Taviscratch 453 March 20, 2015 Share March 20, 2015 Pick a subject and let's go! Ah I see we have a subject. Well Jaden Smith is insane. Like, he seriously needs help...but kind of a cool point when it comes to philosphy. 1 Sig by [member=~TheGammy~]

\/ 651 March 20, 2015 Share March 20, 2015 I'm part Swedish. And Irish. And hispanic. But you know, it doesn't really matter. We're all just people. If we referred to everyone merely as a person, rather than a woman or a man or black or white, old or young, would there be less prejudice in the world? Or would the people who benefitted from their position complain? Enter the Forest...

Taviscratch 453 March 20, 2015 Share March 20, 2015 I'm not British enough to understand that. ;_; I'm British and I don't bloody understand it XD Well on one side I'm a mix of Irish horse thieves and Italian doctors and on the other side I'm English as all fuck. Kind of proud of my roots actually: the English side were responsible for just about building an entire town, upon mentioning my Irish family name to a retired Irish jockey my brother was looking after he said "good people, the [insert family name], might steal your horse though" so I guess the notoriety is kind of cool and I don't know much about my Italian side because the Italians are terrible at documentation but a long lineage of doctors is pretty awesome. If we referred to everyone merely as a person, rather than a woman or a man or black or white, old or young, would there be less prejudice in the world? Or would the people who benefitted from their position complain? Good question, it's something which I'm not sure of. Labels can be used for many things, positive or negative. Of course, labels such as black, white, woman, man, etc. can be used for judgmental people to discriminate against people not like them and such. It's something that is slowly going away with time and further globalization, however, which is something great, but I'm not seeing the labels going away. People like to label themselves and they all still recognize that they are human. Of course, these labels can either bring people together or pull them apart. Referring to people as just humans, I think, would not do much because we would still have subconscious labels of a person and identify them through those labels. The way things work seem to always be built around labels. We label people, we label countries, etc. Labels are everywhere and inevitable. I think that breaking down negative stereotypes would reduce prejudice and hatred around the world more effectively. Hope I said that well, not the best at talking. It's like when people say "oh I just don't see colour"...OF COURSE YOU DO! The difference is if you have preconceptions about somebody because of their colour...or sexual orientation...or sex. Breaking stereotypes is much more important. We should always be allowed to be distinct and adjectives such as black, white, male, female, heterosexual, homosexual etc. actually help this. The problem is the prejudice inside people which needs to be eradicated. As for the stereotypes being broken down, it has to come from all parties, including those who are stereotyped; we cannot break stereotypes if those who are stereotyped live up to said stereotypes. I'm not sure if that made any grammatical sense so I'll put it this way: I am a white, heterosexual cis male and I'm tired of people (admittedly mostly on Tumblr) assuming I'm a bigot. I am not a bigot but there are enough white hetero cis males who are bigots that it is understandable why people assume people like me are all bigots. If we want people to stop assuming we're all dicks then we need to stop being dicks.
