I think that Steven Universe Takes the cake or cookie for The Best Storyline and the humor, and also the interesting backstory of the gems (especially pearl)

Not really. I don't consider any of my favorite cartoons better than each other. But, if I absolutely had to choose a western cartoon to watch over MLP, I would go with Sonic SatAM.

It's not really Western, but it's not quite anime either so I'm going to count it. The French animated series Wakfu is the single greatest cartoon I've ever watched. Both seasons of the cartoon are available dubbed on Netflix, but personally I prefer the original French audio with subs. The animation quality is gorgeous. I really can't describe why the show is so great so just watch this to get a sense for yourself.

I wouldn't exactly say I find it better as a whole, but I feel Steven Universe beats MLP in a few aspects, like in terms of storytelling, character development and pacing.

This show changed my life. That is not an overstatement.

 

However there is one animated show that still stands as not only a life changer for me personally, but I think is our generation's Lord of the Rings . . . oh yeah, I went there!

 Steven Universe: My favorite show. I like how complex, deep, and developed the characters are along with their relationships with one another. I find the lore along with the concept of gems to be interesting. Also the art/animation is gorgeous.

Well Avatar the last airbender could've given it a run for its money. But it lasted so far. And it was good while it lasted. Not sure, because the beauty of My Little Pony is that it has an everlasting experience. Because there are so much fun stuff you can add to ponyville and other ponylands ^ _ ^

 

Other shows i am currently rewatching is "The Legends of Treasure Island". A mini cartoon series. Its not quite like the book classic in terms of story, but it has the setting and uses anthro creatures to sorta portray the mood of the series.

Other show that not MLP, I like is Teenage Muntant Ninja Turtle, new verison, the 80s verison good but liked the new one better. Also enjoy Gravity Falls.

After getting caught up, I really have to say, We Bare Bears is starting to overtake MLP:FiM a bit for me. I mean, I love MLP:FiM and all, but We Bare Bears, especially considering the show is only about over a month old, is just rather fun to watch. It has rather simple plots, but still makes them good, not to mention I like the humor and the Burrito episode had a rather feelsy ending.

 

Not going to say it's downright better just yet, considering it's new and I don't want to jinx things, but it's on that path.

Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall, Steven Universe, and Star Vs. The Forces of Evil are animated kid shows I find I like much more than MLP.

When it comes to Western animation, I think that Avatar is in a league of its own.  Both The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are masterpieces, to the point where it doesn't even seem fair to compare them to anything else.

 

Also, since nobody else has mentioned them yet, other favorites of mine include Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and also Samurai Jack.  I can't say they're necessarily "better" than FiM, but they're both really good.

I'll say Steven Universe for most current showing given the depth of story and the topics they have been taking on.    For not current or now showing I'll hit on TMNT 03 cartoon was my fav and still favorite show and also Danny Phantom was hella good and I loved the show and rewatch it once a year.   Avatar in both cartoons was pure eye candy and was all myths and magic and elemental bending and full on world building and kung-fu!   Gargoyles is just EPIC!   If you have never watched,  SHAME ON YOU!

I'm going with the majority that Gravity Falls and Steven Universe are better in my opinion. I'm still debating whether or not MLP is better than Over the Garden Wall, haha.

I just talk about the shows that are on right now.

 

There is not a show that i would put over MLP, but if there is one show that i think is on an equal level, i say (big surprise) Gravity Falls. Alot of people have already said why it's so good, so the only thing i can say is, watch GF guys.

 

A show i also used to like was Dan vs. Sadly though, it got cancelled after the Hub dissapeared.

I did binge-watch Gravity Falls not too long ago after seeing one episode on the plane, and I love it! I'm kinda afraid the show will end once summer break is over for these kids, though.

 

I think I like the story and humor more in GF, but I really enjoy MLP thanks to the community and fan works; if it weren't for them I'd probably be more indifferent towards FiM.
