Inspiration Manifestation, Secret of my Excess, and im personally pretty fond of Just for Sidekicks and don't mind Equestria games.

Basically the more Rarity present in a Spike episode the higher the likelihood it'll be good.

Rarity tends to have that effect. She really has come a long way. She's been getting tons of development and awesome episodes lately. I mean, heck, we got 3 back to back Rarity episodes last season, and now with the Gift of Maud Pie and the other upcoming Rarity episode, she'll get even more.

'Tis a good time to be a Rarity fan. :D

Not looking forward to this one. Spike episodes end up going one of two ways: He's an incompetent screw-up who makes everyone miserable, or everyone around him suddenly becomes incompetent and useless for some contrived reason just to make him look good, which for me personally, is even worse than the former. If you want to make him look good, don't do it at the expense of characters who I actually care for.

That ending killed me xD

So is Rainbow Dash not there with Rarity and Twilight? It would make more sense if she was, since she was hiding in the costume with them in Dragon Quest. Oh well.

Technically speaking, now that Twilight is an Alicorn, they don't need Rainbow now since Twilight's wings can work for their disguise, and they might want to keep things on the down low with following Spike this time, so only Twilight and Rarity tail him this time.

Its about time for Spike to get some love and a ep to really show out the good points of his personality.   Also to see how this season might be good room for him to grow as a cannon such as we have seen with the other ponies.

I really hope Spike will get to sing in this episode! It's about time he had his own song!

Also perhaps the Dragon Lord title will give Spike the chance to have Dragons ally with Equestria. Last season we had griffons and yaks. Perhaps it's time to add dragons to the pack. You know, just in case something really powerful comes to Equestria later on!

I guess I'm the only one who likes Spike.

Most of us like him. The main issue is how the writers use him. There's just the feeling that there should be more to like about this character, but there isn't.

You know, after getting a good look at that blue female dragon that is hovering in front of the big guy and how confident she looks, I think she's probably the current Dragon Lord and the big guy is just her muscle to keep her subjects in line.

She's also the one I thought (and still think) Spike tries to befriend, and it makes sense if that's the case since the description on the FB page asks whether a Dragon Lord can make friends.

She probably doesn't want to become friends with anyone because she fears it will make her appear weak and undermine her authority. Or she might think it will make it seem like she would treat her friends differently compared to her other subjects.

So part of the plot will probably be Spike trying to explain to her that this is not the case and the princesses in Equestria can make friends and still be considered good rulers. It could show Spike is growing and learning from Twilight on how to be a good teacher himself. A nifty lesson indeed, if that is the case!

Kinda looks like a rehash of Dragon Quest to me; and while I liked that episode, I'm not really interested in seeing a similar plot-line again unless it results in something major (such as Spike gaining wings or something else unexpected)

I guess I'm the only one who likes Spike.

Spike's been my favorite character since the first 10 seconds I saw of the show (Bridle Gossip). At times, they're portrayed Spike poorly, other times he's portrayed fine. On another note, Just for Sidekicks and Spike at Your Service are immensely underrated in this fandom. Those are some of the best episodes of the series to me.

I'm...not sure what to think of this trailer, actually. I don't have very high expectations considering I never cared all that much for Spike episodes, but who knows. Maybe they've finally made a good one.

Definitely! Having the dragons on their side would easily make toast of anyone who dared to attack Equestria after that, especially Lord Tirek. He can drain the magic of ponies, but against dragon fire, he's pretty much burnt to a crisp.

I think fully grown Spike could have fought evenly against Tirek. Spike wouldn't have magic for Tirek to drain, and he could match him in physical strength.

Anyways, my guess for what happens: The other dragons will all have a "me first, screw everyone else" mentality that prizes their own success over the well being of anyone else. Additionally, there will be one other dragon who's a bit of an ace who will act as the favored frontrunner for the title of dragonlord. There will be a race through the volcano to get the scepter, with spike somehow managing to get into first place via dumb luck; He will stop to help other dragons who've ended up in a life threatening situation though, giving up his lead in the process and allowing the Favored frontrunner to win, with the frontrunner blatantly ignoring the other dragons and sneering at their situation as he goes.

Though the Frontrunner will have technically won all the other dragons will vouch for spike as being what a true dragonlord should be like (in that he thinks of the well being of all dragons and not just himself) and refuse to aknowledge the Winner as the dragonlord due to him Ignoring them. The older dragon will be forced to concede that there is more to being a Dragonlord than just brute strength since a Dragonlord that No one will follow is very blatantly NOT a leader, and will give spike the honor. However, spike will refuse the offer, admitting that he's too little to actually be an effective Dragonlord since he WAS only in first place due to dumb luck, and will pledge to return and take the role of dragonlord when he's older and grown into the role.
Hence Spike will get a new Goal in life to train and become strong enough to be worthy of taking the role of dragonlord when he's older, with episodes dedicated to that.

So, an average episode, nothing special.

He sure would now that I took some time to think about it.

Unlikeable Pony's suggestion actually sounds quite milestone-y to me.

I mean in quality. A predictable, but enjoyable episode.

On the bright side, tomorrow's episode (probably) won't be as bad as Princess Spike.

Interestingly, at least three of the dragons in the new episode know Spike personally from "Dragon Quest":

Since those three are there, I have to wonder if Garble is hanging around as well and we just haven't seen him yet?

I'm betting he'll show up as another competitor and act as a foil for spike in the episode.

I kinda hope not, though I wouldn't bet against it from happening as you describe.

What I'd like to see is Garble get a little bit redeemed. Until the phoenix egg raid went down, Garble actually gained a lot of respect for Spike after he belly-flopped into the lava. Alas, it didn't last. I'd like by the end of this episode he gains some respect for his diminutive partner again, maybe even start to understand what friendship really means.

Wow, am I a hopeless optimist or what?

The egg thing kind of made all of those dragons irredeemable for a kids show I mean they were trying to kill young animals that have cartoon levels of sentinence for fun and it seems they have done often before. And Garble had a very annoying personality to boot imo. So while it is nice to have those dragons back for continuity I hope other dragons are the focus and these 3 are just backround characters or have just couple of lines.

The 30-second preview of this one is better than in a "Dragon Quest" episode, I'm hoping sure that Spike will try to wield that Gauntlet of Fire in order to save and assist his mane six friends. :)

Princess Twilight Sparkle always do legendary stuff with magic in Equestria. Time to blast from the past.

So we're gonna blame ALL dragons for these three dragons' stupidity? I'm sure not all dragons would've done that egg thing. These are teenage dragons after all - the dumbest of all dragons.
