Pumpkinbot 69 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 I just did on World of Warcraft. A friend of mine said he wasn't a fan of the show, but didn't hate bronies., and I said he should watch an episode so he could say he actually watched it and didn't like it instead of just saying he didn't like it. I had him watch "Party of One" and he said it was "acceptible", though he likes Applejack and Rainbow Dash the most. He started to watch either "Over a Barrel" or "The Last Roundup", but said he didn't watch the entire episode because he's "had his fill of ponies for the week". Anyone else converted someone?
Yellow Diamond 7,574 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 A person I know on Steam contacted me, curious about my avatar which was (and still is) MLP: FiM related. He had heard about the show, so he took upon my encouragement to watch for himself. Now he and some of his friends are bronies, searching for MLP shirts to buy. I didn't play a huge hand in it, but I like to think I got the ball rolling. 1 Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te.
Gizmo 206 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 My co-worker fernando. I wore my Twilight sparkle shirt to work oneday and he said i was always talking about it too much and why watch it? So i told him just watch an episode and you'll see. He now owns a Rainbow dash shirt.
Skar 324 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 (edited) I had a friend who said he'd never watch an episode but tolerated my love for it. I always used pony jokes around him like when we were playing video games. (I have a fond memory of using the rocket launcher on MW3 and yelling "HATE DETECTED! FIRING ORIBITAL FRIENDSHIP CANNON!" before firing). He started watching youtube clips with me and then he started using pony jokes aswell. Then we started to brohoof. He then finally decided to watch the first episode and loved it. Now he watches new episodes every Saturday. His been trying to post onthe forums but his having to squeeze it in with his new XBox Games, MW3, and Work, so hasn't had much spare time. Also he kind of spilt water on his computer recently. Either way I converted him to a brony. Edited March 23, 2012 by Skar Sig made by Yours Truly. Want one of your own? PM Me! I've made some pretty awesome backgrounds. DJ MUFF1N D3RP 322 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 I've converted one guy from the Naruto forums. I have the clip with Derpy dropping heavy objects on Twilight in my siggy over there and I captioned it with "Derpy Hooves:4, Twilight Sparkle: 0". One of my friends watched it, became interested in the show, watched all the episodes in a week, added me on Facebook, and eventually became a member here on the forums! It's party time, ponies! Starshine 16,334 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 Never, ever, try to force ponies on someone, unless they're positively an open-minded person I once tried to convert my guildmates in a local mmorpg, The entire guild ended up split in two. Good times Yea I've had experiences like that. My friend group still sits and chats positively together, but all bronies sit on one side, and non-bronies sit on the other. We switch it up a bit sometimes, but you can feel the tension. 1 GAK
Queen Cassie 3,057 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 I'm not quite sure I much care for the term conversion. It makes it feel as though being a pony fan is a cult or something. Still, I have made new pony fans out of a couple of people. My little brother, for example, loves the show. My mom also seems to like watching it when it's on, at least, though she doesn't actively seek it out. Used to be known on here as Kyronea. Want to read psychological analyses of the Mane Six? Warbalist 133 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 It's interesting, making fans out of my metal/goth friends, especially if they grew up in the 80's and remember those seriously annoying commercials (right in the middle of Transformers, no less, my, times have changed). Anyway, get anybody who likes Star Trek to watch the Discord episodes and you'll have them singing Flutterguy lickety-split! http://www.youtube.com/user/warbalist
Inky Milk 78 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 Nah. But then, I realize when it comes to hobbies me and my friends really don't have a lot in common anyway. They're aware of my other 'odd' hobbies such as dolls or dressing up but since it's not their thing I don't try to impose it on them. Same with the ponies. I have a feeling they already view me as childish as it is, so while I wouldn't hide my love of MLP from them, I wouldn't go out of my way to get them to watch it either. The only person who I AM trying to get to watch it with me is my older sister, who already lets me ramble on about ponies for way too long as it is. Sadly, we don't have tv and she says the only way she'll watch it with me is if we could livestream it from Netflix. Hmph.

Squeaker 89 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 At least 3, in my school. This one girl, who I don't really talk to alot, was watching me watch Hearthswarming Eve and The Ticket Master and I invited her to watch with me. So she did... nothing else to do in class. And then on Monday the next week she comes over and goes "I hate you." "Why?" "I watched ponies ALL weekend." LOL

halcyonharlot 372 March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 My friends and I got another friend into MLP. At first she was wholly against watching a show directed at little girls, but she changed her tune pretty fast. Now she's going to be the Twilight Sparkle in our cosplay group this year. I also got a former gentleman friend somewhat into it by dragging him to the MLP panel at a con we went to. I'll be simultaneously curious and worried if a brony claims to have an apocalypsis that turned him or her into a fan. The term "conversion" is used playfully here, I think. I always think of it as a process, so the term---sans its religious connotations---seems apt. Edited March 23, 2012 by Thereisnospoon303 2 Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te.
