Windows/Mac virtual pony assistant

I am hoping to gather together a team of programmers, graphic artists/designers, animators, voice actors and writers to bring together a long awaited project. 

For years now, this fandom has gone without something important, something that would bring motivation to us creatives, companionship to those of us who are lonely.  I'm talking about a virtual pony assistant of course. 

Just think of all the content in the fandom and the amount of us actually using computers in our day to day lives, as well as the lonely ones out there who just want to connect with the ponies they love or anypony in general be it OC, fanmade or otherwise. 

Since day one I myself have been looking for something like this, surprisingly there are not many pony apps out there that are that well made or appealing, not blaming the creators at all, they made what they wanted to make not what other people have been wanting or asking for. 

This needs to be done. 

In saying it needs to be done, i'm not demanding anyone do it, I'm simply saying it has to be done as in it needs to eventually happen as it would be incredible and something of value, well sought after by many in the fandom. 

Imagine you had a bad day at work, or are simply stuck on an idea, or just need help with research. Imagine you could just simply say "hello princess, do you think you can brighten my day?" and have Twilight herself reply with a soothing "of course I can, well I can at least try, should I play your favorite song, or we could play a game?"

Imagine being able to compliment anypony of your choosing, pet their mane with a click of your mouse, boop them on the snout, or have them lay there in all of their animated beauty, maybe even on a pillow or cushion looking all cute and adorable.

 

If anyone is willing to contribute their time to such a project, if you have the skills, please message me and we'll get to building this team.

I am no leader, so I will need all the help I can get planning this venture. I look forward to working with all who wish to contribute.

There are ways around copyright if it is not for profit, and as for the pony itself, puppets!

Puppets can be easily edited/animated, allowing for custom OC's to be implemented. 

Good things take time. It will be worth it in the end.

Need more people on board for this project. We so far have a talented  programmer, the man himself behind Fillydelphia radio and we need artists, animators, concept designers, etc...

It is not clear what exactly do you have in mind. If you're serious about it, you should write a design document, listing all the features and how they're supposed to work. Imagine yourself using it step by step. Draw fake screenshots of it, or comic sketches of specific use cases of the assistant.

To illustrate what I mean, an example breakdown of one feature could be: The assistant shall detect the user's face using the webcam and greet them. If an unknown face is detected, the assistant shall lock the screen. There shall be a control panel for the assistant where, among other things, known faces can be specified. Adding a new known face will require a picture of the user be taken using the webcam, similar to how Skype lets you take a picture of yourself to use as an avatar. The assistant shall greet known faces at most once per day each and use a greeting appropriate for the time of the day. If any unknown and no known faces are seen in the webcam, the assistant shall lock the screen. Particularly, if at least one known face is seen, the screen shall not be locked - this is a situation when the owner is showing their screen to somebody else, so we don't want to lock them out! Risks associated with this feature: need to find a working face detection algorithm, it could be too inaccurate to be useful (e.g. people with glasses), it could require too much performance from the computer, there are privacy risks associated with filming the user, the assistant could be fooled with a photograph of a known face, and how many people have webcams anyway?

And so on for every little thing you want the assistant to be able to do. Expect it to be a hundred plus page document. From it you will be able, with the help of a programmer, start to estimate what will it take to implement it, and which features you should focus on first, and what can be left for later or dropped entirely, and help you define the so called minimum viable product.
