The forum game.

People on forums are a bunch of childish whiners when it comes to video games. People don't know how to enjoy video games anymore, even GREAT games get tons of shit and are viewed as "uninspired"

Tis why I'm on forums less, less failure of people who call themselves gamers and more of me having awesome smexy times with my amazing games of awesome.

You bring up good points Raronoopa, and I agree with you that most people don't appreciate games enough.

But not coming to the forums because of that isn't a very good reason. :(

I meant forums in general (I go on a lot of gaming forums) plus I only ever spend my time on the Media Center board here on MLPforums too...lol

When Season 3 starts up I'll likely visit other parts but for now I just stick around here since it's what I do: Media.

Sonic Heroes. I used to be in love with it, but looking back it's pretty crappy. It's just going through the same levels 5 or 6 times around, just with a different set of characters. >_<

It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again...

People have the right to love and hate what they want. Everyone has their own tastes and they are not any lesser for them.

Before i call hypocrisy on this, I'd like to hear you opinions on the modern warfare series. Or how about the sonic series or any other series or any other "popular to hate" series.

I absolutely adore the Sonic series. Never played Modern Warfare though. I'm the type who loves pretty much every game I get my hands on but the point I'm trying to make is when people have fantastic games like Resident Evil 4 and 5, or see fantastic looking games like Tomb Raider or The Last Of Us, and all they see is uninspired or average games. If you are seeing uninspired or average games you have no idea what you are even looking at. Opinions are opinions but there's a point when people are just being spoiled brats.

They are realists and like to be pessimistic about things like these. The demo for "The Last of Us" was impressive sure, but remember that live demos are highly controlled and are often misleading. People have a case for being cautious. I was impressed, but my expectations aren't too high, because that will usually ruin the game for you. It's better to be surprised positively than negatively. Tomb raider might look like a good game but is it going to be. It might be, but people have their right to doubt it too.

It's not childish to want the best out of your games especially when you are the one paying for them. It's more this: "Do i want to spend money on this game that i think is mediocre or do i want to play a game that i think is great."

I'm not really picky about games either and like many games that are even considered terrible by others, but you don't see me dissing people unjustly based on their opinions and their tastes. Why does it matter if some people are more picky about their games?

It matters because it poisons the minds of others. One person starts "pointing out" flaws and others start seeing these supposed flaws and it all comes down to people wanting games to be perfect when they aren't. People obviously don't remember the days when games actually were terrible like Crazy Bus or Captain Novaline. Game quality has gone up so much that there is no such thing as a terrible game (except the rare example like Sonic 06 that wasn't even completely programmed before it was released)

It infects more and more people and people just don't know how to enjoy a game anymore and on top of that they start insulting others who DO enjoy or look forward to these games that are equally as fantastic. People are spoiled brats these days because they look a gift horse in the mouth and say "meh"

Video games are technical MARVEL and yet people look at them like a drawing a first grader drew when they don't match up to their impossibly high standards. It's infuriating when people will think that way and then insult me for seeing something great in all of these games. I've played video games long enough to know what I'm looking at and controlled or not The Last Of Us and Tomb Raider look exactly like what they are: Fantastic games that were made with an incredible amount of skill to be both cinematic as well as chock full of gameplay. It's even been proven that The Last Of Us changes every time you play through a certain part based on what you do, what order you kill enemies in, what rooms you are in when it happens, etc.

On top of that there was the gameplay video of Tomb Raider sometime in 2011 (I don't remember exactly when it was) that showed what the game would be like. It's true the games look smoother because it's a person who's played the game before but that doesn't mean it somehow means they are trying to make the game look better than it is. 90% of gamers are spoiled brats who can't see something good when they see it. it's a totally different story if it's "It's not my preference" but when someone is looking at something good and calling it crap that's when I draw the line. And I DON'T believe in putting monetary value on a video game. It's one thing if it's your financial situation that's stopping you from buying full price games but if you are saying things like "it's not worth $40, I'll wait til the price drops" then you are essentially saying that the game is ANY different at $20. The game doesn't change at all between $20 and $40 yet people act like it somehow makes the game better.

Have you ever heard of people being "jaded" gamers? Jaded gamers are created by forums full of other jaded gamers. The moment people start listening to others or using reviews to decide if they want a game is when they start "seeing things they didn't before"

If you would enjoy a game without seeing these supposed flaws, and then you suddenly see these flaws because someone pointed out and it makes you not like a game you are allowing your opinion to be altered by someone else instead of making the decision for yourself.

This topic is not worth discussing if it's going down this road... You are Insulting the intelligence of many gamers by generalizing them with that ludicrous statistic you pulled out from thin air...

Any Call Of Duty game ever. I always buy it, lying to myself, "This one is going to be awesome and a lot better than the old one!" I always become dissapointed with those.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness for me.

I was VERY. VERY disappointed by that game. It was an absolute chore, they made these endlessly-repetitive hub areas which have to load between them without ANY warning at all so god help you if you have no idea where to go, and you won't.

The combat was stupid, and the controls were AWFUL. THEY SWAPPED THE JUMP AND ROLL BUTTONS. I LITERALLY ROLLED OFF A LEDGE. MANY TIMES.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, AND WHY WOULD YOU NOT GIVE ME AN OPTION TO CHANGE IT YOU STUPID PEOPLE?!

UGH

RCT3: I was thinking something massive when it came out. I was so excited when i got it. I played it and quickly found out it was the worst of all the games.

You're right, and I'm sorry, but I just can't stand the way people treat games these days. Besides, everything I see says nothing otherwise. All I see on Gamefaqs, Kotaku, IGN, Youtube videos for games and trailers, etc. is complaint after complaint. Of every 1 user who likes something there's always 10 or more who will hate it and insult those who do like it for having "bad taste"

I'm the type who tries to respect all opinions but when it comes down to it people don't appreciate how much work is put into video games. They only see that it doesn't add up to their very particular preferences and that it sucks because it's not pandering to their every need. People allow one thing to ruin games for them no matter how good it is otherwise. Gameplay sucks but the story, voice acting and graphics are great: The game sucks balls. Gameplay is awesome but it has horrible voice acting and it's story is "childish" = the game sucks and you should be ashamed for liking it.

This is all I see day in and day out on every gaming related forum or discussion no matter where it is.

.

-Map design (Map design is what made Akimbo FMGs so overpowered, the Type 95 complained by many, and deathstreaks more powerful than nescessary. Most of them are clusterfucks, and all of them are only small-medium sized, making the previous things stated more potent. They also have HORRENDOUS spawns. The spawns on some of the maps are soooooo bad I wanna kick the game's programming in the digital balls)

Horrendous spawns? Jesus H. Christ, tell me about it. If you're on PS3, check my fileshare. I believe I should still have a video. I spawned right inside someon's MK14 sights.

@OP

Dark Souls. Just way too easy. The MP was fucked up compared to Demon, yet the design was so much better. I loved having no hub, like the Nexus, but this made it WAY too easy for me, because I just blew through the game. I died 3 times. And yes, Demons had uchi pushers, but I could always overcome them unlike the unfortunate lv 720 and my lv 60 going up in the forest. Just a bunch of soul farming douches...

Well, Dark is tied w/ MW3. I liked BLOPS once it got to the 3rd pack, where they fixed most major connection issues, and nerfed the augmas pandemic, and HC made every gun equal, and I enjoyed the M14 again. MW3 butchered the story, took Ghost and gave it steroids. They took the Deagles and made them full auto (FMGs), and ruined sniping with map design as bad as BLOPS. I sold MW3, and MW2. I still play MW1 though. In my heart, it will always be the best.

Thanks for listening to my rant, Frenzy, tuning out.

I just wanted to point out that Crazy Bus was a Proof-of-concept for a Genesis BASIC compiler and never released commercially and Captain Novalin wasn't really meant to be a widespread game, it was just for teaching kids about diabetes.

And there ARE terrible games today. I mean sure, there's nothing actually unplayable like there was in the NES days (looking at you, Action 52), but you can't say every piece of shovelware released to the Wii and DS and every tie-in to a movie was mediocre, much less good.

It doesn't just matter how much work goes into a game, or how nice it looks. If it's boring, broken or enragingly hard, it has failed at the point of a game. Which is something that you'd actually WANT to play. (Opinions differ depending on the game of course)

On the actual topic, I'd say Sonic Heroes really. It's mostly my fault for building it up for myself and I really loved Sonic Adventure 2. I haven't really had many other games that have disappointed me otherwise much.
