What do you think would be a gigantic disaster?

I think the absolute worst case scenario would probably be making another alicorn out of the Mane Six.

OMG! If they made the rest of the mane six into ONE alicorn, that would ruin everything!

At first I only saw the title of the thread, and now I'm disappointed that I can't chime in with "global thermonuclear war".

They could change Derpy's voice again or have an Equestria Girls episode (TV Special Event u guise), or end the show.

Actually, come to think of it, I think global thermonuclear war can still be a valid answer.

It's the brony fandom. Everything will be a "thing" at some point.

Making Flashlight canon in the actual show would probably upset the fandom more than anything else. I know I'd be angry

Twilight deserves better than that flat boring character gosh darn it!

Seriously Hasbro, what are you waiting for? You sit on a gold mine.

Don't forget to add Michael

Bay as a director. He'll really make an MLP/Transformers hybrid cause lots of explosions thus, angering the bronies to the point of violence.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

If they end the series on TV making it only movies.

If the = thing spans the whole season,

If a human enters the picture.

If they get gooey little kid feeling romantic partners.

If the CMC fail to get their cutie marks.

I think pretty much, mostly what's already been listed-

Coltfriends, movies, too many alicorns, bringing humans, def frozen references.

I think it might get a bit boring if they show too much of twilight's alicorn duties, too.

MLP could go the way the Winx club went. Boyfriends that all act like Flash Sentry, horrible animation and boring stories that make no sense.

I don't want that. We all don't want that. If you do, stop lying to yourself and others. :fiery:

She speaks the truth. If anything FiM losing it's focus and going down that route would be worse than anything that has happened since.

Funny thing is that after the Breezies episode, there's literally nothing stopping Twilight from magically turning all her friends into alicorns.

True. And speaking of which, many people seem to want Twilight to become an all-powerful supergoddess. That would be a disaster, as it would pretty much destroy her as a character.

On that note, I really hope the writers are still concerned with maintaining balance with Twilight's abilities. If she becomes too powerful, she won't be suited for the normal slice-of-life episodes anymore, since you'll likely just wonder why she doesn't just whip out a spell to solve the problem (unless, of course, that spell happens to fail like in Bats!)

I don't think the writers have ever once considered that something to be concerned about. That's been a thing since season 1, but I've never had a problem with it, even now when I kinda hate everything about what the show's become.

Actually, yes, they have.

M.A. Larson in particular did the most to ensure that Twilight's abilities were balanced. Back when she was a unicorn, pretty much any powerful spell she pulled off usually had a balance or restriction to it. The time-travel spell is a big one. Larson made it so that it only had a one-time use, so that way we know that Twilight is now unable to go back in time and warn herself of any upcoming threats. And it's a good thing he did, because that was seriously a potential show-breaking spell.

games start costing 100 dallars.

that would doom the gaming industry.

love is like a song to me.

when you love that song you wanna listen to it every day over and over.

there always something more to learn form that song.

but when theres marriage that is a song made by two in matrimony.

a song hand crafted in a harmonious tune only the two will truly understand and love for eternity.

That had nothing to do with Twilight though, it was just part of the spell. Got another example?

What difference does it make? If her spells have built-in restrictions, then that's good enough. Either way, it established that she was not too powerful for her own good.

However, if you want examples concerning Twilight herself, I'll direct you to:

(1) Her spell to alter the dietary habits of parasprites backfiring on her in Swarm of the Century.

(2) Her "failsafe spell" in The Return of Harmony doing nothing.

(3) Her inability to pull off any of the advanced spells in Magic Duel.

None of that has to do with maintaining balance with Twilight's abilities. By that logic, making her all-powerful but too stupid to do anything right is similarly "maintaining balance".

Yes, it does, because it proved that she actually could fail in magic-related areas, in spite of being the bearer of the Element of Magic.

So then what were you saying in your post?

Just that you hope Twilight doesn't... not fail? What's the actual difference between some massive unbalance and how things have always been with Twilight?

Just that I hope that she does not gain access to an increased level of abilities that make her virtually unable to struggle with any problems in the normal slice-of-life episodes.

The difference between that and how things have always been with Twilight is that her failure to stop the parasprites through magic ultimately made their need to get rid of them that much more dire. The difference is that her failure to perform any of the advanced spells in Magic Duel allowed the episode to last longer than ten minutes and also allowed her to learn a better lesson at the end.

yeah but at the same time they need to slip it in she's a princess now she can't just skive all the time :/

i'm sure there will be an episode where twily's magic is stolen somehow :/
