Which of Starlight Glimmer's Mane Style do you prefer?

Comparing what she had from S5 to S6, which one do you think looked better? Also, does anyone know why it was changed?

New one of course, the old one looked old and evil and it what she would've looked like before 2016 but with the new one, it felt like the show was going in a new direction with Starlight becoming a main character and in some possibility, being part of the Mane 7 and series protagonist. That mane style also had me become a fan of her, not to mention her backstory in the show.

The old one is the best, I like she got her old mane back in Hearth's Warming Tail (I know it is her persona in the story but still...), it reminds how awesome she is as a villain, seeing her new mane style made me sad sometimes...

I agree, post-redemption SG's hair is far too similar to Rarity's. The very first thought I had on seeing the new mane style was "that looks far too much like Rarity's". True story.

She took over a new leaf and changed her mane as a signification of her new self as a reformed character. Her new one in my opinion is a bit overly fabulous but I can see were she wants to be likable/cute not only to gain new friends in the show but to the make viewers like her too.

It was changed to suggest that she's changed. It's called an Expository Hairstyle Change.

Definitely the new one. It is far more stylish and I think it goes well with her personality change. Anytime I see the old one in any image, I immediately think of evil Starlight and I absolutely hate evil Starlight. I prefer the not as overpowered and actually justified Starlight.

I dig that they changed it. Ponies don't usually change manestyle permanently. Good for Starlight she was the first one.

Makes no real difference to me, but if I had to choose I suppose the newer hairstyle is the more appealing of the two.

The old one, this new one is alright but it looks a lot like Rarity's. The old one also reminds me of how awesome she was as a villain, although she's a great protagonist as well.

I like the new mane better. From a design standpoint, it's just more interesting, and it also shows character progression. She changed it because it expresses her newfound sense of identity. She no longer holds onto this ideology that every pony has to be the same to be equal, and instead wants to just be herself.  

The old mane was effective in Season 5 because it was deliberately bland, generic and shared between the other mares in her village, which conforms with her rejection of individuality. She's come a long way, so even if people prefer to see her hair split into bangs again, there's no reason for her to do that anymore. In fact, reverting to the old mane would likely make her uncomfortable.

I preferred her old one. While I like the idea of the change to show character progression, the new one just looks weird and too silly for me.

I've gotten used to her current one although when I watched the season six premiere for the first time when it first aired, I didn't even notice it until someone brought it up. I think her manestyle was changed to reflect her change in personality.

She looks nicer now, it reflects her new personality. She's more of an outgoing pony now and so she has a more outgoing mane style.
