Something tells me I am not going to become an artist.

I drew this sketch on paper then took a picture with my phone and touched it up on Photoshop.

If you are an artist please give me tips tips.

(warning may cause seizures for artists)

I recomend to keep drawing everyday. Also something i did was look at other artist and from there start to detail your drawings more and as you get better and better you will develoup your own style. Its great for a first attempt and cant wait to see what else you can come out with :)

Its.....nice.

I'd recommend tracing a picture on paper first. Then, once you've got the outline, look at the other piture to see how it should be shaded. It's a good way of beginning drwing. With each new picture, try to trace lighter and fewer lines, doing more from looking at the other picture. Eventually you'll be able to reference a picture and sketch it fairly well.

Drawing something from memory, tho, or imagination? Well that, my friend, is why "abstract art" is a genre

Hey, don't be too disappointed with how your art turned out. Every artist, myself included, start out pretty badly, but overtime you'll get a whole lot better.

If you want tips, then I'll give you this one. Use references and tutorials at all times if you're going to draw something. While it is possible to draw from memory, it'll give you a much better result if you've checked out references of your pony OC, as well tutorials on how to draw show-accurate ponies. If you're going to look for tutorials, then I highly recommend DeviantArt. Because that there are many experienced artists that are willing to help beginners, you'll probably find a good chunk of pony tutorials there. Then again, I would encourage you to check out tutorials on anything art-related, whether it be shading or creating a background.

Also, try out different kinds of art programs. If you have a computer, then go get Paint Tool SAI. While Photoshop is more meant for photo editing, PTS is meant for digital art, and digital art only. It's easy to use, has a tool that can make line art and is used by many good artists.

I hope your art gets better overtime. Good luck! ;)

At least yours still has all four legs. :P

Anyway, don't worry about it. No one starts out being amazing when it comes to drawing (or anything really). Just keep practicing, and like others have said; references and tutorials are extremely helpful for beginning artists. Oh, and make sure you practice drawing often and consistently. That'll help you improve at a much faster rate. :)

For the love of God dude...

Get Paint Tool SAI.

Paint tool SAI won't make you a better artist!

Learn to draw on paper, first. Practice as often as you can, and always be critical of your own work so that you can improve. The more you draw, the better you'll get. Use references when you need to until you don't need them anymore.

Need help with your OC? I'd love to assist you! Just visit my help thread. It's always open, so don't be shy!

  • 6 months later...

I know this is late, but my only advice is to just get used to how pony anatomy looks. There are tons of reference guides online. Use 'em like you use your phone every day. :)
