How and when did you become a brony?

I became a brony when one of my friends started talking about the show with me.  I was just shocked to hear that he watched such a show.  When I got home after hearing it from him, I watched it, determined not to like it.  But whatd'ya know?  I LOVED IT!!!

It was a long process that basically boils down to me being overly curious, then drawn in by adorable animation and an awesome PMV shown at a local con, and finally me ending up watching the first two seasons in an attempt to study the characters for a silly fictional story I wrote for a friend's birthday.  I accepted being a brony when I found myself spending an hour to find a livestream so I could watch the season 3 premiere.  I joined these forums the next day.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums! I became a brony when I heard my friends talking about it (they were saying how weird bronies were). I was confused, but it got me  interested. I went to check it out, and, from episode 1, I knew there was no going back... I was a brony!!!

But I am a very curious person so one night, I looked up the show, watched the Discord premiere and said OH MY GOD HE WAS RIGHT. And after that, I was able to get two other friends to watch the show.

I first became one in May of 11', and that's when the first drought of ponies first started. I remember first seeing Nyan Cat, and all these RD remakes, I guess form all this new internet hype, I found my way to a cool Pokemon person on YouTube that had the first episode of season 1. I'm the first out of my friends and family to love the show.

I got stupidly curious and admittedly downloaded a few episodes (to which angers me now since no one seems to have the DVD's anymore)

i like to check in on things before i decide if i hate it or not, i'm not like most who'll just jump on a ship because its there. I need to know WHY its there. I like my arguments to be logical and complete. Not some half tailed load of crock that i lifted from someone else saying things. (such as the pastor at my mothers church who botched a rant about why Harry Potter is bad (my mother LOVES those books). He called the Author a "He".... J.K. Rowling is a "She"!! I'm told my mother jumped out of her seat and blasted the guy for his intolerant rant on something he knows nothing of  )

SOOO in the end i got hooked on the old school references and the colorful scenery, as well as some of the characters...

And a secret reason i do enjoy, but only speak of when it applies (nothing nasty or bad mind you, but rather its the POINT of the show, a point thats long been lost in society these days)

Mostly its "secret" because i like to give people gruff when they ask "how can you like a little girls show!".. I simply tell them its "colorful and funny, so why shouldn't i? And the old references help".

Well, I was a brony, at the beginning of Feburary, and this is how it happened....

 

Welp, I've been just streaming Youtube, and happened to stumble across a few pony videos whilst keeping my interests to myself I wasn't going to go to another video pony-related. Eventually I just watched one and it was pretty entertaining. Then, I suddenly was attached and I had to watch some more videos for like another hour. After, I just began watching the show and continuly watching fanworks on Youtube. That's how I became a brony.

I started watching at the start of the new year (2013).

 

Mostly cause I watched Tiarawhy/DeusEX's "friendship was magic" fan animation. The second it was done, I was like WOAH. GIVE ME MORE. And so here I am. As you would expect, the finale for season 2 is my favorite episode

I don't remember the date but I became a brony when my friend kept insisting that I watch it. I didn't really care about it or the fact that he watched a "little girl's show". It didn't bother me. But he kept asking if I watched it so I finally did. The first few episodes was "meh" granted it was funnier than I thought it would be. After a while I really started to enjoy it and I really got into the fandom. Now I spend half my time looking up ponies.(it also got me into doctor who).

I became a Brony through curiosity, and loving the fandom content and music. Especially the music. After that, I watched the first episode, was hooked, and continued until I watched all of them. So almost the same situation as you.

My Story:

 

I was watching a normal video and then i saw the first episode of MLP:FiM in the Suggestions.I was curious and i opened it thinking it was a silly cartoon.Then i got into it.I watched all the episodes of MLP until the end of Season 1.(That was the last episode at that time.)

 

So what made me watch MLP was curiosity and accident(because i didn't think i would get hooked up to it).

There was an ad video about "tough cars" meant to be used in the wild, crossing muddy patches of land and the such. Well, the ad showed one of the "weak cars" getting stuck in the mud and while the very masculine narrator was talking about "horsepower" the owner of the stuck car lifted the hood and in place of the engine was a green place with pink horses singing about being disgusted of the mud and hard work.

 

One of the comments for this video said: these ponies got nothing on Pinkie Pie.

And was left thinking "WTF is a Pinkie Pie?" Then I did a search and youtube and got the "party of one" scene... After that I did some more research and decided to give MLP:FIM a shot and so I found the first episodes and watched. I fell in love with the Mare in the Moon "mythology" and the whole message I saw in the episode. It was about two years ago, I guess, but I'm not sure.

 

Then i fell in love with the Mane Six and the whole idea of the magic of friendship and the Elements of Harmony. The icing in the cake was the fantastic songs and art that the fandom creates. Amazing.

It all began for me in July 2011 when I watched a youtube poop of one of the episodes (specifically this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWmDcujkIjw ). At first I thought it was just another uninspired kid's show and had no idea about its following but as I saw more and more parodies of the show I became more curious about it. Soon after I found out about the show's following and its fame/infamy on the internet and decided to give the show a shot and a month later, I was a fan myself.

I became a brony about 2 weeks ago and since the first episode I haven't had a day without ponies!

 

I was watching smosh pit weekly and I saw a clip of Rainbow Dash saying "Oh, all right" and I remembered a few months ago about My Little Pony becoming popular but I never looked much further than a few memes. So after watching smosh pit weekly, I watched the first episode of MLP and timed myself to see how long I could bare it for.

 

Since I am on this forum write now, you can guess what the results were!
