What if the movie focused on the alternate timelines from the season 6 finale?

So this is entirely theoretical, but I was thinking that the timelines in the season 6 finale honestly all had tons of potential behind them. I feel like they all have room for complex, interesting stories of their own (I guess fanfic writers agree with me though xD). They had enough material for a season finale each, I almost feel, at least as far as the Nightmare Moon, Changeling, and the most famous, the Crystal War timelines go.

So what if the movie focused on exploring these concepts whether than telling a connected story? Imagine it being split into 3 segments, each focusing on telling the isolated story of it's alternate timeline. No actual connections between them like in the S6 finale.

Of course this won't happen, and I doubt y'all would like this idea as it'd really be a series of TV specials rather than a movie, but I wanted this out there, Honestly, I find the AUs so intriguing I would like this >_>

This isn't pretty but it's what I am tonight.

Honestly, ever since I've seen that episode, I've always mentioned that I wished these alternate timelines were better explored.  I'm not entirely sure how they would do so, but it was definitely something that would have been interesting.  If it were in the movie or was the focus of it in some form of way, I absolutely wouldn't mind it.  Would it work? I'm not sure but I know that I would love the timelines worked in and better explored in some way.  Sadly, the chances of that happening is fairly slim to nonexistent, I'd guess.

Given how time constraints meant that they couldn't focus too much time on each of the timelines in the season five finale, it would be difficult to come up with interesting storylines for the ones near the end that were only given roughly five seconds of coverage. Sombra's timeline has the most time dedicated to it and it was fleshed out quite a bit thanks to Applejack. If they were to use the timelines for the movie, this is the one that stands the best chance of being featured.

You know what that means, right? War Dash. But, chances are the movie will be about something else, like the seaponies.

Since those timelines never happened due to the sonic rainboom happening as intended, they will merely be regulated to the status of alternate realities.

Nice to see I'm not alone in the "setting the timeline back on track turned the alternate timelines into alternate dimensions" thought.

That is what they've essentially become. They do exist but not in the traditional means but rather down different paths of the river that is called time. Can they accessed again or are they lost forever? I don't have an answer and I'm certain the writers don't have one either.

Well, it's not like they can explore them again without bumping up the rating.

The rating wouldn't be an issue since they were pretty tame compared to other programs that did something similar. They would need to have a pretty good reason to revisit those alternate timelines again other than just because.

True. maybe the Sombra of that reality decides to invade Equestria Prime.

That would require powerful magic, a good explanation of the time paradox difficulty, and an incredibly well-written story to tie it all together.

Exactly. Hasbro needs guys that can plan things out.

And it's not just the Sombra timeline that was given a lot of detail. Chrysalis' timeline and Nightmare Moon's timeline were given a decent amount of coverage though not to the same extent that Sombra received.

True. It would be nice to see more of Night Guard Rainbow Dash.

I'm sorry, but every time the show or comics focuses on alternate timelines/realities/universes, it always ends up being a gigantic disappointment and/or terrible

I think everyone is aware of that. My point is exploring said "alternate dimensions." There isn't a huge difference between alternate dimensions and alternate timelines unless we want to get very technical.

True. Of course, they might have to travel to the Nightmare Moon Empire dimension. Heaven knows how bloody the Sombra War dimension would be.

The movie should be used to carry the story forward and not focus on "what could have been" scenario that would be difficult to explain to new viewers to boot. The movie can create its own scenario that is just as interesting as those alternate realities and is actually new.

True. And besides, this is the first time since Generation 1 that seaponies appear on screen.
