gaming The New 3DS: Yay or Nay?

I like the idea of it, the increased processing power is the main focus for me. Increased speed and stability for the win. I don't think it will make me upgrade just yet, unless I would get a good amount back for my current 3DS XL and we all know how that goes usually.

The new C stick thing is something I have not heard much about other than it works well.

So in all I do want it, but it is not a huge upgrade overall , not that the 3DS XL needed one. :P So I can wait on it.

Normally for a new Nintendo system, I'd be able to tell you by now. But I don't want a monster handheld in my pocket and being in North America, I don't have the normal sized one. So I'm just gonna wait and hope we get it. Other than that I'm excited about the new features

Got myself a red one.  Beautiful, glossy fingerprint-magnet.

The head-tracking 3D is cool but it's a bit of a trade off.  It uses the inner camera to track where your eyes are.  So if anything briefly obscures your eyes or the camera, the 3D will malfunction for a split second.  So if you habitually adjust your glasses, like I do, that can be a recurring thing.

The C-stick could have been better.  It functions well and serves its purpose, and I'm happy it's there at all.  It's just somewhat uncomfortable and feels like, if I were to make copious use of it, I might get a blister on my thumb tip.  But that will depend on how you naturally grip it.  I personally wish they would have just made it a secondary circle pad, though I suspect they did what they did for the sake of space as the system's innards are already fairly jam-packed

Playing Majora's Mask, like 90% of the time I used the C-stick to adjust the camera, it would briefly (2 frames-ish) flicker to an irrelevant angle before popping right back to Link.  This could just be my copy, I'd have to play someone else's for a bit to know.

I agree. They should release the normal sized ones here.

I already have a 3DS XL and this New 3DS just isn't worth it for me. I also think that with the added buttons, improved 3D and faster processing power, this New 3DS model should have really been the 3DS in the first place in my opinion.

I also do think it's a little ridiculous that no charger is included with these, any newcomers to the 3DS will have to buy a new charger seperately.

I pre-ordered the New 3DS XL, if you have a standard 3DS it may be worth the upgrade if you have some money to spare but if you have a 3DS XL already don't update it is pointless.

Feels kinda pointless to me, I wish they had waited to release a next gen handheld instead of pretty much releasing the 3ds how should have been originally, the damage is still done nintendo.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

Well i have a Launch 3DS, back when they first came out. So i'm gonna "yay" :3 Since i've recently gotten a New 3DS, not XL though they all sold out.  :okiedokielokie:

Its definetly a major improvement, i'm enjoying monster hunter alot on it.  :yay:

Eh... It's just another one of Nintendo's rehashes with minimalistic changes that oftentimes get incorporated into the next generation handheld (exactly what happened with the 3DS). Since I already have a 3DS, it is rendered completely pointless in my eyes.

It's not that much of an improvement over the 3ds XL nor is it anything significant, with Nintendo only sprinkling a few upgrades here and there.

I'll still get it though, I'm a teenager with too much expendable income and a questionable obsession with Nintendo.

I just wanted to know some of your guys' thoughts on the "New 3DS"

Personally, I may get one  :)

Just letter you know that I am moving this to our Media Discussion forum. All gaming discussions (including hardware) go there.

I'm actually surprised they added on extra buttons and the C-stick. I mean, it's gonna play the same games as the old 3ds, but with more buttons, kinda wonky.

But yeah, no. Don't want to spend all that cash for a few buttons even if that would mean a more comfortable or intuitive feel to the controls in some games.

I see absolutely no reason to get it if you already have a 3ds. If you don't then I can see the benefits of paying $25 more than the old 3ds xl to get it. Personally I'll never get one unless they start making more games exclusive to it.

Yay. I tried it with a friend, and they improved the 3D a ton, it feels faster, and the little nipple stick feels surprisingly good.
