movies/tv Most underrated Cartoons?

Every once in a while, there's a cartoon that not many people heard of, remember, or even liked, but people who have seen it, saw its brilliance. What are the most underrated cartoons you enjoyed?

My Life as a Teenage Robot: Created by Rob Renzetti, This gem of Nicktoon came and went as Nick tried to make people forget it existed towards the end of its run. But most people who have seen it can tell you how good it is. While it isn't my favorite Nicktoon, Teenage Robot is at least in the top 10. Its characters are likable and often funny, its plots were inventive, and its action was solid. But what really sold me on the show was the main character herself, Jenny. Not only is she as cute as a button, but she also avoids the annoying, overused "valley girl" stereotype common in many teenage cartoon characters. She possesses a unique comination of teenage sensabilites and child-like naiveté, making her relatable to both teens and younger children, and Janice Kawaye does a great job capturing the anime-esque innocence of her character.

Yin Yang Yo: I saw several people weren't really a fan of this show. I kind of see why, it IS pretty flawed. Regardless, I still found it hilarious. It stars two rabbit twins, Yin and Yang, as they learn the magic/combat hybrid art called Woo Foo, by a Grumpy Panda named Yo. The humor is reminiscent of early Fairly Odd Parents, will meta-jokes, and self-awareness. It's far from perfect, but if you like Fairly Odd Parents, you may get a chuckle out of this show.

The Weekenders: Please watch this show, If you like Slice-of-Life shows, please give it a look. It's basically about 4 kids doing stuff on weekends. That may sound boring, but you'll be supprised at what they do with this.

Samurai Jack. I'm not sure if this is "underrated", per se, but I don't feel it gets the attention it deserves. I loved it.

Here's one I'll bet most of you have never heard of: Animalympics.  This was a cartoon movie released in 1980, in which various animals from different nations compete at Olympic games.  It was meant to be shown in segments alongside the actual Olympics, but unfortunately, that was the year that the US boycotted the Olympics, so this movie was quietly released and mostly ignored.

It's actually quite good, funny, has great music (at least for its time - the style is pretty dated by today's standards), and it was kinda visionary for its time as well.  (And quick trivia fact: The animation studio that produced it also did the glowing suit and environmental effects in TRON.)

Digimon is underrated to me, although I love Pokemon, mostly as the manga, card game and video games, I don't particularly like the anime, after nearly eighteen years, the TV show is stale, repetitive and predictable, Digimon on the other hand, was really quite clever, the plot and the stories of each episode was different, thus having continuity and variety, it also kept the story fresh. The main thing I love about Digimon, is the fact the Digimon were equal to their human companions, they could speak like the Digi-destined, they shared the struggles and adventures, and had a mutual bond, Pokemon, however they could be seen as pets, or trade able goods, that makes poaching both legal and illegal, depending of training or fiscal exploitation, putting Pokemon in a ghastly condition, and the legalised cock-fighting does not particularly help matters. Digimon no matter what season is under appreciated, it is creative and detailed, the animation style is also better than Pokemon, the final thing that makes Digimon good, is the fact it ends, it wraps up the story and finishes with an anti-climax, giving you time to reflect on the events in the show, I have noting against Pokemon, but I feel that Digimon is superior, because they made a story first, and everything else was subordinate, much like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

Oh my god! THIS!

I watched this as a kid the crapload of times because we had it taped (VCR magic). However, It's been a very long time since I've last seen it. I think it's about time I look it up. Thank you for bringing me back.

also... This is a rather old one, but anyone remember "the Pirates of Darkwater"? Talk about high adventure! A good "high seas" fantasy with lots of Interesting characters

OMG I LOVED THE CARTOONED!  I HATED THEY LEFT IT SO OPEN AND NEVER WRAPPED IT UP!

TMNT 03

This cartoon made me love the Ninja Turtles but also

the show vs the comedy one gave the turtles good depth,

snapping writing and growth but still had that humor we loved

in the TMNT boys! Also it was the more gritty of the all the cartoons

even out to this date that followed the comic story line closer

than any other show has also!

Tales from the Cryptkeeper. For those of you who don't know, they tried to create a Tales from the Crypt cartoon in the 1990s. The show is quite good, being a lot like Goosebumps in terms of scares. The first and second seasons are great. The third season, however, is like FiM mixed with Goosebumps. Which makes it the best season imo by far.

Gravity Falls is, in my opinion, highly underrated. It's such a good, funny, interesting, and originol show, with great characters and an awesome plot, yet it gets stuck in the shadow of shows like Phineas and Ferb... :/

Well I've got my own thread on here devoted to the SWAT Kats!!

An incredibly epic, tragically underrated/unheard of action hero cartoon about a world of anthropomorphic cats where two ex-military fighter pilots fight to keep bad guys from taking over their city. It is GLORIOUS.

Lessee... Any others...

Well I think more people need to to watch Wander Over Yonder!!

It's gaining a following, but dang it, it needs to become as popular as Gravity Falls, Phineas and Ferb, etc. It is SOOOO good, and Wander himself has just about seated himself on my throne of "Best Cartoon Character in Existence".

I actually have heard of it! Thanks to Familiar Faces. 83

At least Gravity Falls has merchandise and is talked about.

I rarely see Wander or his show talked about anywhere except groups specifically dedicated to it.

And there is NO official Wander Over Yonder merchandise as far as I can tell. But if there ever is, I'm going to be a freakin' Wander OTAKU, and buy everything associated with it that I possibly can.

Okay, if any cartoon was underrated, it was Kim Possible. Gosh, I used to love that show. I haven't seen it in ages.

I guess Phineas and Ferb might be a little underrated, but not as much.

KP is freakin' amazing! And the fandom is really great too and pretty supportive. I mean, I've gotten a lot of good feedback and help with my KP fanfiction arc.

Anyway, I've been rewatching it recently and realised I never appreciated it as much as I should have as a kid, even though I was one KP obsessed kid. What's funny is the people who watch it now and are like "oh, nostalgia" are the same idiots who picked on me when I was ten and called me loser because I liked Kim Possible.

It wasn't underrated back in the day. I mean, I remember having and seeing alot of decent merch. But, over the years, it has slipped under the radar a bit, which is said, because I think that the show still holds up really well, and the writing is genius. I mean, years later I'm still laughing! Plus, some of the thigns they got away with were great and rather subtle too. ("Hold it right there, slick. I don't do cakes. 'Kay. I don't bake 'em and I don't jump out of 'em." Like, what? XD)

Also, #ShegoIsBestDazzling (Just...Just don't question it.)

YES. Gravity Falls is the only TV show I like more than MLP, and while it's more well known than a lot of the shows in this thread, it still doesn't have as much recognition as it should.

If you don't know Gravity Falls, go watch the first episode. Seriously.
