I dunno if I can see Discord and Thorax sticking around. I do see Maud joining her as a step into giving her her own mane 6. I can see Lightning Dust and Coco Pommel being part of Starlight's own Mane 6

Yeah, I know Discord and Thorax joined Starlight's team, but they were mostly doing that because they had friends trapped inside the hive. Discord is more of Fluttershy's friend than Starlight's, and Thorax is more of Spike's friend than Starlight. Lightning Dust seems like a probable candidate! But now we need one more earth pony and another pegasus.

I can agree with basically everyone Starlights befriended as a core cast for her.... expect Discord, I actually really really love Discord but he's just too damn broken to be a more than occasional character unless he's CONSTANTLY made impotent. It's fine once in a while like the S6 finale but it would get silly if it just happened all the time

I'm not sure if the writers would ever want to do something like this. I seriously can't imagine another finale similar to "To Where and Back Again" with the same characters from there.

Since she seems to building friendships with people connected with other characters ... I'll take that approach ... a character connected to each of the Mane Six by friendship, family, or conflict

Pinkie Pie -> Maud Pie

Rainbow Dash -> Lightning Dust

Rarity -> Suri (Coco would work too).

Fluttershy -> Discord

Applejack -> Big Mac and Sugar Belle (yes I went there). I would like to see a platonic friendship between a stallion and mare, and it looks like the two will be an item.

This would actually be quite interesting. I mean, we already got Mane 6, the Pillars and student 6 so why not? Starlight has already got a big role in MLP and it’s hinted that she‘ll become an Alicorn (not sure if I‘ll like it, but let’s wait and see).
