Unity 332 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 Soooo I was wondering if the ponies are considered naked since they don' wear clothes, but can wear clothes. I think clothes for them would be the equivalent of somebody here dressing up for a special occasion. Not sure if it' like IRL where a horse can just whip it out. Also, why was Fluttershy embarrassed when rainbowdash ripped off her blankets if they aren' really naked in the way we think of it.
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 42,202 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 For Flutters, that was definitely a gag. Since she is super ultra shy, she is probably embarrassed by...near anything depending on the circumstances. Nakedness doesn't seem to be a concept for the pones as being naked is the norm. Norm naked. Basically, that is how humans should be instead of demonizing their own body. 4 Redeem me into childhood. Show me myself without a shell. GrimGrimoire 4,973 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 Yes they are naked. But it is a kid's show, you were not supposed to think that hard about the characters in that regard. Lots of kids cartoons have followed this pattern with no one really wondering about it too deeply. 1 ~No profound statement needed~
The_Gobo 36,257 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 Rarity did the same thing at the Gala. Evidently this has been a point of discussion since S1. And years later... no one knows :V

Nye 1,652 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 I think it depends, ponies seem to freak out when their clothes are ripped off if they were wearing them, or if they normally wear clothes and are not seen with them off. 1 ~ Team Manehatten Ask me a question here! Yeah, always wondered the most about that part. Could somebody answer one more question. If they don't always wear clothes, and aren't required to, than what are clothes the equivalent too for us
Nye 1,652 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 Your own question put it in a good perspective, as though it is simply like dressing up for an occasion. Those who dress up all the time simply are accustomed to wearing it. Just as us humans are comfortable with clothing, but easily could be comfortable without it if taught different social norms. It’s all subjective in truth. ~ Team Manehatten Ask me a question here!

SolarFlare13 16,113 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 (edited) You know, that is a question that I've been getting A LOT lately Well...technically speaking, they ARE naked...but it's completely natural for them They are horses after all, NOT humans A LOT of bronies have been looking at this the wrong way and that’s when they start making R34 content / perverted images ... (Although, it‘d be kinda weird to see Maud or Tempest WITHOUT any clothes. I'm just saying Maybe it's because I'm just so used to seeing them wear clothes all the time X3) Equestria is a clothing-optional society (there’s NO law that you HAVE to wear clothes) and I like how they’ve gone about that (like, they don’t judge you wheter you’re wearing anything or not). You have the freedom of choosing Just take a look at the Season 1 finale (A.K.A the Best Night Ever). There’s a scene where the Mane 6 are getting dressed for the Gala and Rarity feels uncomfortable letting spike in (this is an obvious adult / sexual joke btw :P). Applejack lets Rarity know that “Ponies Don’t Normally Wear Clothes”... …and in the Season 7 premiere (A.K.A Celestial Advice), Spike asks Starlight what’s she’s gonna be wearing to the Medal Awarding ceremony and she says: "Not sure. Why? Am I supposed to dress up?" Y'see??? It's entirely up to the individual. They don't have to wear clothes if they don't want to. The only thing they gotta worry about is the style of their mane …and I noticed that the ONLY time they wear clothes is on special occasions (such as parties or weddings) "Also, why was Fluttershy embarrassed when rainbow dash ripped off her blankets if they aren't really naked in the way we think of it." That is an obvious adult / sexual joke Rarity did the same thing in "Make New Friends But Keep Discord" Edited March 7, 2018 by SolarFlare13 3 This signature has been created by the almighty KYOSHI :
Toastypk 927 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 Ponies don't seem to have a problem with no clothes, that's their default, and clothes seem to just be for extra. Though Sunburst for sure has a problem with it, it seems! Maybe some ponies have a thing about it.

cuteycindyhoney 13,336 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 For ponies, clothing seems more like a statement thing, than a modesty thing. Clothing styles are more like hairstyles for humans. Look at Rarity. She dresses to the nines when the situation calls for it, but goes about Ponyville in just her personal coat on normal days. Thank you Sparklefan1234!!! Rhythm Red 6,485 March 7, 2018 Share March 7, 2018 Like everypony else said, clothes are really just meant for special occasions. No clothes seems to be the norm in pony society. Narcissus 356 March 8, 2018 Share March 8, 2018 Their natural coats are their clothes, and anything they wear with that is an accessory. Some humans might be shocked at the sudden removal of certain accessories, but that doesn't mean it's the same as nakedness.
Pony Flutters 537 March 8, 2018 Share March 8, 2018 Applejack did once say that they normally "don't wear clothes" so that seems to be the norm there, besides accessories and the occasional dressing up for fancy occasions or for the fun of it. I'm sure Fluttershy covering herself that one time might just be out of shock, since she just woke up instantly due to Rainbow Dash barging in. Her fur and mane could've also been messy due to sleeping on it, and she's embarrassed of anyone else seeing it that way. Then again, it was probably just a nude joke they wanted to slip in.
Im_not_crazy_im_just 1,815 April 18, 2018 Share April 18, 2018 They aren’t concidered naked because of their fur. The only reason those jokes are in is to make some of the adult audiences get a little laugh 1 I found this on deviant art and its cool Derpy For President 2020
Berry-Bliss-Sundae 1,293 April 19, 2018 Share April 19, 2018 I consider that the ponies do not have prejudices for wearing or not clothing, it is a choice ... and with respect to scenes like fluttershy I suppose it is nothing more than a joke for the adult viewers who also see the series .... or the pony universe is simple like spongebob, I mean, they have fire ... under the sea
