So any favorite animated shows or movies(or maybe anything) that you thought had really beautiful animation? :D

I recently just finished a movie called "5 Centimeters Per Second" and I thought everything about the animation was just..breathtaking.

No seriously just look at how gorgeous this movie looks!

I know this probably doesn't fit, but Life of Pi.  Aside from the kid, the entire thing was animated/cg.  I also really enjoyed The Secret of Kells because everything was styled to look like and illuminated book :)

@QuasarBeam I'll admit though Life of Pi did have great animation sequences.

Oh man and watching it in HD for the first time... I just hit the floor!  It's a shame that the company that did all of that hard work wasnt recognized at the awards and had to file for bankrupsy :(

Transformers: Prime. /thread

Have you seen this show's animation? It's a work of art, especially in the second and third seasons. It deserves every single Daytime Emmy Award it's gotten for it's incredible visuals, as it's one of the many reasons I love the show as much as I do. Here are some examples of the animation quality, though you have to watch them in HD for a fully-breathtaking experience:

Disney's "The Paperman"

Would love to see a full movie done like this

The single most amazing short I have ever seen. I was going to post that but since you beat me to it all I have is this bloody meme. But as a bonus here is the 2nd best animation. Whoo hooo Disney kick.

I've always thought Studio Ghibli movies were pleasing to the eye, especially Castle in the Sky and Ponyo.

I don't remember what it was called, but the DBZ flick with Lord Bills had great visuals.

And Watership down had amazing environments and landscapes, but the characters didn't look quite as good.

All of the Legend of Korra two parter Beginnings especially the final battle when Wan fuses with Raava is just breathtakingly beautiful to look at and you can tell how much time and effort went into making it. Heck even Legend of Korra and Avatar the Last Airbender have some of the best animation I have seen in television period! Being able to watch either one or both of the series in HD is just an experience like no other. I swear we need an animated Avatar film just to bask in the glory of what the animators would be capable when given a significantly larger budget. Could you even begin to imagine what it would look like in HD? The animation is already so good that it would be acceptable to being shown in theaters so who knows how amazing it would be?

A very recent and truly beautiful short: Jinxy Jenkins, Lucky You made by students from Ringling College of Art & Design in Florida.

It's about an unlucky boy who meets a lucky girl. "When the chaotically misfortunate Jenkins and the monotonously lucky Lou run into each other one morning, they find a thrilling and fulfilling change of pace as they hurtle down the hills of San Francisco in an ice cream cart."

Just take a look :)

Well, while it isn't the best of teh Disney movies, I would argue that "Treasure Planet" was the pinnacle of Disney hand-drawn animation, and it is honestly the most GORGEOUS animation I have ever seen.

For me, Disney's CGI movies and their following hand-drawn attempts haven't matched up.

The moment when Rapunzel is reuinted with her parents in Tangled takes my pick. It's animation is absolutely beautiful because no words need to be spoken, you just see their expressions and you know what their feeling. The music is low and fits the scene perfectly.

Just ignore the second half of the video since it doesn't have anything to do with my post. :)

I'd say just about anything Glen Keane has worked on but I'll narrow it down to Tarzan.  Honestly I don't think much of the movie otherwise but the animation is just....hhhnnnnggffff...so good.  A great marriage of hand-drawn and CG that's brilliant on every technical and character-based level.

And I just got the blu-ray. :D

I know this is a bit of a dull choice, seeing that is it very popular, but the animation in Frozen is simply incredible. The attention to detail on the characters, especially Anna and Elsa, is amazing!

Just look at Elsa's face during the song, all the different parts of her face detailed to perfection.

Other than Frozen, the other amazing piece of animation I can think of is parts of Kung Fu Panda 2, during the flashback scenes to Po's childhood.
