Spike has obviously been Twiley's number one assisstant for a long time, but with her ascension and coronation, is he her royal advisor now too?

Don't listen to them, ggg-2! He's alot more than that! Just wait till he becomes Equestria's ambassador! :D For the time being, he's Twilight's EVERYTHING. Royal advisor, cleaner, assistant... and it pays quite handsomely! ;)

I think his position didn't change much, no matter what the title is. He has a truly unique role - he still is Twilight's Spike. I can't find better words to sum it up.

He's essentially a dignitary to the Crystal Empire and besides that, he's a notable figure to if not all of Equestria too. He's moving up in the world and it's only time before his role as Twilight's assistant outgrows him.

Pet / Servant / "Family" / Friend depending on your interpretation.

I see him as her pet.

That's completely nonsensical, and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply out of their mind, to put it lightly. Spike is a sapient dragon who is equal to the ponies, and it's quite clear in the series that, while he's her number one assistant, by choice mind you, he's also most definitely like a little brother to her (she also raised him from an egg, mind you, so she could be considered his parent too, dunno, not sure which way fits better, maybe I'll think about it more later). So yeah, either way, they ARE in fact family, period.

So in reality, it's a brother-sister sort of relationship.

I agree. They're like brother and sister.

Yeah. I also edited my post to say that you could also see her as his parent, considering she raised him, but I dunno which fits better honestly, and Twilight was also a foal when she hatched him. Oh well, either way the main point to get across is that they are clearly family, and that they're clearly equals and all.

Actually the only thing that has really changed is he is pretty much the dragon ambassador to equestria now that he knows Ember.

That and he is a big shot in the crystal empire.

I still see Spike as Twilight's assistant since he does handle certain that Twilight can't really do on her own, such as taking down vital messages. He's also there to provide support when she needs it and to act as the straight man whenever she loses her cool over something. Spike also serves a special role with regards to the Crystal Empire in that he is their national hero.

Twilight Sparkle does not have royal authority over spike - as he is not a pony.

You will often see him not bow to Celestia while everyone else does for this reason.

What? No, that's just ridiculous. Not being a pony is completely irrelevant, Spike is just as much a citizen of Equestria as the other characters, and is thus also in fact a subject of Celestia and the others. Also, I doubt Celestia really cares too much about stuff like the bowing. She and the other rules are very benevolent, and she seems pretty approachable and all, if that's a good way to put it.
