Equestrian History

With the amount of world building that has been happening in the latest season, does any one else think that there will be a substantial amount of Equestrian history that will be revealed in the upcoming episodes or seasons? I would adore to know who ruled before Celestia and Luna, and more broadly, what the relations between the different countries in Equestrian are.

I would say it is a possible as every season adds a little bit more to the mythology and lore surrounding Equestria, and I dare say the mission to spread friendship across Equestria is a means to that end.
