general Millenials don't eat cereal?

I actually agree with a lot of these. Milk is annoying because you have to go to the freakin' store all the time to replenish. My wife and brother in law use so much milk I am going to resupply every 2-3 days versus the week it would last if I used it just for ingredients and casual drinking like I do. The stuff that is good for you is the worst tasting and the stuff that is the worst for you is the best tasting, and eggs and pancakes definitely are a much better and rewarding breakfast.

I'm also getting tired of all the propaganda to try and convince people that millenials are lazy. It's just crap created by the baby boomer generation to have an excuse not to listen to legitimate complaints that millenials are presenting by brushing all of their complaints under the rug as "whining" and "entitlement". Millenials are being called entitled for wanting to be able to get jobs that pay more than minimum wage after working for minimum wage for 5 years and not being able to pay for basic needs. So what do baby boomers do? Make more crap that says millenials are lazy so they have an excuse not to listen.

I got tired of eating cereal after having to eat it every fucking day throughout grade school. According to tv, cereal is supposed to be "part of a complete breakfast", so, if one wants the grain and dairy with ones breakfast one should eat it in conjunction with other foods, but I'd settle for Greek yogurt for dairy and some granola for grain any day over cold cereal with milk. F that soggy mess.

Forget the bowls and forget the milk, grab that cereal bar on the go, no time to sit and make your breakfast look all pretty like on the box with the sliced strawberries on the rice crispies with the perfectly angled spoon and all that.

they took a poll and outright ASKED why millenials don't eat cereal, to which the millenials themselves said they were too lazy to clean up after. That's not baby boomers creating crap, bro, that's them getting it straight from the horses mouth

If breakfast is so great how come you have to eat it at the objectively worst time of the day. If I had the time and energy in the morning to have a full English or even just an omelette I totally would, regardless of cleaning up. But I'm not waking up slightly earlier just to eat! And cereal gets boring after two mornings of it. So if I gotta choose between obsessing over my hair or giving my body essential nutrition, I'm picking my hair every time.

I like cereal, and have no problem cleaning the bowls... But I do eat it dry. Lol. My problem is that it inevitably upsets my stomach and I end up in the bathroom and I really don't like that.

Who conducted the survey and decided it was news worthy? Surveys are inherently not a good form of research because their survey size is tiny. The original article was made by Kim Severson, a writer for New York Times which is a publication frequented by baby boomers. The writer herself is in the baby boomer generation. That being said, the original article doesn't even state their survey size or anything. For all we know, 40% is a number they pulled out of their ass to make millenials look bad. Publications targeted at the older generation generally do nothing but try to impose the idea that the new generation is lazy and entitled to keep the mindset that they don't have to do anything for them, or give them crap.

The original article conveniently didn't link the source, which I am currently looking for with no luck apparently you have to pay to get the data. So convenient that the source is locked up behind a paywall so few people can check their facts.

I eat cereal. Well in truth it's more like horse-feed. I eat rolled oats and baked grains with little to no sugar, and i don't use cold milk, i actually heat it up and make more of a porridge out of it. Regardless is it really that much of an inconvenience to clean bowls?

Um, I eat cereal every day now. Frosted Shredded Wheats for the win! : D Sure, I will eventually have to get more milk and clean ze bowls, but it doesn't bother me much. Cereal is worth the effort! I don't why so many might have such disdain towards our whole grain friend. :c

I'd like to see the actual questions and results of this survey. Neither this article nor the one it links to say anything beyond "Almost 40 percent of the millennials surveyed by Mintel for its 2015 report said cereal was an inconvenient breakfast choice because they had to clean up after eating it."

Also, I and everybody I know eats a ton of cereal.

Apparently they're too lazy to clean the bowls, afterward. Surprising? No. Pathetic? Very.

What are your thoughts on such a sad excuse millenials make to avoid cereal?

Wow, really? Not cleaning bowls is a sign of an entire generation being pathetic?

I mean first of all, I AM a Millenial, I DO eat cereal, and I DO clean my bowls. So already your argument is invalid.

If breakfast is so great how come you have to eat it at the objectively worst time of the day. If I had the time and energy in the morning to have a full English or even just an omelette I totally would, regardless of cleaning up. But I'm not waking up slightly earlier just to eat! What are you talking about? I love the morning. If I get up anytime past 9:30 I'm depressed.

How dare they.

I eat cereal for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner (I don't have a lot of money). Actually, what is a "millenial"? someone born post-2000? or anyone born since the 90s?

I eat cereal. I don't actually eat it much for breakfast when I do, but gotta love 'em Lucky Charms and such!1

I actually don't usually eat cereal with milk though, too soggy for my liking. never really got the appeal xd

I know I shouldn't have an opinion because I'm generation z and not y, (millennials) but I'm going to have an opinion anyways! I don't eat cereal because I don't like it. Eggs are much better, and I actually make my eggs, so it's not like I'm lazy or anything. Scrambled, in a burrito, as an omelet, fried, hard boiled, I love eggs.

That's cray. If I get up anytime before 9.30 my day is already ruined. Most likely explained by the fact that I find going to bed before 1am impossible.

Cereal isn't good for you.

On the contrary, adding Vitamin D to cereals was (I understand) a major step in reducing the occurrence of rickets, not to mention that not having enough fibre in your diet can be very unpleasant.

Of course, an awful lot of cereals have far too much sugar, which can pose severe problems, but high sugar content is a far more widespread issue.

As for the article, I read it as tongue-in-cheek rather than serious, and as has been pointed out the data from this survey is rather difficult to come by.

About the survey...

What was the sample size and demographic? What did they use as dependent/independent variable? Did they consider random and systematic error? What is the standard deviation? Is this a sign of correlation or causation? How were the questions framed?

Said article did not give many of the mentioned information, hence the validity of the survey is questionable.

On a side note, I do often eat cereal, cook a bit, and wash dishes, so I guess I'm one of the exceptions? Or not?

What's up with all the hate on millennials?   I find it incredibly rude and obnoxious.

But yeah, cereal fucking sucks for the most part. I don't eat breakfast usually but when I do it's not cereal. Not because I don't wanna clean the bowls, but because it's boring and bland.
