Tongue.

Well, there's 362 pages and counting of potential stuff you'll like :3

Isolation was like funeral doom really I mean seriously

SO HEAVY IT WAS CRUSHING MY LEGS

I feel like you should listen to more Devin Townsend. Check out Addicted! if you haven't already.

A lot of the extreme metal I listen to doesn't seem that suited for you.

I'm in the mood for some first wave stuff right now. So I'm gonna post some.

Not sure what else to say about it, it's very raw sounding I guess...

I feel so stupid for not listening to these guys any earlier. *Sigh* I need to dig deeper into black metal. At least I'm making SOME progress.

Listening to Revenge before bedtime is quite the perfect lullaby, for some reason

Revenge is like a mix of death metal, black metal and noise. total cray.

A tip from the pros: Go Trve kvlt (1st wave/2nd wave) -> DSBM -> Crossover, but never atmospheric.

See, black death.

What's wrong with atmospheric? I'm not familiar with much besides first wave and second wave. i got into metal with the first wave.

Blackened speed metal lol

It goes against what black metal's supposed to be. It was never meant be well produced, melodic shoegaze-like shit that most of the USBM bands are turning it into. Black metal should be abrasive and noisy and raw and badly produced :V

If all black metal was like that, it'd get really stagnant. That'd be like if Miles Davis played bebop all his life or if Radiohead made seven more Pablo Honeys. You feel me?

Anyway, have some USBM that I honestly don't know how to feel about. It has really fake sounding symphonic elements, but the metal side of things is alright.

I see... hey do you know any good USBM bands? I really like Twilight's self titled and WITTR's Two Hunters.

Well here's some USBM, because why not?

Agalloch (specifically the early stuff)

Deafheaven

Desiderium

Liturgy

Krallice

Those are the ones I got.

I like Pablo Honey.

It's alright, but it doesn't compare to their later output in my book.

Really good stuff.

I guess I'll be posting some Melodic Death Metal here. Not a huge fan of the genre, but I really enjoy listening to stuff like this from time to time

Also, I'll post Skramz

Just put on some gritty-ass blackened death metal whatever from Tom Warrior's catalog. Wish me luck, because I'm not usually a fan of this stuff by any means.

I don't mind Atmospheric Black Metal, some of it sounds alright, though I definitely do agree that Atmospheric BM kind of does remove that image of Black Metal.

I like Pablo Honey.

WE DON'T CARE :V

Agreeing with this

I've been listening to Abiotic recently. Pretty run-of-the-mill technical deathcore.

Damn, I really need to get a job so I can afford all the CDs I wanna buy #firstworldproblems

I'm pretty sure being jobless and without money is a worldwide problem :V

Yay, finally someone else posted some Hellhammer. But I think Celtic Frost would be a better place to start. Oh, and it's pronounced "Keltic Frost" not "Seltic Frost". It's a common mistake.
