I thought you were going to go to someone's house and rip one of their muscles!  Don't mind me, I'm sometimes slow-witted...  I think I'd like to have some nice pectorals, no reason.

Am I allowed to say everything? I'm not at all athletic, and I'm probably more flab than muscle in some areas

Nah, at most I'd want some pects and abs. I'm happy with my relatively athletic limbs otherwise

Ok. Check out the channel: Brandon Meyers. that guys gives you a bunch of good ab excercises like scissors, 6 inch hold, butterflies, etc.

I don't really want to be ripped per se. However I think that I probably should lose a couple of pounds.

I'm 15 years old. Height is 5'11" and weight is 165 pounds, so I'll let you be the judge of that.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Nah. Your good! If you do a little jogging and pushups once in a while, you'll be fine! :smug:

I'm focusing on cardio and swimming to shed some weight because I want to get into great shape. I remember watching some YouTube videos of Tom Platz, "The Quadfather," and he was absolutely amazing! I doubt I'll ever reach his level, but I'd love to build some impressive leg muscles like that. His motivational speeches are great too!

Yo, Starlight. Cardio may work, but I dropped 20 lbs this summer. No cardio, only new food habits. Like lower sugar and pastry consumption, really rich breakfast and light proteine dinner before 6pm, no snacks of course. In combination with power trainings now I really enjoy my fit and not going to stop. :grin2:

That's awesome to hear that you're enjoying your progress, and congratulations on losing 20 pounds! I actually spoke to a nutritionist a while ago who gave me several documents full of advice on what to include in my meals and more. Personally, I've always had a sweet tooth and used to indulge in sugary snacks. I tried quitting cold turkey before, but it only made the cravings worse until I eventually gave in. So this time, over the past few weeks, I've been transitioning to snacks with very low sugar content and plan to completely phase out sugary snacks.

@Starlight Serenade, I have always had a sweet tooth by myself and changing my mindset took a long time, about a year of regular fitness, talking to instructor, studying, experimenting, learning to feel my body.

Don't push yourself too hard. I don't count calories and allow myself a real sweet dessert once per day (but not as midnight snack as I did before! :zipp-wut:). Just stay consistent and you will find your formula. I believe in you :winking-izzy:

P.S. making several miles on regular basis is impressive result!

Your journey is inspiring Count! It's great how you've dedicated time to understanding your body and finding what works best for you. I've been trying to the do the same for the past 2 years.

Yes, I'm learning it’s so important to be kind to yourself and not get caught up in the numbers—though I sat down with my doctor and I made a plan for a caloric deficit daily on top of a better diet and exercise, so I'm trying to maintain a good balance. Thanks for the encouragement, and I’ll keep pushing forward, just like you have! 😊

Aww thanks! All those miles add up, and it’s all about keeping that momentum going!

I so don’t want to be ripped with muscles. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about keeping fit and healthy, but I’m a 5’ 4” girl and I’m pretty sure I’d look strange if I were ripped with muscles. When I work out I try to keep muscle tone without building up. Cardio is another matter, and is always a good idea. But no muscles for me, please.

Biceps and Triceps

Biceps: Bayesian curls. Doing these on a cable tower is best - replicating the movement pattern with a dumbbell is the next best thing, although you'll have no resistance in the bottom position when your bicep is lengthened, so you'll have reduced stretch-mediated hypertrophy. The bicep can also produce the most active tension when it's in the stretched position, so it is key to do these exercises with a full range of motion.

Triceps: Skullcrushers, either with one dumbbell in each hand or an ezcurl bar. Again, the maximum load is placed on your triceps when they're in the lengthened position with this exercise, so it will stimulate a greater amount of hypertrophy than something like a rope pulldown. If you have absolutely no gym equipment at all, dips are probably your best bet.

Pullups and pushups are great exercises but are going to do precisely the square root of jack shit for your biceps and triceps, unless you're doing them incorrectly intentionally. The above two exercises are absolutely the best.
