music Songs that are personal to you

Well, I don't know if personal is the correct word, but at over 6200 plays in my iTunes library, this song is by a WIDE margin the most played song I own. I've clocked over 18 days of straight listening with this song.

Anything by either SoGreatandPowerful or TheDashDub. I feel a little melancholic when listening to their music these days after having listened to them for multiple years. I have a few reasons as to why, but none of them seem to be perfect answers. I don't believe it's just nostalgia.

Bliss to the ears, isn't it...

Helped me through a lot back in the day.

Whoops! Looks like that link has been blocked due to copyright issues. Down below is a link to a live performance version of that song that's legally uploaded.

Two song spring to mind for me:

Ghost love Score by Nightwish:

This is one of my favorite songs of all time and the really personal aspect is one line towards the end. "Redeem me into childhood, show me myself without a shell." This line represents the writer's, Toumas, will to have the innocence of a child essentially, to have that feeling, because his childhood was so wonderful. I am a child at heart, definitely and this line really connects to my personality.

The other is Ashamed by The Browning:

This song centers around not being ashamed of who you are and accepting yourself. Self acceptance is a very important thing to me and I often struggle with it, but this song is a wonderful reflection for the subject.

There are some songs that would strike me as personal for me. But i think i only post two.

Not only is this one of the few songs i tear up, it was also number 1 on the US and UK billboard charts, at the day i was born. So this song is kind of linked with me.

I once sung this song to LZRD, after he wasn't so sure if our relation was going to survive this long distance. I convinced him to stay with me. :)

Please, don't be afraid to talk to me. I am not as unapproachable, as you might think.

Both are excellent songs and also hit me close to the heart. Esp. Phil's other songs

I cry pretty much every time.

Lyrics, for those who want to know:

Older brother, restless soul, lie down
Lie for a while with your ear against the earth
And you’ll hear your sister sleep talking
Say, “Your hair is long but not long enough to reach
Home to me
But your beard
Someday might be”

And she woke up in a cold sweat on the floor
Next to a family portrait drawn when you were four
And beside a jar of two cent coins that are no good no more
She’ll lay it aside

Older father, weary soul, you’ll drive
Back to the home you made on the mountainside
With that ugly, terrible thing
Those papers for divorce
And a lonely ring
A lonely ring
Sit on your porch
And pluck your strings

Oh, and you’ll find somebody you can blame
And you’ll follow the creek that runs out into the sea
And you’ll find the peace of the Lord.

Grandfather, weary soul, you’ll fly
Over your life once more before you die
Since our grandma passed away
You’ve waited for forever and a day
Just to die
And someday soon
You will die

It was the only woman you ever loved
That got burnt by the sun too often when she was young
And the cancer spread and it ran into her body and her blood
And there’s nothing you can do about it now

This song hits quite close to home for me. I have a friend who got involved in an incident similar to the person in this song...

"Have you ever felt the need to see more than you can see?"
