spoiler Did sombra's story just reveal something huge?

That and the fact the crystal heart WEAKENS him not kills him. In the comic it said there were dark crystals buried beneath the empire. Who's to say he isn't among them taking a breather to regen, replan, and recharge before launching a new attack? It's a highly effective strat I myself have used.

As for my fave unicorn wizard: Who knows but that'd be kinda cool to get more info and maybe even see him.

Canon wise it's impossible to completely separate the comics and the show. Some of the info in either has to be legit if it's involved to the plotline of the other, i.e the cade\armor issues had cadence babysitting twi, something mentioned in the show. Another, more recent example is the tirek issue. In one panel a specific draconequus can be seen backing how they knew each other in the show

The sad part is that the creators have confirmed that the Sombra Comic is non-canon

Sounds like a rumor if you ask me.

The canon-ness of the comics have always been a bit fuzzy, I doubt we will ever get a real answer on that.

The closest we ever got to confirmation was here:

Show and Comic canon to remain separate

Clarification on Show and Comic relationship

1. Comics will follow show canon, but show won't necessarily follow comic canon.

2. Comic will stay as close as possible to show

Essentially the way I read this is that the comics are still considered B-canon. They are CANON unless the show conflicts with it.

Of course people may interpret it different ways, but that's how I see it.

IMO, that means they're simply extremely plausible what-if scenarios, be they very good (e.g., FIENDship #1) or barbecue-goat-cheese B.S. (e.g, The Good, The Bad, And The Ponies).

Wait a minute.

Princess Amore was turned to dark crystal (or something) and had the pieces scattered throughout the land.

A few days later it is revealed the six are going to be traveling across Equestria and righting wrongs that they come across.

Is it possible that they could find the pieces of Amore and restore her.

Do you think that this could possibly happen?

(I'm so hyped for this to be true)

I think the Sombra comic was set up almost 100% as a hook to a future arc; Amore being shattered into crystals is 100% a macguffin hook for an arc, with the mane six having to gather her back together, and the Crystal mother of sombra was set up as the "True" big bad of the situation, meaning that there's bigger things at play.

I 100% expect that, sometime down the line, they'll try and continue this arc, given its constant plot hooks (like sombra still being alive) and its positive reception.

I'm rather hoping Hope did something like seal herself in crystal for 1000 years though so she can show up too for the story.

Press 1 for "Comics aren't canon"

To be fair the comics are soft-canon; or B-canon, if you will. They can be considered canon until the show directly contradicts it.

As such I can see this fitting well with Sombra, and it helps that the comics featured Amore; who herself was also in "The Journal of the Two Sisters."

Well, there is something else we have to take into consideration here: The lifespan of an Alicorn. According to Celestia and Luna, they can live for thousands of years, and are possibly immortal. There is a slight possibility Amore could be Cadences Mother. Do we truly know how old Cadence is?

Would that be true for Queen chrysalis too?    and what happened between those two,

Was Chrysalis just born a pony or was she made by her cruel and tragic faith?

  • 1 year later...

I do believe Cadence is Amore's daughter. Thinking of the life span of an alicorn, Amore is able to live for more than a thousand years. This being that it is a high possibility that they are mother and daughter. They also both have AMORE in their names. Yes, it could be that Celestia just liked the name Amore, or that she saw resemblance and named her in honor of the lost Princess, but it is more likely Celestia knew they were related. If you think back to the comics, I can remember Hope mentioning something about Cadence looking like Amore, then Cadence said she never met her parents and she was an orphan. Well if Amore was shattered 1,000 years ago would explain why she never met er mom. Her dad would not be alive 1,000 years in the future though. Unlike many others I don't see anything that could show Hope being Amore's descendant though. Yes I do believe that they should make more things with Sombra, where he and Hope return with a fully pieced together Princess Amore, but this happened in the comics.  To the mlp characters the 'comic world' would be like an alternate universe. What happens in the comics doesn't happen in the episodes, what happens in the episodes is sometimes mentioned in the comics, but that doesn't make it the same. Because of this they will not make this happen, unless they start blending the episodes and comics...Though Sombra is my favorite character(don't judge me) I believe that I may have to start facing the facts that my favorite character has ended his quest to conquer Equestria. Or I might have to start facing the fact that my dear Sombra has lost his way across Equestria and is lost out in the cold winter, still going forth trying to complete his mission the acquire all the pieces of the once lost Princess.......Yet I shan't give up my hope that he will return in the future, with the newly constructed Princess...... :maud:  :twi:

Cadance could possibly be a descendant of Princess Amore. I also believe the book canon that Cadance actually is around Shining Armor's age, and there is the comic arc where they went to high school together. Both Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell and this particular comic arc do both shed light on and shroud in mystery what her origin is, and who her actual family heritage might be.

If she was indeed a Pegasus before becoming an Alicorn, that doesn't rule out Unicorn heritage. My friend thinks that Cadance's DNA didn't completely shift to that of an Alicorn and that Flurry Heart is actually a mix of Unicorn and Pegasus DNA, but I find it highly unlikely that in a world where all three major pony races live together in harmony, no pony every thought about hooking up with somepony of a different species. In the likely scenario where crossbreeding is a common thing, then by my friend's logic there should be way more Alicorns around than just 5.

I bring this up, because I think Cadance herself is part Unicorn. She was able to cast her love spell through a stare in the first novel, much like how Fluttershy uses her obedience stare. My headcanon is that stares like that are magic. A Pegasus may not have an easy conduit to tap directly into their magic like Unicorns with their horns, but we have evidence that a couple can use their eyes. On a side note, I think there's evidence that Rarity has Earth Pony heritage, but I'd rather reign in my tangent here. The point is, ancestry with Princess Amore and the Crystal Ponies is possible for Cadance. Of course that could all just be a forced Anastasia reference that was only an afterthought. We'll probably never know.

On a related note, I'm surprised the comics got away with as much as they did as they usually have to tread lightly in order to avoid conflicting with the show. I'm guessing the writers of the show have no intention of ever using Sombra again except in flashbacks, alternate universe dystopias, etc., so Jeremy Whitley could do what he wanted with him.
