I never really Trade to be honest. Only a few times with my Brother after he begged me for days XD

I just like to raise pokemon from the start, and there is something about knowing you caught all the ones you travel with that is nice :) For me at least

@@Steel Accord,

That is true, but it isn't it wonderful and humorous how half the time, discussing it's nuances can sound like it's taking place within the universe rather than out of it?

Here's a fun little mental game you can play. Next time your talking with a friend or something about Pokemon, including on this very thread, mentally remove references to the artifice or keep track of how little it's referred to. Then picture two characters talking about it and see if it doesn't sound like it would actually happen within the setting.

hehe, that can happen a lot with other games, especially RPGs :3

But it is still pretty cool, now that I look back and think about it XD

Well I guess it's unique for me because I don't play as many of those as Pokemon.

Pokemon is my second favorite RPG, behind KOTOR, just trumping Elder scrolls :P So I guess I just see it a lot in other games. But you are still right, the Pokemon world is pretty awesome.

Speaking of transportation, it's great the Eon Flute exists because it cuts down traveling by a bit. It's also nice when you have to get somewhere in a hurry, but you don't have Fly learned on any Pokémon.

As for your question, probably Lapras for transportation?

Wait... POKEMON THREAD! This is my kind of thread! My favorite Pokemon is Lucario, hence my pony name "Aura Storm", though Flygon and Ampharos are pretty close.  Also Nintendo: Y U NO Mega Evolve Flygon?!

Random fact: you can scientifically determine the best starter. As an example, here's a study posted by a blogger on Scientific American about which generation I starter is the best (spoiler alert: it's Squirtle, but the overall best non-legendary gen I Pokémon you can get is Gyarados).

Well what if I don't like squirtle? He wouldn't be the best now would he if I resented having chosen him over the starter that really spoke to me?

You know what your team needs? More water types

Why do you like water types?  :)

Basically, he looked at stats, evolutionary lines and movepools, and advantages over gyms. Charmander would lose to the first two, critical gyms, Bulbasaur would win no problem and Squirtle can beat the first one and then is neutral in the second. However, Charmander has an advantage over one gym (Erika), Bulbasaur over two (Brock, Misty) and Squirtle over three in gen I and four in FR/LG (Brock, Blaine, Giovanni, Sabrina in gen III if you keep Bite as that becomes a Dark-type attack).

I understand the purpose, but that assumes winning gym battles is one's ultimate goal. I pick and catch my pokemon chiefly as a way of self-expression, each one says something about me or something I aspire to emulate.

. . . . Is it just me or did that sound like the prompt right before or after a trainer battle?  :P

Sounds like dialogue after a trainer battle.
