Truffles 2,033 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 (edited) Oh, silly Flim & Flam, don't kid yourselves - of COURSE Applejack has told lies before! XD And Impossibly Rich Fluttershy is the best disguise the show has ever given us! This is Flim and Flam's best outing yet, which isn't saying much. But at least they were enjoyable to watch for a change. Edited September 17, 2016 by Truffles Are you a Spike fan? cmarston1 5,959 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 I never really had a lot of expectations for this episode, outside of finding it cool to see an underused pairing such as Fluttershy and Applejack finally get used again. I also was happy to see Las Pegasus appear in the show as I am always a fan of seeing new locations appear. Outside of that, I feel like the episode was okay. Fluttershy and Applejack have a nice dynamic, Las Pegasus looks like a cool new location, While Gladmane being a villain was kind of predictable, seeing how both Applejack and Fluttershy approached the multiple different friendship problems going in the episode was kind of nice to see. Especially seeing Fluttershy act smug towards Applejack was pretty nice. She really has had a good showing this season, even if she hasn't had a lot of screentime. Gladmane seeing through the disguise being part of the plan was quite clever. I also liked how Flim and Flim didn't reform at the end.

Sketchy Tail 206 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 Very darn good episode indeed! I'll have to send Holly to Las Pegasus! She'd love all the fun activities! I also liked all the interesting background ponies and how unique they all looked. I'll have to watch it again to find any other interesting ponies.
Eggy0 103 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 (edited) Pretty good episode, I personally give it a 10/10. My favorite part in the entire episode was the whole "tricking Gladmane" scheme. I really liked the subversion where Gladmane turns out to be smart enough to notice Impossibly Rich was actually Fluttershy in disguise (that one caught me off guard!), as well as the double subversion where the whole thing, including Gladmane foiling their trick, was their plan all along. I'm also kinda glad the episode didn't redeem Flim and Flam. Reformations are a bit stale, so this is a nice refreshing element. EDIT: Also, as soon as I saw Gladmane, his haircut reminded me of Donald Trump (whereas everyone else in the chat mentioned Elvis whom I've never heard of before). I guess I called it since I'm seeing people comparing him to Trump now Edited September 17, 2016 by Eggy0
PoisonClaw 8,164 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 That was an excellent episode. We got to visit a brand new location (finally!), got introduced to a cavalcade of new characters (including a pair of Siegfried and Roy ponies), and to top it all off both Applejack and Fluttershy shined in the City That Never Sleeps. Come to think of it, Applejack and Fluttershy are two of the Mane 6 who don't interact very much outside of the group, kinda like Rainbow and Rarity. 2 MLPForums "Self-Proclaimed" Kamen Rider NutNow, count up your sins!I do Traditional commissions, by the way! Sidral Mundet 1,666 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 Awesome sauce! What I liked: Applejack Fluttershy duo: Unlike in Bats! these two play off of one another pretty well. Applejack is stubborn with the Flim Flam Bros. yes but like Fluttershy says it helps leads to the problem. Each of them doesn't outshine the other which is nice especially in a map episode Flim Flam Bros.: That ending Priceless. But outside that it was nice to see them working for a common cause without becoming "reformed". Also that line about Flim's "Flare" not being what it used to be was funny Using the monologuing against the villain: Nice subversion with caught monologue confession. Sure not the most original and they still got the confession but it was nice to see it not work out as we expected. Las Pegasus: Cool design though I wish we got to see more of it. What I didn't like: The Stream: It cut out half way ARGH! The statue: Why did it need to come down? Guy wasn't Hussein and he probably still owns the business unless he sold it off screen. What was meh: Gladmane: He's the standard "Hinding his true intentions behind flattery" kind of villain. Nothing new about him or anything like that. So this was a really good map episode, the best IMO so far. 1 Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.

BlackWater627 700 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 I really liked this episode! It was fun and I usually don't like Flim Flam episodes. This one is their best in my opinion. Also, the double trickery at the end! I did not read that one. Bravo! Call me crazy, but I felt like Gladmane was more like the Pony version of Donald Trump, with a mix of Elvis Presley. Was it the casino or the subversion? I can't tell. Also, look at how detailed these sets are! This episode must have taken forever to animate, to say nothing of the countless unique background ponies popping up. Indeed, I thought it was very impressive. They've really put so much more into each episode compared to ol' season 1. Kindness is just a few words away. I will call you crazy, he was just a Vegas Elvis parody nothing more. The show wouldn't dignify Trump with any kind of appearance in it, zeitgeist be damned. "You'll hunt me. Sonic5421 423 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 (edited) The second of this season's Cutie Map missions, and we are taken to the Equestria version of Las Vegas. We get to see Gladmane, a basic Elvis impersonator, and the Flim Flam Brothers again. Also, I may be wrong, but I believe I've seen Flim and Flam argue and disown each other once before in one of the Friends Forever comics when discussing their problems with Granny Smith over a mare they both loved. Still, as it turns out, Gladmane is a corrupt businessman, trying to secure all of Las Pegasus under his control, while maintaining a false cover of being one who shares friendship wholeheartedly with his guests and employees. He spreads lies and misinformation among his workers, causing them to think it was true because they trusted him, driving rifts into their friendships with each other. Had Applejack not learned of this by speaking individually to the workers and Fluttershy to the animals of the acts, they never would have found out about Gladmane's deception, and Applejack is able to put her own past with the Flim Flam Brothers behind her to get them to reconcile, since they remember that as the Element of Honesty, she can never lie, so what she says is the truth, and realizing Gladmane outsmarted them, they tried to outsmart him, but he was on to their ruse, but that was to lure him into a false sense of security, so when Applejack and Fluttershy confronted him in his office, they are able to master a public confession out of him through the P.A. system and, as a result, the acts, furious that Gladmane tricked them, resign and leave, pretty much putting him out of business and into bankruptcy, allowing Flim and Flam to take over, but if you thought they had finally overcome their own con-artist ways, think again. In the end, they were back to their old tricks again, much to Applejack's frustration and chagrin. Great episode, and I give it a 10/10! VIVA LAS PEGASUS!!! Zantetsuken 364 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 Viva Las Vegas Pegasus Written By Kevin Burke & Chris Wyatt Well I guess I have to give credit to the writer's for having a plot like this that did feel rushed to end when I thought it would be incredibly rushed. I'm not sure what to say about this episode honestly I mean I guess it's okay... There wasn't anything really wrong with it that I can see. I guess it was cool that Flim and Flam returned although I'm just kinda meh on them. Everybody seems to be comparing Gladmane to Donald Trump but It's obvious hes more of a play on Elvis they even say "Gladmane has left the building" after they 'beat' him. I would have preferred a Frank Sinatra'ish pony or some reference to the rat pack but I guess not as many people would get that. I liked it but it just seemed a bit bland for me to say too much. But OMG the visuals in this episode were pure overload, so much on the screen at once, I have to say the animators really earned their wages here. 7.2/
Batbrony 16,043 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 Hello everypony, I see you! OK, good morning everypony and welcome back to another edition of "Batbrony Reviews"! This should be a fairly short review today, but that doesn't mean there wasn't a lot to like here. Without further ado, let's get going, this is "Viva Las Pegasus"!!! First and foremost, I would describe this episode as an exceptional experience episode. It didn't have a particularly deep message, if any at all, BUT it was just a whole lot of fun, and in that regard it excelled. I've been wanting to see Las Pegasus in the show for a long time (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) and boy oh boy the animators did not disappoint here. The sights were a blast and exactly what a Las Vegas-ponified locale should look like, and there was a lot of fun to be had this whole episode. I adored the side characters we got, from the adorable acrobat pony and her director to the hilariously obvious Siegried and Roy parody! The backgrounds looked great the whole episode and the LOADS of background ponies were a lot of fun as well. Smugshy is so, so smug Flim and Flam also had exactly the type of episode you'd want them to have. It was nice getting to see them in the role of hesitant heroes (for once), but at the same time I very much appreciated that they did not get reformed. It just wouldn't seem true to their natures to do so, and besides, they're not really evil anyway; I'm pretty sure this episode solidified their status as true neutral characters. They're always out to improve their own fortunes, and that's exactly what they were doing here, it just so happened that this time they actually helped other ponies for a change as well. Besides, at least now they're just ripping ponies off at a tourist destination, it's not like they're claiming to cure diseases or trying to run the Apples out of business now. So yeah, fun episode for them, and I'm happy they didn't get reformed; Equestria's not a perfect place, after all, and it's nice to see that some "scoundrels," especially hilariously over-the-top ones like those two, never change. Plus their revenge on Gladmane was actually quite satisfying to see unfold. Applejack and Fluttershy also got the combo episode those two always deserved. When "Bats!" first aired, I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the results because the entire time, Fluttershy was portrayed as always being in the right, and AJ always being in the wrong. It just wasn't very well executed and didn't live up to what those two as a pair could be. THIS episode, on the other hand, completely did! From the start they complemented each other nicely, and they continued to do so even after they had disagreements. They both weren't comfortable in a locale like Las Pegasus, they both helped solve the problem when they went their separate ways, and they supported each other with their own strengths from start to finish in identifying the friendship problem and solving it. Suffice to say, this episode has more than made up for the disappointment that "Bats!" was. Applejack: she just found your magazines, you know, THOSE ones Overall, like I said before, the episode was an experience first and foremost (a fun one at that), and in that capacity it excelled. It felt actually very much like a Scooby Doo episode; solving the problem was more important than any lesson learned, and even the resolution wasn't that important compared to the viewing experience itself. The episode was about giving the viewer a fun time above all else, and with that being the case I must say it passed with flying colors. That's all I've got for this week everypony, until next time this is Batbrony signing off. I'm off!!! *cue dramatic exit* You may be happy, but you will never be as happy as a pegasus covered in pink prairie dogs 8 "You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Truffles 2,033 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 I'm trying to decide what is going on in this scene here: Is this some incognito starlet being nice to one of her adoring fans? Or... Is it some meth-addicted prostitute pony attempting to score her latest trick by wooing a tourist so she can pay her dealer for another hit? What happens in Las Pegasus stays in Las Pegasus... Cleverclover 1,526 September 17, 2016 Share September 17, 2016 This was probably one of the best map episodes to date. At the very least, it most certainly kicks the crap out of Spice Up Your Life, which not only portrayed Rarity terribly, but also made it so that Pinkie was only really there to clean up the mess she made. And after Fluttershy was brutally shafted by Twilight in The Hooffields and McColts, I'm really glad she finally got a chance to feature prominently in a friendship mission episode. I just really hope that Dash does not suffer from having the misfortune of being paired with Twilight, because Heaven knows she really needs another good appearance this season. There are some things about the plot that didn't really make sense to me. It seems to me that keeping the performers at odds with each other could have backfired on Gladmane easily. What if they flat out refused to perform at all? Also, why would that be the only thing keeping them from leaving Gladmane's? Applejack's skepticism over Flim and Flam was well within reason, and I'm really glad that she allowed herself to move past it when she needed to. And best of all, Flim and Flam were NOT reformed at the end! Thank heavens for that! Ultimately, I think this episode mostly excelled in how well it portrayed both Applejack and Fluttershy and how they were both important to the mission, unlike Spice Up Your Life, which, again, only needed Pinkie, and The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, which shoved Rainbow Dash into a pointless B-plot. However, plotwise, this episode was lacking a bit.
