Favorite villain/antagonist so far?

We can all agree that Discord, Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon are awesome (in that order).

 

But King Sombra is a waste of time. It just happens to exist, then leaves the place. Such a waste of potential! D:

No background story (or at least not one that was worth to watch), no awesome stuff and we see Twilight Sparkle in her lowest (except for, you know, Double Rainboom).

 

King Sombra MUST return in the 4th wall brea- mean, season, and blow the "#$% out of the whole place. With some epic Pinkie Pie stuff.

Want an amazing villain who doesn't really have a gay ass emo childhood? Look for Kefka Palazzo from FF VI. That guy is just AMAZING! And doesn't really have a background story, but still has an amazing personality.

 

Now, don't get me wrong. I said King Sombra MUST return in the 4th season. We need to know more about him, what motivates him (without any gay ass emo story, please). We need to hate this character because of the right reasons (if we're going to hate him at all), not just because it was a waste of potential.

Actually I think he will return to corrupt Twilight at first. but then builds a new stable body for himself and wrecks everybody and fights the element of harmony equally

After corrupting Twilicorn to get rid of her as a threat. Then her friends would try save her in order to defeat King Sombra (something that doesn't happen in the series, is always Twilight saving the others). This would be so awesome! O_O

Discord is my favorite. I'm actually kinda curious about his origins and what made him the embodiment of chaos in the first place. In a way, he reminds me of Impmon/Beelzemon from Digimon Tamers. Both characters started out as villains and ended up redeeming themselves.

Came in to say that my favorite now is Chrysalis.

She's just so great, especially if you have read the comics.

Not to mention with Discord being good now (Or is he....) she definitely takes the top spot easily show wise as well.

She's just so interesting and I hope a return is planned for season 4.

For me it was a hard choice between Discord and Chrysalis. Both are cool, gave the ponies a run for their money, left Twilight down in the dumps and came soooooo close to victory. But Chrysalis beat Discord in my book with one very important factor; VILLAIN SONG!

  

 

Chrysalis is a babe, not going to lie. I think it's the hair and eyes.
 

 

I agree Chrysalis is strangely pretty. She's part insect and she's got holes in her legs but she's beautiful in a very creepy, evil way.

Chrysalis. I like her personality and I find her parasitic powers much more interesting than random chaos and dark magic. 

 

As for the minor antagonists, I'm split between Trixie and Diamond Tiara. I might have to come back to this later...

Discord is by far my favorite Main Villain, although I supposed he has given up that mantle. Still, his time of villain in Return of Harmony and the bit of villainous stuff we did get to see in Keep Calm and Flutter On was delightful. Not to say I don't like all the villains, but Discord is simply the best in my opinion.

 

As for minor antagonists, it was a very close one, but I'll give it to the Flim Flam Brothers. I almost voted for Gilda, but I simply like Flim and Flam more due to having an awesome song, being pretty funny and entertaining to watch, and the fact they are con artists and I love characters like that. Lightning Dust and Trixie are also cool as well. In fact, I just like all the villains and antagonists in general, but I guess I do have favorites among them.

I think Gilda, while not so much a foe as a jaded allie or anti-hero (google dinobot from beastwars). She is a character I want to see a lot more of. While I am no dash-head, there friendship really made feel for her. I related to them on a level I wasn't ready for and frankly they pony gals need a bitch around. Rarity and Dash and even AJ have had there moments,and I do realize the point is frienship, but real friends aren't always all lovey dovey, youths need to know that. Reality is she DID COME BACK TOO SEE HER FRIEND AND WAS MOLEFIED, by the mane 6. The writters didn't even give her a chance to return for peace a second time.

For my favorite villain it's a tie between Chrysalis and Discord. I like Chrysalis because she was actually evil and had an evil plan I also like Discord too because he's really funny and loves chaos . As for my favorite antagonist I like Trixie because she has her funny moments.

When I first watched the series I hated Discord with a passion. I thought he was a giant DB and couldn't stand him. As time has gone by and I have re-watched the series more and more I have come to really appreciate Discord and he has grown on me as my favorite antagonist. The King Sombra and Queen Chrysallis storylines were really well down too, but Discord all the way.

I'm torn.  I love both Discord and Nightmare Moon so much I can't choose between the two!  I mean Discord is so delightfully chaotic, but Nightmare Moon has that air of elegant badassery to her that I love so much.

I'm surprised Nightmare Rarity was listed on here. I saw her in the copy of the comics I have, but Discord definitely wins. For the lower section, I like Flim and Flam.

Precisely as Stellafera said, Lightning Dust is wonderful because she is able to highlight what makes Rainbow Dash great by serving as a contrasting character. While there are other fun minor antagonists, none of them really have that connection that makes Lightning so great. By being reckless, selfish and arrogant, she proved that when it comes down to it, Rainbow Dash really isn't.
