As a non-gamer, I often wonder why people would buy an intentionally stripped down crippled computer (console).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Because its all ready done for you you don't have to worry about problems such as virus's or compatibility issues and there is a title

Now Let's move on to PC gamers, these are worst imo, they never shut up about how they are the master race, which doesn't mean jack in todays world. So you have a PC, so does everybody else in the world; it doesn't make you special, as i said with console gamers, it won't make one bit of difference, only leads to more arrogance. Tell me, what do you get out of being an elitist? same as console gamers, nothing.    Now i have a notebook which functions the same way a desktop does, does that make me better than you, hell no! it makes me a normal gamer, same as you are. i've had people fighting over who got the better end of the deal, others fighting and saying "consoles suck". How old are you? 3? I'm ashamed of those that try to be an elitist and make fun of others for what they play.Now either suck it up or don't say a darn word

I will also admit to being a bit of an elitist because I really do think PC is better than console in almost every way (and it definitely is in the ways I care about). It helps that one of my favorite genres, Strategy, is basically PC exclusive.

 

Anyway, I only have a problem with console peasants players who say shit that is just straight up false. PCs will always be more powerful for the same price, will always have more games, and will always be more customizable, both in hardware and software. There will never be anything a console can do that a PC cannot. If you disagree with any of those, you are either wrong or are being pedantic.

Pick your sytem based on what you like, not what other people like. Don't rely on what other people say, its never the truth. here are the reasons people don't look at.

 

- Consoles and pc's can go on internet

- Consoles and pc play games

- Consoles and pc games have multiplayer

- Consoles and pc's are flawed 

 

That's all i need to know: end of story.

Tell that to the people who can't relate to something that isn't catered to their age specifically. I'm not saying you can't feel that way, and I certainly agree with you on a personal level, but there's a reason people prefer games made for adults.

 

It's not just the content matter but the way they are handled that turns people off. Some developers think that because kids or "casuals" (for lack of a better word) are the main ones who play it they don't need to follow some of the more important conventions of game design to make it interesting for the adult gamer.

 

This isn't always the case but even the most well-made games can be completely unappealing to some adults. It's not even about a "oh this is kiddy" mentality but a difficulty to find any interest in the general idea.

 

I can come up with a list of at least fifty games that I can guarantee will be at least decent across all the new gen systems but that's just me...

Point. You couldn't pull off something as masterful as Fallout 2 under an E rating, but Nintendo does NOT drop quality because they're making stuff for kids.

 

OOOH I came up with another good Eighth gen game. Alien Isolation. There we go. Two. (This is excluding nintendo and remakes btw)

 

Console Wars are extremely annoying but from my own experiences Sony fanboys are the absolute worst, don't you dare bring up anything Microsoft-related (and the ones who spell it like 'Micro$oft' are the most childish) unless you want to know how superior the PS4 is. The PC community is the most tolerable I've seen as the "PC MASTER RACE" thing is just a joke.

 

For this gen, I'd rate it as Nintendo > Microsoft > Sony, that's just me personally though.

I say Micro$oft not because of consoles, but because of comupters.

It's not really that hard to figure out. Sony, Nintendo, Valve, EA and Microsoft all want you, the consumer, to buy into their ecosystems. They use aggressive marketing, exclusives and some sort of rewards/customer loyalty program to tempt you into buying into these ecosystems; Nintendo's was Club Nintendo, Sony's is PS+ "free" games, Microsoft's is Games with Gold, EA's is On the House and Valve's is deep discount sales. Basically, they want your money.

 

I know I've admitted to being a pretty big Valve fan before but I can't deny that Steam provides the bulk of their revenue today, nor can I deny that they're in it for the money. That is how a corporation do, and really, no company should be immune to criticism, even by their own fans.

Club Nintendo is terminating.

 

Also, Nintendo is not perfect. They've shown that they're trying to appeal to Mobile and PC Gamers, despite the games not really being the problem most of the time.

 

Also, Discord, I will never become bored of gaming. TES.

I may seem on the fence about this but I'm really not but I have to say that, on the one hand PCs do afford a much greater flexibility in terms of game customization and tweaking. On the other hand consoles tend to afford a much greater stability during game play since that's what consoles are designed for.

 

And then there's the Wii and the Wii-U. This is a unique console in that it also affords a certain amount of cusomization freedom that's not available in other consoles (as far as I know and I'm not just talking about Gary's Mod and such things that can be used on consoles.)

 

So, yeah... They all have their good points and their benefits and, as far as I'm concerned, to each their own. I guess I'll just never understand why so many go to war over which is the "best". *shrug*

They're far more than just entertainment. They are a window into worlds not our own. Even the more realistic of video games is dictated by deus ex machina and the ability to pull things off that normally would have little chance of succeeding. They make our dreams and fantasies come to life.

Console wars and fanboyism is one of the most annoying things about the game industry which is why I'm not on gaming forums. And for instance I have read discussions saying that Nintendo's newer IP's aren't triple A games or aren't high budget or super realistic. Games don't need to be realistic to be good. But overall they're just games, let's just play them, and have fun. I still prefer Nintendo handhelds over all else but that's just what I like. So play whatever systems or games you like to play. All of these arguments really kill the fun of games.

It really doesn't matter which gaming platform you choose to play on, its all a matter of what you want. If you like variety, you can go with PC, if you want stability, go with a console. Whatever you choose won't matter, they function the same way in gaming. Playing ignorant won't win anyone a victory; just make them look stupid to others.

 

There are times i wish people would look at themselves and see how foolish they're acting, Nobody is forcing you to buy what they like, its all up to the consumer to choose.

   I avoid console wars, because I have played most of the major platforms, in my family, we have Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 2 and PC laptops, my brother, sister and me play all of these. I am the oldest of my siblings, so I grew up on Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, I owned an SNES, and many of my friends had a Sega, we would play each others games, it didn't matter what the console was, we had fun playing games, and have many good bonding moments. When my brother comes back home from Fort Bragg, we play Xbox together, when normally I play Playstation 2, my sister also lives out of town, when she comes back home, we play the Wii, personally, I love the challenge of transitioning from a game controller, to keyboard controls, it keeps my reflexes sharp, and it allows me to relate to all gamers, for I have probably played the games they have, but even if I had not, I like recommendations of new games I could be playing, so platform wars or consoles wars, the fanboys can have it, the rest of us shall keep having fun.

My god. I can't even begin to describe how idiotic gaming race fanboys/girls are. I should know. I've tried to discuss flaws in the PC race and console races and everyone I've spoken to has burned me alive. Even my friend who is an elitist PC gamer shown me no mercy when I spoke of my diversity within races. Seriously. Like Candy Star said. Every race has its flaws. Consoles are stuck in a locked state. PCs can get viruses which can destroy a computer inside out. and Handhelds don't have very good graphics. Mobile platforms have flaws too. For example, each brand of OS is stuck with one specific store to purchase music and apps from. And if you can't find music or games on one store that you can on another, tough.

 

Those are just some main flaws within every race that I've gathered with 14 years of all around gaming experience.

 I prefer Nintendo stuff to the super violent games on other consoles. I have a Wii U and a 3DS and love them.
