Alright, fellow Bronies. Lately, I've become a bit of a fan of ambient music-problem is, I don't know much. So, I made this thread so that all of you fellow ambient fans can share some amazing music! Anything that can be considered "ambient" is acceptable.

 

Also, for those of you who are unaware of what ambient music is, Ambient music is a musical genre that focuses largely on the timbrel characteristics of sounds, often organized or performed to evoke an "atmospheric , "visual" or "unobtrusive" quality.

Ambient music tends to be very "atmospheric" and minimal, which conjures feelings of relaxation and deep thought.

 

A good ambient/ slowcore artist I've been listening to is The White Birch:

For those that are unfamiliar, Ambient music in general is essentially about the sound, rather than the actual notes that are used to produce the sounds. In fact, being mostly atmospheric, sometimes there is an outright absence of usual instruments.

Dark Ambient, is where things get freaky. Remember the eerie haunting soundtrack to Silent Hill 2 that gave us all the chills? Or what about the music onboard the USG Ishimura in Dead Space? Both of those soundtracks are considered Dark Ambient, and have a prevelant theme of isolation and abandonment.

I don't expect too many people to post in this thread, but for those who are intrested, i figure it be as good a place to start as any.

 

Some of the bands i listen to are: Aurastys, Atrium Carceri, Raison D'etre, Lustmord, and Northaunt.

 

Anypony else got some dark ambient music to share?
