Why is Apple Bloom the leader of the CMC?

I've noticed that Apple Bloom is more or less the leader of the CMC, but why? Is it because she owns the clubhouse they use for headquarters?

She is an Apple after all. Think about it, if Twilight was not in the picture Applejack would be the one running the show. She is the most down to earth and stable pony when it comes to hard decisions and helping the others to help themselves.

Apple Bloom grew up seeing that and Applejack's traits were passed to her. She is down to earth and she keeps the group from falling apart.

She isn't afraid to stand up and take the lead when others are a bit nervous or scared, she plants her hoof and doesn't back down.

It was Applebloom who started the CMC if you think about it....but I don't think she's leader. What I love about the CMC is that they all play leaders of the group whenever they are in a situation that deals with their expertise. Like how Scoots led in "Flight to the finish" and Sweetie Bell led in "Hearts and Hooves day" and "Twilight Time". Each have their turn.

I see their group as more of a democracy.....one does not hold official power over the other which is why they work so well as a team. Applebloom just like to call meetings. I'm sure whenever the others want to, they are free to.

Because Apple Bloom is the best one. Or at least, the smartest. Furthermore, she can take charge and direct the group, and the fact that she's a Blossom expy only helps matters.

Well, Applebloom is most likely the leader because she's an Apple. Applejack is usually the leader if Twilight isn't, so it's kinda heredity.

I kinda see the cmc as a "counterpart" and or "pony version" of the Powerpuff Girls. Applebloom would be Blossom, Sweetie Bell is Bubbles, and Scootaloo would be Buttercup. They both are smart, strong, and know how to handle decisions. Just an idea :)

Fun fact: the CMC were created by the Powerpuff girls. Her husband.....or was it her?....produced The Powerpuff Girls show

Lauren made the "Power Puff Girls" didn't she? I didn't know that the cmc were inspired by them. Thanks for the fun fact! I love learning silly things like that :)

Apple Bloom doesn't come across to me like the leader. All three of them seemed to be pretty involved in the search for their cutie marks and coming up with ideas on how to get them. Apple Bloom did, however, seem to be the most self-conscious about not having her mark and obsessed with getting it, so that may have affected how she came across to others.

There are a number of reasons besides the fact that she is best pony's little sister.  :smug:

As others have said, she is based on Blossom of the Power Puff Girls, the leader of that group. She was the first of the three that we met in the show and the whole CMC arch was originally started by her.

The 3 CMC's character dynamic, just like the Power Puff Girls before them and their older counterparts in the show, AJ,RD and Rarity, consists of the tomboyish tough one, the cute girly one and the level headed strait man. When these three character types are matched together, the strait man will more often than not take the lead.

What you should be asking is why we only knew about the one while we knew all of the mane six. Logically if we knew about aj and 'bloom being a sibling pair why weren't we introduced to the other two (at least Rare and Swibbs) sooner since they are siblings. I get that dash and scoots never hung out much since it took for the nightmare episode for them to be "sisters". It seems more like since we were introduced to one family right away why shouldn't we have been introduced to them all.

Anywho why 'bloom? We knew her, the episode was kinda centered on her, and maybe it was decided right there at the party or later voted upon at the treehouse.

Since AJ was the first of the remain 5 that we met and the fact that her and her family have been much more important to the show overall than Rarity's family has been, it makes sense that we would stick with Apple Bloom as the central CMC character.

It's probably because she was the first of the characters to be properly introduced to the show. If I recall correctly, the CMC was Applebloom's idea and the show only ever focused on Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo AFTER they met Applebloom. There wouldn't have been another good way for the writers to introduce the CMC other than having it tied to an already established character.

I wouldn't have it any other way *best crusader* ahem but anyways all friendship groups have a more dominant speaker and she is best suited to do it :D maybe it's something she picked up from AJ with her being in charge and all. Sweetie Belle seems to think before she speaks a lot more than the other two and Scootaloo is just well Scootaloo.

I was going to say pretty much this, but since it's already been said, there's no need. So I'll just agree :)

It came down to Applebloom being the first character that stressed on not receiving her cutie marks and became the smash hit for that category. Her episodes seem to revolve around cutie marks which is the main theme of the Cutie Mark Crusaders such as getting the Cutie Pox and worrying that her Cutie Mark will end up one that she doesn't like.

While I agree with some of the others above that all of the CMC play a part in the leadership role, Applebloom seems as though she's the leader because she can mediate between Scoots and Sweetie. If Scootaloo took charge all the time, the CMC would probably have either gotten badly hurt or even killed by this point because she has no sense of fear, whereas if Sweetie took the reigns they probably never would have stood up to Diamond Tiara or helped Troubleshoes find his talent- she's kind of the perfect medium between Scoots' bravery and Sweetie's self-preservation. She pushes them to take the risks they need to, while also using enough common sense to keep them out of the Hospital.

Well, IDK that I'd say Apple Bloom is the leader, exactly.  But, she does get more attention focused on her than the other 2 combined.  Especially this season there has been little on the other 2 except when she is there as well.

Years of television and other media

have led us to subconsciously view anyone with a little red in their design

to be the leader, and

I know that there are a few exceptions

but the red rule still affects many common fandoms .

I don't consider her the 'leader' to be honest. She does seem to be the most forward thinking, at times, but overall they all seem to work together as one force. As for why she gets the most attention, which is why many may think she is the leader, I have no clue. I guess I would consider her the 'main' Crusader but not the leader of the group.

Because applebloom honestly has little to nothing to her character BESIDES being a cutie mark crusader. Applebloom's character is that she wants to be an adult and the older characters don't take her seriously. This started with her in Bridle gossip, and it carries over into her wanting to get a cutie mark, a sign of adulthood.

The other two have multiple facets to who they are: Scoots has her desire to fly and her desire to emulate rainbow dash. Sweetie belle has her singing and her ditzy airheadedness that works for other episode ideas.
But applebloom really only has her Desire to be seen as an adult (and by proxy get a cutie mark). As such, since this defines who she is, she naturally falls into the leader role. Think of it like how the Concepts of the EOH have ended up being what twilight's purpose is in life, while the whole thing with the thrones and the map are just a side job for the other 5 currently.

I think she has been shown as a natural leader throughout the show. She is not 'the leader' of the CMCs but is obviously very focused. Afterall , she started the group.
