Since it has changed the way I interact with others and has helped me learn to be open with myself and others. So if I had to guess, if I never watched MLP, I would still be a shy person, with little to no social skills and therefore not many friends. If there's one thing fanficing MLP taught me, it's the basics of writing. During this time, I started to take my writing seriously and not just do horrible things in my writing. Judging by some other bronies I've talked to the story is almost a cliche. Lots of people have found joy and purpose in life because of MLP and fellow bronies. I'm the same. Judging by some other bronies I've talked to the story is almost a cliche. Lots of people have found joy and purpose in life because of MLP and fellow bronies. The lessons and values that the show has taught me over the years has really allowed me to gain more empathy towards others. Honestly if I wouldn't have watched MLP or found this community in first place I'd still be the same cynical, arrogant asshole I used to be before becoming a brony. I enjoy it, sure, love drawing ponies and all that too. But it's had little to no actual impact on my life. Seriously though I can imagine my view of the fandom being potentially very bad if I had never actually seen the show. Just going from what most of the internet says about us. That's not to say I'm a super judgmental person(I watched the show for the exact opposite reason) just that I likely wouldn't care to challenge the stereotypes that pervade in the mainstream. I enjoy that the fandom is so active so I can participate in forums like this one, but it doesn't have a huge impact on my life. It mainly determines the kind of fanfics I write.
