health The being healthy thread

So recently I started loving yoga because of how it's not as exhausting as 100 pushups 100 sit ups but it's still grueling and beneficial. Eating healthy is also great because when stuff has low calories, there's no excess to convert into fat. So yea this is the being healthy thread

Recently decided to quit certain foods to avoid irritating just whatever the heck is actually wrong with my stomach / digestive system.  Gonna stay away from spicy / fried / greasy foods whenever possible, quit soda, and choose blander, safer foods.  This gives me an excuse to make crock pot soup, though, so it ain't all bad.

Most forms of exercise are beyond my capacity, as the effects of multiple major surgeries have left much of my mobility limited- I try to compensate by eating fewer calories and walking my dog. I've lost considerable weight just doing that alone, though I have to take supplements to avoid things like scurvy since my limited diet doesn't have a whole lot of vitamins in it. :P

I do many things that are considered unhealthy, like sitting in a chair for 12 hours a day drinking soda and such. It'll catch up with me soon when my metabolism shuts down. I do some forms of Track and Field, so I got something.

My metabolism is super fast because I'm a teenager. Though it sucks because I want to eat so many things when I feel like it. There's no many snacks in our pantry and I crave them but I gotta start eating less so that I can lose weight.

not a lot of my forum friends know this but I'm a huge fitness nut!!!

There's just something about working out that makes one feel amazing. I'm somewhat addicted to that sore feeling one gets on their muscles the day after a workout....I don't really know why....but I consider it one of the best feelings in the world ^ ^

My obsession with exercise started in Highschool when I got inspired by the Disney movie Mulan, There was just something about the song "I'll make a man out of you" That really pumped me up .

I guess that sort of makes it for my "Being healthy" post.

I ride my bike 5-8 times around the block every morning and more later if I can. And that's saying something because there are some serious hills in my neighborhood.

I've been gone from this world for what seems like millennia, Looking for nothing short of a miracle, I only ever wanted to come home, Please won't you let me go? When I have nowhere left I can run away, Will you lie to me, tell me I'll be okay? Close my eyes and lay me in my tomb. Then pull the trigger and send me home.

I don't think you'd still like to if you knew the whole story, it's actually a lot more pathetic than you think,

While the Mulan song did inspire  me to work out , what kept me going was the fact that I was hated in grade school and early highschool for being the "weird" kid, and I thought that maybe if I kept exercising , if I kept going until I couldn't move my muscles...until I could see myself changing into someone I'm not...then maybe someday my classmates would accept me as one of them...;~; ...Super pathetic -_-....

I got a tough bodily consistency and a quick metabolism, so eating greasy junk, drinking lots of soda, loafing around doesn't tax me at all. I'm slightly underweight, but otherwise my body seems to be taking care of itself just fine.

What's more is that I'm almost 26 and this doesn't seem to be showing signs of changing anytime soon. When it does - i'll start caring.

Really? Because even as someone who has lightspeed metabolism, I thought that I could gains lot of weight by doing so.

Aside from all that, I still want to have that sort of connection with exercise as you.

Yeah, either that or i have dietery issues to go with that. But i asked around, my uncle is a doctor and he says that rapid metabolism slows down when you age, and indeed starts contributing to weight gain. My metabolism is fast, and I'm 25 - still somewhat skinny despite eating like a pig.

I try to make it a point to eat vegetables and have a balanced diet.

Ideally exercise would be nice too, but the SWEET, SWEET allure of TV and video games.

Mmhmm.... Delicious.

But yeah it's not easy balancing Work/study/friends/family/food and then exercise is like "here, have more responsibility" but now I just walk to University as a way to kinda balance, well it's good enough an excuse for me anyhow.

Oh how I long to start doing better about getting better in shape. I normally use the excuse of I am too busy with being a full time student in college and working full time as a restaurant manager to work out. So the past two semesters I have worked a P.E. class into my school schedule so I have no option but to get some sort of exercise. At the moment, I have been playing tennis and I have been working on getting out more outside of class now that I have found some sort of exercise that I thoroughly enjoy, I just normally don't have too much motivation when all of my friends are away at school and I haven't bothered to make new ones since starting college...that's a separate topic though....

I started doing IIFYM and I have to say it helped both in terms of bulking, cutting, and gaining strength. I'm currently trying to cut down to get a leaner body, so I could bulk up a bit to get a bit of extra size and then I would gain some strength. Sounds like a lot and IIFYM sounds frustrating but you get used to it after a while. It's a really good meal plan/ diet for training, exercise, or just maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

1. Avoid or moderate the bad food (you know what I mean) at all costs. Oh, and the bad drinks too. That includes alcohol.

2. Eat more fresh, more meat and more vegetables.

3. Have a "meat-free" day: it's good for the environment!

4: Do cardio (HIIT) and lift weights.

5: Profit.

And do it often and regulary - keep a schedule. It's not rocket science to be healthy.

I need to lose like 20-30 pounds as I am considered overweight and want to be a healthy weight again. I have lost like seven pounds in the past couple of weeks after my wisdom teeth surgery, eating too much hurts >.> I suppose that is one good thing about the recovery period, I'm forced to diet.

I'm trying to eat more plant-based foods. I'm debating becoming a vegetarian (I don't eat a lot of meat as it is) and I think I'm borderline lactose intolerant so I'm avoiding dairy now too.

Smoothies are great :P

I am on the path to a healthier life style. While I am not overweight or anything, I know when I join the military I will need to be in shape, so I am making the process to convert some of my lesser habits. I am starting to eat  healthier, cutting red meats out of my system to the point where it become a "once in a while" thing. Soda is done (I quit soda before for like 3 years), beef becomes chicken, ground beef becomes ground turkey, ham on sandwiches becomes smoked turkey, And exercise daily now becomes a thing.

It's going to be grueling at first, I know.

I have problems committing to exercise, I do try to walk around more but I like staying indoors too much and also I hate the feeling of my fat moving around if I chose to jog.  I always feel like someone is watching me when I exercise at home so I quit because it was uncomfortable.  I really do want to begin exercising again and try to at least lose 5 pounds.

Okay so I eat healthy, try lifting, push ups all that good stuff. I try going for walks everyday and occasionally cycle so yeah things are happening. Though I also try eating little fast food and just overall not overeating.

Nice past me! It definitely was worth keeping it up. So I try to focus a lot on cardio you know.

@EpicEnergy You really should shough it's fun and rewarding.
