Your Duh Moments

Leave a Whisper

Recommended Posts

We've all had those brainless moments where we wondered What was I thinking? Then getting a good laugh out of it afterwards.

Last Saturday I was making pancakes, had em mixed up and turned on the fire, only to realize that the frying pan was on the counter and the mixing bowl on the stove. Whoops. ^^'

In my defense, I'm "up and awake" in the morning but my brain doesn't function properly for a couple of hours.

What are some of your Duh moments in life?

When I first got Facebook. Asking my cousin, "So what's your name on Facebook?"

As if the rest of Facebook was filled with usernames like Blazemaster96 or something.

Hey, when your birth certificate says Blazemaster96, why would you want to use anything else? ;)

Went to Deadpool last Saturday with my brother. He called to let me know he was pulling up in front of the house. I'm halfway to the front door, and turn around saying "Oh, hold on, I forgot my phone"... into my phone... I made it all the way back into my room, searched for 5 whole minutes, froze, realized what had happened, and never talked about it again.

I was trying out my new microphone, and I did not realize that I pressed the mute button on the mic, I also forgot to plug it in.

When I realized that it wasn't plugged in, I tried to record and seen that no sounds were made, I legitimately took 15 minutes trying to figure out what was the issue on my computer, only to find out that the little red dot was telling me that the mic was muted.

One time, I shook a carton of orange juice after I had opened it. The juice ended up all over me and all over the floor.

There was another time when I was using a can of spray paint, and the nozzle clogged up. I turned it around to check it, and of course, that's when it decided to go off. Spray paint right in the eye.

When I was only 9 years old, in my home country...

You do NOT want to know what I did.

Read at your own risk.

I chewed on a rusty steel wire fence. Looking back at that moment of my life when I was younger, I never felt so embarrassed about myself. I have no idea what the hell was going on in my mind when I decided to chew on rusty wire.

Last summer I walked into what my brain registered as a "car parts store"; I was prompted in by a banner proclaiming 'free air checks.' I told them right away I was there for the free check since my A/C wasn't working at all. The mechanic kind of laughed and said, "Ma'am, this is Tires Plus. We only do tires. The free air check is for the air inside...your tires."

As if the 95°F weather without A/C wasn't awful enough, having all the blood rush to my face as I apologized and walked out didn't help lol

You know how some people throw away their candy and keep the wrapper? I tend to do that with everything.

For example, when I finally got my new Kindle Voyage I eagerly tore the packaging open, threw the Kindle away to the side and stared at the package with a smile on my face for a full second before I realized what I did.

Oops. Well don't worry about it, I'm sure we've all done something like that at least once.

I was putting money down on a pre-order and accidentally handed the cashier a handful of receipts.

Today, I was programming a web app at work and for whatever reason, a message definition file wouldn't update. I was so frustrated because I saw the updated file, but the app was acting like nothing had changed.

I tried everything, closing and reopening the site, adding a whole bunch of var_dumps to see what was happening with the variables... Then I noticed a stray session variable. It turns out the file contents were cached and I had honestly forgotten I had written that code to speed up the crappy performance. I spent almost 40 minutes bashing my head on the keyboard looking for a bug which ACTUALLY WAS a feature. Ugh...

I sometimes set a thing down (my glasses, for example) to do something else. When I get back to what I was doing, I forget where I placed them.

Once I misplaced my guitar by setting it on the top of my bunk bed. I felt pretty stupid because it's nearly impossible to misplace a guitar.

My mom once was looking for her phone before we left the house. She told me and my brother to go look for it in her room. We looked for about 10 minutes and we finally tried calling her cell phone. It turned out, her phone wasnt in her purse, it was in her jacket that she had on. :D

I went to a water park with my family a couple years ago so this meant I didn't have my glasses on. I was walking with these three people who looked like a few relatives who came with me for 15 minutes or so until I finally sped up ahead of them and realized I was walking with the wrong people

I went to disney when I was six and ended up almost getting on a ride with the wrong people because I used to look at my feet when I walk instead of up, and I didn't realise where I was in line...

  • 4 weeks later...

I've left my backpack at home on multiple occasions. I remember one time walking down the street for school, thinking I had forgotten something, and I didn't realize until first period, when I had to get my notebook. Sadly, I've had a lot of 'duh' moments in my life - I space out often, and am the first to admit I'm not the brightest bulb in the bunch.

I was once halfway through getting dressed and stressing out I was going to be late for work because 'my alarm went off an hour too late' before I realized that it was Sunday and my alarm was set because I had a tournament that day. I then proceeded to almost put my phone in the dishwasher while simultaneously trying to shove my empty glass into my pocket. Then I started putting on my coat, which I never do for tournaments, while forgetting to grab my fencing bag from the living room.

Needless to say, that tournament did not go well.

When I know I need to buy a item at the store,  even if I make a list and recheck it and get reminded on it.   I will always forget that one item I really need when it comes to making dinner......(last Saturday I forgot the bbq for the ribs and I was making BBQ) :=:

Once my friend had some candy. It looked like, to me, a candy that I really enjoy and it was chewy. I was all like "Oh, I love those things!" And took one and chomped down, expecting it to be the aforementioned chewy variety. No. No...It was a rock-solid candy. Needless to say, I felt sorta stupidy after that. XD
