I personally like Vinyl and Octavia the best, but we're only judging these ponies on appearances, really. Most of them never make a sound. Not much to judge them by. I still adore their designs, though ^_^

Ha! First vote is for Octavia! Although I know Derpy and Vinyl Scratch will end up taking first and second place, it seems they're everypony's favourites. I chose Octavia because I love her design.

Mine is colgate, the time lord who wants to just be a dentist. She is just so adorable looking all the time. I wish they gave her a voice for one scene at least, dat's all I want.

If she counts...I love Blossomforth. There's something about her color scheme that I enjoy. She's just so adorable to me. >3<  Plus, I like her cutie mark.

My favorite is Raindrops.  I really like her color scheme!  (To be honest, you can't go wrong with me if there's yellow in the color scheme).

My favorite has no name, but I CALL her Sunflower Drops.She is a pony who is weary and not at all the type to truly be in the places she is. She's cute in everyway. She was forced to become a wonder bolt due to her town and she would prefer it just to make the ponies happy.

Cutie mark:

She studies the land and desires the most for land and ponies to love each other, for ponies to respect the environment. Sunflower and its rays resemble such.

That list of ones not to say literally took away all my favorite background ponies except for two: Rose Luck (I don't know why, but she's just one of my favorites) and Seafoam

Wasn't she one of the bridesmaids in A Canterlot Wedding? If so they gave her a voice, just like they did with Lyra. I was like OMG LYRA CAN TALK!!

I LOVE DOCTOR WHOOVES!! I mean seriously a time lord in Equestria, don't know if that's canon in the show but they should totally make an episode about him in Season 4.

Colgate gets a held second which barely counts in my book. But she does have a voice I guess.

Cloudchaser is my favorite background pony out of the bunch. Her mane looks so cool and her body is a cute color. I love her voice too, I find that it fits her well. In all, she is a very cute and cool pony. :wub:

 

Also, I forgot to mention. She has two cutie marks. A shooting star and a cloud and sun. That's how awesome she is. B)

I like a few of what some fans consider the "male 6" for whatever reason: Pokey Pierce, Comet Tail, Thunderlane and Noteworthy/Blues. The other two were Soarin' (I like him but I don't consider him a "background pony", but a secondary character) and Caramel (don't like him as much, he's alright I guess). I also like Cloudchaser and Flitter, Roid Rage/Snowflake, and Sea Swirl/Seafoam. And Colgate. Yeah, that's probably too many (and there's probably more....)

Anyway, never heard of Holly Dash. I like her design.

The fans actually called her Colgate because her mane and tail supposedly look like toothpaste. As you've already been told, it wasn't allowed for legal reasons. Hasbro probably decided on "Minuette" because it sounds like "Minute" and her cutie mark is an hourglass. Edited by Orangejack

I really like this background pony "Star Hunter". I mostly like his colours and his cutie mark, Orion is my favourite constellation. There's another background pony with the same mark just called "Orion" but I prefer this pony

Derpy Hooves win, without a doubt. She's crazy, mysterious, and lazy eyed. If not for her, the fandom wouldn't have anypony to root for (Other than the mane six). She's the one who started the background character thing.

Not only does she have one of my favorite animals, dolphins, as her cutie mark, they are patterned in a yin yang to remind us of balance and harmony. Since she is a unicorn I'm sure her magic relates to the sea in some way, but I am not quite sure how since she lives in Ponyville. I always look for her in every episode and LOVED her costume for Nightmare Night.

 

So I wanted to know what background ponies everyone else likes. There are the obvious ones like Derpy, Dr Hooves, and Lyra but I wanted to see who else someone has spotted and enjoyed.

Definitely Fiddlesticks for many reasons. One is I was raised in a southern home, and though I listen to mostly metal, I really loved Charlie Daniels. I grew up on "The Devil Went Down To Georgia". And granted that's not his only song I enjoy a lot of his other songs as well, often including a fiddle. But I had really liked the design of Octavia and seeing that "countrified" was pretty cool. Also I have a theory that all ponies have a low magical field around their front hooves which assists in picking up things, and Fiddles helps with that particular headcanon.

For me its Octavia. I love Classical music and she practically represents Classical, at least in the fan side. She has an elegant character design as well.

I really like the fancy and more classical feel of Tavi, but Vinyl Scratch is much more relatable to me, so....

Vinyl Scratch (Filly), what is it about Berry Punch that draws you to her?

 

Scootalove, while I wouldn't call her my favorite she had one of the best moments ever in Mare Do Well!!!

 

Sandman the Terrible, never really noticed her before. I actually saw Charlie Daniels live once. While I'm not into country anymore that lives as one heck of a great show!!!

 

ReGen, I totally get it. Music is magic and those two represent a pretty broad sepctrum.
