Welcome to the LEGO discussion thread! Here you can share your experiences from your childhood, all the sets and themes that you used to (or still) love, and if you're an avid hobbyist, you can share some of the stuff that you're looking forward to. :)

You can also share awesome pictures like this:

So epic! :yay:

For me, this franchise was the best thing to have ever happened  to my childhood. It made my childhood livable and I still to this day embrace the nostalgia! It's been about three years since I've had a LEGO set but recently, I have decided to try to pursue this fascination of mine once more. Honestly, I would love to have several sets to keep on display in the future, even when I get married and have my own family. :)

This thread is dedicated to anything LEGO!

Unfortunately I've been told I'm 'too old' to play with lego. I have many fond memories like remaking (and destroying) my lego star wars stuff. I do unfortunately retain the memories of standing on the little claw ones when in my bare feet :'(

Haha, me too, basically...

I have an entire ~0.1 m3 (~3 cft) treasure chest overflowing with Star Wars Legos. I had the Star Destroyer, the AT-ST, the self-moving AT-AT, the AT-TE, the LAAT Gunship, the X-Wing, Y-Wing, B-Wing, A-Wing, TIE Interceptor, TIE Fighter, Jedi Starfighter, Naboo Starfighter, Droid Carrier, Wookie attack set, Jabba sail barge set, and probably another bunch more that I'm forgetting. I collected so many of them from 2005 to 2010, during the post-RotS period.

Anyway, the point is, I still have all of those... but I couldn't take them with me when I moved out of my parent's house. I don't have enough space in my apartment to store so many Legos. I used to have so much fun setting up battle scenes with all of those... hell, I even wrote my own Episode 7-9 trilogy. It's kinda depressing now that I think about it. I miss being a kid. xD

I've never had the opportunity to play with legos when i was younger because my mom believed in gender stereotypes and told me that it was a boy game. As soon as I move out I am so getting a lego set.

Not really sure any more.

I was a lego fan since I was 3 or 4. The oldest Lego set I recall I had was a Johnny Thunder plane, and then a Res-Q jeep. I mainly collected Star Wars and Bionicle, or anything with aircraft. I even build a few things from scrap. I'll post some pics later.

I still have a good collection in my room, although who knows if I'll eventually sell or donate some of them. Pull an "Andy", if you know what I mean :P? (That was a good movie ;u; ).

It's unlikely, but maybe someone will recognize me by the name of Saturn2.0 (or -XYZ) when I was in the Lego.com forums.

Sadly, many of my sets have fallen apart and pieces have been lost and scattered, so they are lost. Fortunately, the pieces I did find eventually made way into some of my original creations.

Since we're talking about LEGO, I figured I'd post this little beauty:

Thanks for sharing. That film was very entertaining and interesting :P It seemed like some sort of Twilight Zone episode.

Wow, I'm really sorry that you had to deal with that. Apparently MLP:FIM was not the only franchise that suffered from being categorized by gender -_- But yeah, I would definitely encourage you to buy a lego set once you move out. You're never too old for LEGO. Plus, it is a really easy hobby to start. Even if you have a severely limited budget, you can still manage to buy a number of small LEGO CITY sets for less than $10. Here are some good examples:

Don't even get me started on Johnny Thunder ...  :o

Orient Expedition was and will always be my favorite LEGO theme!  :D

Oh how I really wanted to get those big sets, like Scorpion Palace, Temple of Mount Everest, and Dragon Fortress  :(

I really missed out  :(  Gosh darn you for being so damn expensive!

As a kid, my favorite sets were the vintage (well they're vintage now) pirates, medieval and space. Pirates and Medieval were my top favorites, and still are

also here are two sites I have found very useful and awesome:
letsbuilditagain.com - a great site to go to if you have lost or damaged your lego instructions and would like to get a new instruction manual so you can build your sets again

bricklink.com - a great site to go to for either full sets or spare parts. Prices are very reasonable and the sellers are just hobbyists or collectors, there are no businesses or corporations tied in with this site..as far as I know

I've heard that there is a secret LEGO place in Denmark that contains every single LEGO set that has ever existed. Please tell me that this is true :P

@Dsanders it is most likely true, as Denmark is the birth place of Lego, hence why they take so much pride about it. I still think that if Lego had allowed us Australians to play Lego Online, then they would have more than enough subscribers and they wouldn't have had to shut it down

Oh man, I LOVE Legos!  :yay: I wasn't very creative with them when I was younger, but I still loved them none the less. Probably would be a lot more creative with them these days.

It's even better now with all the movie tie-in sets and what not! Lego is finally making all the sets I wanted to see when I was younger! But it wasn't so bad back then...

When I was younger, my best friend at the time and I shared two HUGE buckets of Legos! There wasn't hardly ANYTHING we couldn't build!

...Also, is it just me, or have Legos gotten more expensive lately?

I remember having lots of bigger Lego sets back then. I bought the first X-Wing Star Wars set, the first Millennium Falcon set, probably a few other Star Wars sets here and there, a jet fighter plane set, a bunch of random sci-fi themed sets, and lots more... Not sure how my mother would have been able to afford them if they had the same prices as bigger sets these days. Seems like the popular sets people are buying these days are the smaller sets, the ones with 1 figure and like 5-10 lego pieces. You can hardly do ANYTHING with those sets, but it's pretty much all you can afford if you're low on money.

Still, I wouldn't mind getting into Legos again. Building things is always something I've been good at. That's why I like jigsaw puzzles and model kits.  :proud:

I used to be a lego fan, well I sorta still am, these I buy sets from only one theme (that being bionicle), but I used to be big into the regular lego sets when I was younger (lost interest when I was 14).

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

O-okay...I think I got all my excitement out...

Does anyone have problems with Mini-figures sides cracking, because that has happened to all of my newer Figs (all of my old ones are fine just a lil' loose on the arms)

Before I start..

YLeVvEi.jpg

:P

I've always loved LEGO. I started buying the sets when I was about 7, so I have a ton right now. My mom got me this huge book filled with LEGO ideas, so I also build original stuff. LEGO City and LEGO Pirates were my favorite sets, and I also have a shitload of minifigures.

Speaking of the minifigures, my dad and I were the masters of feeling the blind bags. We knew every single character by just feeling the pieces. I ended up collecting all of the series 10 figures, and I have some more minifigures from previous series and LEGO sets.

I also went to Legoland Florida in 2012, it's really awesome. I bought a nice little box to store minifigures in. It's pretty neat, so maybe I'll post a picture of it sometime.

TL;DR version: I love LEGO!
