That's not the point.

The point is

Three games worth of "choice" amounted to the color of the explosion and the members that survived. All those game hours wasted on a predetermined ending. All they had to do was make two endings and one more cinematic, but they couldn't be assed to do so.

That and last minute characters to push story are a lame trope.

For me, the saddest moment had to be at the ending of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future... Seriously, I played through the whole game, and the story... Gosh... At the ending, before the credits played... I don't think I've ever cried over a video game as bad as I did with Unwound Future... And the music... Oh gosh...

The scene starts at 3:27 btw

John Marston dying in RDR.

Roman dying in GTA IV.

Having to kill Playboy X or Dwayne in GTA IV.

Having to kill Mikhail in GTA IV

Rockstar has a habit of killing the best characters.

Also, just found out that the voice actor for 8-Ball died two years ago.

Psychonauts - Milla's nightmare. Also wins the award for biggest 'Oh god what the hell' moment of 2005.

I would like to add

Watching that one reel of Milla's memories, it shows the bad memory. Coupled with the room with the childrens chairs and the fact that the Nightmares are inside a cage and outside is on fire. it felt really sad, especially given the tone of the rest of that level.

I was playing a game called Battle for Middle-earth 2 and I had a user with about 4000 wins and 1000 losses then I thought I'd create another user and I did. I played very serious and got about 1500 wins and 0 losses. Then I joined a game and left without thinking about what I was doing.. You get a lose when you leave a game. Then when I got that one lose I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO xD

While not quite the saddest moment, I think it deserves to be mentioned.

When Link and Zelda reunite in "Skyward Sword". Zelda finally explains why she had to be on the run for the whole game, and starts crying. I won't give everything away, but I will say that you'll just want to give her a big hug.

I hear you, I was waiting for Layton to come up with something and then this...

Also, Fallout 3 (no extras at that point), sending Dogmeat away before the final assault, knowing, I'd never see him again... :(

None of these can even hold a candle to "Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core" for the PSP.

I'll try and keep this as short as possible, if you even read this.

Zack Fair, the real hero of FF7, is a SOLDIER agent working on his lifelong dream to become a true Hero.

Throughout all the trials and tribulations he faces on his missions he finally gets promoted to SOLDIER First Class.

On the last mission he gets send on he is captured and is used in an experiment with his friend Cloud Strife (you should all know him).

He escapes and saves Cloud who is in a comatose state from MAKO poisoning.

Anyway he becomes a fugitive and it all condenses down to this:

You might cry watching this too...

THIS WAS THE ONLY VIDEO GAME TO MAKE ME CRY, LITERALLY. I cried for about an hour. I connected with the character on a whole other level and it felt like I lost a loved one or something. I dunno, this game just struck a blow to me...I highly reccommend you play this.
