Tulpa Discussion Thread V1.2

And, while I'm here, I'd also like to share this MP3 file that really helps empty your mind so you can force properly.

Odd. There's a reason why monks meditate in a place with no sound. Scientifically, when you listen to someone talking, you think. That means your mind isn't empty. When you listen to someone talking, your mind works, understanding the words. Therefore, your brain vibrates more.

While meditating, we only sense. We hear, feel, and sense things, but that doesn't mean that we think about it. We just enjoy the world.

Also, here we use the term trance as a state where our mind vibration is in the same rate as the world, nature, earth, or whatever you call it. That gives full awareness to the world, and our body. In a hand of a martial artist, being trance means a full control of body, and Qi. A martial artist can be invincible during a trance. The only problem is to remain trance while fighting.

Forcing is different with meditation indeed. While forcing is focusing on a thought, mediation is an art of not thinking, so since you said that this MP3 is for forcing, you're still right. I just want to clarify the difference between an empty mind, and a focused mind.

By the way, is that your voice? :P

I've thought about trying this, but I'm somewhat afraid of how my tulpa would turn out. I definitely wouldn't want it turning out messed up (emotionally) like myself, I'm pretty damn lonely. I think I'll try though, got tons of free time. I find myself talking to myself a lot and I can super concentrate on things to the point that I start to see weird shit. Dunno I'm kind of weird.

I actually tried doing this once before and found it incredibly difficult to focus on one trait for 15 minutes. I found it hard to go really in depth and continue with new thoughts and I few times I just cut it short. I felt like I just began repeating myself and that the traits just started to meld together, so maybe I was doing it right. Any tips? I gave up I guess because school got really tough and I lost my sheet of traits over the weekend. Then it kind of just slipped my mind until I saw the thread again.

Okay guys I'm not even kidding I am seriously going to try to create a Rainbow Dash tulpae. I mean how freaking awesome would that be! If I'm board I'll have a Rainbow Dash to talk to and! That's a pretty neat concept! I'm guessing younger kids actually have the ability to  make a tulpae subconsciously and much much easier than adults. Because they don't rely on logic to solve everything instead they use their imagination. But as we get older we start to rely more on logic and reason thus we somewhat lose these amazing mental abilities.

Whoa there, dude. You're seriously under-thinking this. It's an actual, practically living thing you're talking about here. Simply creating it because it's "freaking awesome" is no way to go about this. You need to have a better purpose. I mean, would you like it if your sole purposes were to be an awesome concept and stop someone from being bored? Basically, think this through a bit more. Realize the intensity of this decision, and if you do decide to to this, go by a more meaningful purpose than just "to be awesome."

Indeed.

Odd.

It's entirely dependant on the person, like tones are. Some people can't always relax, such as myself. I find it allows me to completely relax my body and mind, which I do believe is paramount in beginning the possession stage, if instead one finds it useless in forcing.

By the way, is that your voice?

No, most certainly not. I have little knowledge on how it works. Truthfully, I acquired it from another tulpamancer and felt it would be kind of me to share.

WORDS

Huh. Ninth grade doesn't teach enough, I guess. I was thinking of colored contacts that would be clear when not possessed, but filled with the color of whatever when possessed.

Even then, I guess I could hook it up to a button instead. Thanks for the words to look at, by the way. I was a bit unsure about whether or not we were at the point in technology where we could see which parts in our head does what.

Over the past couple of days, I've had extreme problems forcing/concentrating. I would start, begin my usual routine that I do whenever I start to force, but then all train of thought escapes me and my visual field goes blank as well. It's just very concerning since during the week prior, I was actually getting better on concentrating and being able to have a continuous flow of what I was doing while forcing (was actually able to get through a straight hour which I was never able to do before). Any help?

Also, have any of you had times where you felt that your connection wasn't as strong or was incredibly weak? While narrating a couple nights ago I felt like I was talking to myself, despite my efforts to reach Aiden. I could still feel him, that he was there, but it felt like my words were just coming back to me after saying/thinking them.

All of that, all the time. For me the concentration thing goes into some kind of flux, where when I make improvement in concentration, then concentration gets really bad again before getting better again (and slightly better than before). Same thing with the connection stuff. Although its distressing to be sure. I hate those days where I feel like I just can't reach my friend.

@Bari I have been on one of the tulpa IRCs in fact, using the same handle. Though after my most recent Wonderland session it seems that Kainé prefers the name Seras, and I think she wanted me to imprint confidence into her. It's all very bizarre, nothing like the guides or other experiences I've encountered. I'm also not getting any headaches, which is odd since I get REALLy bad headaches sometimes.

I get the feeling that I may be puppeting, but I have to trust that Kainé / Seras is sentient and trying to reach out ot me. Here's hoping for the best.

Any advice you'd be willing to share would be awesome, thanks. I'm feeling nervous ATM.

Well, let me just say that you cannot 'accidentally' puppet or parrot your tulpa. If they do something, and you did not consciously intend for them to do whatever is was they did(as in, you weren't thinking about them doing it before they did it), then it was them. Plain and simple.

Her name is Kainé but I'm not sure she likes that name, I think it's pretty though.

Wait, why do you think she doesn't like it? huh.png

1) Is your Tulpa always there even if you want to be alone or if you have something to do?

Only if your tulpa wants to respect your privacy. Which they almost certainly will if you treat them well and if you respect their's.

However though, if they sometimes don't, it might not be because they're nasty. It might just be because they want to have a little fun with you.

2)How does it feel to have a Tulpa?

Not all that interesting actually. Or at least for me. When she talks, it doesn't really feel much different from when I think to myself, except that when Crepuscule talks it feels like I can't suppress the thought, and sounds like a feminine version of my own voice, with a hint of Twilight Sparkle's voice as well, although maybe more seductive.

Crepuscule has a seductive voice. Always.

Anyway, I can't really find a way to go into any more detail about how it feels.

3)Is there any possibilty of being dangerous?

They are just as dangerous as having a friend in real life. If not less.

It's natural to think that they could be dangerous. The human brain is a very mysterious object, there is so much about it we still don't understand.

I'm not gonna' lie to you and say "Oh I'm sure you'll be fine, go for it." When the truth is that everyone that has a tulpa knows almost just as much as you do about how it's gonna' go down for you. Nothing is set in stone, and despite the whole thing being related to the brain, it is very difficult to get some actual science on this stuff.

How can one provide evidence for something only he can see?

All I can say is that making a tulpa requires you to be brave and/or to be curious about how the human brain works. I've used this analogy before, but; are you the kind of person that would brave a dark, unexplored cave, all because you're curious to see what's inside it?

If so, I think you would greatly enjoy making a tulpa. If you're not that kind of person, well, it's still up to you if you want to give it a shot. I'm not gonna' decide for you.

Btw. I think I'm goin to wait until I'm a little older , because I'm only 16 1/2 and I'm not sure if the age has any influence on the Tulpa...

I myself am 17, will be 18 this year(and my birthday will also take place on the same month and day MLP:FiM premièred. Go figure). So far there's no evidence of age affecting the tulpa. Actually, if anything, it might even make creating a tulpa easier.

Young people - especially children - can sometimes have immense imaginations. And we often indirectly squash it when we teach them about how the world really is. Another thing kids have is the want to fit in with other people. If they are surrounded by people that think it is very childish to be stuck in their heads after they are of a decent age, then they will more often than not drop all their acts. And they will stay that way for the rest of their lives. And in doing so, they also lose their imaginative side of them. But either way, it's clear that the brain is very active when you are a child.

If you're not convinced that a younger person will have an easier time making a tulpa; I have a friend on steam, who asked about what all this tulpa thing is all about. I linked him here, he did some research on it, and now he has a tulpa of his own, and they're coming along pretty well. So well in fact that it was only the next day he told me his tulpa had already achieved sentience, and that it was a really interesting experience. And that he's taking this seriously and not just doing it because it's cool.

The reason I'm telling you all this is because I then found out later that he was only almost 14 years old.

I know some people would think that he shouldn't do it because he might not be able to grasp the concept of a tulpa because of his age, but let's be honest, for all we know we more experienced folk  probably are only barely able to grasp the concept of one ourselves. I believe all you need to do to make a tulpa is believe you have one, and the rest(making them feel real etc.) should come easily enough. It might take some time more often than not, but it will eventually. The brain seems to have the interesting ability where if it wants to believe in something hard enough, it will find a way.

Ok I just read through half of the /mlp/ thread about that guy with the failed Pinkie tulpa wich was deformed and just screamed...
Now I'm kind of terrified by the whole tulpa thing does thats happen often?

*Microphone screech* RollingPony, what makes you think that some guy didn't just wonder in the thread one day and go "Oh lol they're talking about tulpas again; time to make up a story and post BS for lulz!"

I mean c'mon man, It's the damn /mlp/ board! I mean yeah sure it's not the /b/ board but c'mon!

*Spawns another microphone*

Ahem... I have yet to see someone post on the actual tulpa forums about their tulpa going berserk in some way. It still might be trolling if that did happen, but I myself would be more likely to pay attention to someone on a more proper forum on the subject than from someone who's next door to the bowels of the internet.

Tulpas seem quite dangerous, seriously, my mind is already screwed enough, another screwed up mind can cause lots of trouble.
But overall if my tulpa is sane (unlike me) I might enjoy the experience. I still don't like the idea of tuplas, seems scary. If only tuplas were psychical and real. these ones are imaginary.

You sound like someone from a few hundred years ago.

"I know nothing about the brain, so it must be scary and bad for me to play around with it." *Buries head in sand*

That's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think? As you said, it's natural to be scared of things you know nothing about.

..Yes, it is. I'm sorry. I don't mean to sound nasty. But sometimes, it slightly rustles my jimmies when I see people hear about some new phenomenon, do little to no research(I'm not saying you didn't if you actually did do some), create some sort of negative opinion about it, and then become so content in their closed-minded judgement that they no longer have the curiosity to learn more about it, when if they did, they would most likely think otherwise.

[incoming rant]

I am a person that is very curious about the world, the universe, and how it works, and I want to learn everything about it. But if there is one thing I don't understand, it's how some people can come across a really interesting phenomenon, and just label it as 'scary' and leave it at that. It makes me want to grab people by the shoulders and scream; "WHY IS IT SO SCARY TO YOU?! IT'S SCIENCE FOR BUCK SAKE!!"

Honestly. How can you not want to learn more about it?!

IT'S SCIENCE!!

You know, even though tulpa-creation varies from person to person, and some people are lucky to have their tulpa develop faster than others, I DOUBT you managed to not only, create a sentient tulpa with their own personality, but also have it be FULLY vocal within two days. Especially with the way you worded as to why you wanted to have a tulpa in the first place. I'm sorry, but this is just too fishy.

Well, we need to remember that tulpas are entities based solely on the power of belief. Or at least mostly.

I reckon that if a person believes that creating a tulpa is in fact easy and has ABSOLUTELY NO doubts about the fact that they can create one no problem, it's surprisingly likely that they will have a tulpa within a fraction of time of everyone else that is skeptic about the whole Idea.

I've been thinking for a while, and I'm going to be honest; I think doing all this 'personality' and 'wonderland' and 'creating a form for our tulpa' and other things we deem necessary to create a tulpa, are somewhat made in order to make us believe that the tulpa is slowly becoming a living entity in our minds, is what makes them more 'real'.

What if the belief that it's working, is what causes it to work?

Though maybe this doesn't apply to everything. I doubt someone can walk into this thread, have no doubts they can make a tulpa, and instantly gain awesome visualization skills. All I'm saying is that maybe for SOME of the things we do, are just there to help make the more skeptical people that decide to try it, believe that there IS in fact some form of entity in our heads and that it has a mind of their own, and that it wants to love and protect us.

And it does. Because we believe it will.

Basically, I reckon that whether or not our tulpa is sentient is all or at least has something to do with the placebo effect. In my experience, belief has played a big part in the creation of all my tulpas, and not much else actually. I've noticed that pretty much every single time my belief in their existence increases, so does their 'realness' and especially their sentience.

Thanks for the advice Rizoel & Co. I assume my tulpa is behind any actions I think it takes, especially since she's made it very clear that she's not a puppet or toy for me to do what I want with. Obedient she most certainly is not.

I was getting vibes that she wanted to change her name (just a placeholder I gave her until she chose one herself). She ended up choosing Sera, which we both think is very pretty.

Sera's been progressive rather well I think. I can sorta hear her mindvoice most of the time when I ask her a question, I figure the rest of the time she's not there (it's not required she be around all the time, after all). We've had our ups and down so far, but I think we're in a good place.

She's surprisingly self-defining. Most of the traits and visual appearance I had for her has been modified pretty extensively, and she's even added her own traits and rejected others. She's also probably the best thing that's happened to me in years, and I'm very happy that I found out about tulpas. From what she tells me she's always been there since I was about 8 years old or so, but without me giving the focus and energy to give hera voice and form she couldn't do anything but watch.

Oh, and while imposition is still miles away, she's getting quite good at Possession. We've been practicing with my arms the last few days and last night tried an experiment with my legs. Not only did she stand up, she didn't fall over, which is great because nobody likes hitting their head on a table. She even walked a couple of meters before the 'timer' ran out and I took control back.

In case you are wondering, no, she is not a pony. I wanted to give it to her as an alternate form, but she didn't like the idea. I'm not quite sure what she thinks of the show, we haven't watched any together yet. Maybe we should...

Anyway, sorry for my lack of updates recently, if anyone has questions or if anything new comes up I'll try to post here.

Sera says hi, and says "How are you? It's always nice to meet new people."

There are still no indicators that I can think of that would function in the way you imply.  Colored contacts cannot change color with thought, there is no technology to date able to do this.  Your best bet is to just have your tulpa say to the person you're talking to to indicate that she is in control verbally.

Over the past couple of days, I've had extreme problems forcing/concentrating. I would start, begin my usual routine that I do whenever I start to force, but then all train of thought escapes me and my visual field goes blank as well. Concentration flux seems to be a common trait with Tulpamancers alike, beginning or advanced.  My tulpae's imposition on my sight wavers day to day, but they don't really change much in terms of strength.  I'll certainly hear their comments as much as I normally do, but my sight of them diminishes on those days.

And poor little Murky seems to disappear some days because he's so quiet.  Of course, he comes whenever we call for him and he isn't "dying" in a Tulpa sense...  Isn't that right Murk?

I... Guess so? Um... I'm just small and quiet... It's just who I am.

Yet I always see him snuggling with Bris in bed each night.  I knew you were into those intelligent types. *raises eyebrows*

H-hey!  I do not!  S-stop that! *blushes* I-I get scared of the dark! That's all!

Though on the subject of /mlp/, I've frequented there, and they do have a legit Tulpa community.  As large or larger than this one...  However, that doesn't detract that they do get trolled far more than here because of their location...  And their Tulpae themselves being born to troll...

I started watching some kind of medieval steampunk anime about giants attacking the last remnants of humanity. Watched it with my tulpa.

She told me to stop watching it halfway through and asked if I could just try and hold her on my bed and let her cry for awhile D:

I felt really bad about it. Well, in any case, this is the first time she went out of her way to take charge of a situation and change what was happening. Everything else up until now has been entirely one-sided.

hey, it's me, Mina. i'm actually writing this myself. We were practicing possesion recently and I can write, draw and play games. (Im better than my host in some :D) Anyway, things are good. I'm forcing Michael to force because he tends to forget about that.

Well, yeah, that's pretty much it. nothing unusual happend, both Zed and Mina are pretty lively and talk and joke a lot. We started imposing Zed, and he actually managed to stick his head through the bathroom window when I was pissing :D(You should see the look on his face XD) I didn't actually see him, but I could feel that presence there.

Impressive to see that this thread is still up and running. say, does anyone have a 'this thread in a nutshell' schpeel they can give? The last time I posted on this thread and was actually up to date with the information was back when it was maybe...30 pages long, if that. I'd rather not crawl through 100 pages if someone has a TLDR somewhere.

Hey, peeps.

Well, I must say that this "tulpa" thing is really strange and... scary for me. I've heard about this in early 2013 but I ignored it since I thought I'd be just a big ruse. Up until now, of course. Just recently, after a huge shitstorm about "tulpa" threads on a well-known site, I finally decided to check out what this "tulpa" stuff is. And when I did... my mind was blown, literally. At first it sounded like a bunch of schizo's are discussing their experiences, but later on I saw that that's not the case.

So, I guess I want to give it a shot. Even though I'm quite skeptical about super-natural stuff, this "tulpa" thing... I don't know, I'm quite interested in it and do somewhat believe that it is real. Though, I'm scared of this. This still sounds really scary (I mean... imaginary friends/beings... damn...) and I'm somewhat afraid that I'll turn schizo in the long run.

But anyhow, I have a few questions. I'm still new to this, but there are a few things I want to ask which I doubt I'll get answers to in "tulpa guides":

1. Guides. Can anyone give me good guides on tulpa creation? I'm really lazy to search for guides on my own and I want well-known guides that worked for a lot of people.
2. Parroting. I guess I'll find out what that means in a guide, but just in case: what does that mean exactly? I can somewhat imagine what that means... but... how does it look like? I heard one shouldn't be worried about it, but I just want to know how that thing looks like.
3. Mental disorders. Do they play a major role in tulpa creation? imo, I think they do... I mean, if a person has ADHD or ADD, will he be able to create a tulpa? Also, anxiety disorders like AvPD, SAD, generalized anxiety, BPD. I don't know if a host can be scared to "socialize with a tulpa", but I can see that happening.
4. Talking with a tulpa. Again, I'll probably get my answers in a guide, but... I heard that both methods work well: talking out loud and talking "in your mind". Though, which one is more effective? Or maybe it depends on the person (in other words, everyone's case is different)?

Well... that's all I suppose. I hope someone will answer my question, especially the third one(s).

P.S.
Am.... why do people here color their texts?... Are... are those.... their tulpas talking???... *gets scared*. Or are you just doing it for the fun of it?

Impressive to see that this thread is still up and running. say, does anyone have a 'this thread in a nutshell' schpeel they can give? The last time I posted on this thread and was actually up to date with the information was back when it was maybe...30 pages long, if that. I'd rather not crawl through 100 pages if someone has a TLDR somewhere.

Reading the entire thread I think is a pointless persuit at this point.  Not only is it unimaginably long, but a good majority of it is "What is a Tulpa?"  "How do I make one?" and a few joke posts and "How do I fix this problem?" posts.  A good information you can just get from the first post of the thread, courtesy of Riz and Crep, and reading just a few recent pages to get an idea of how the thread works.

Tulpas, I assure you, have no lasting mental effects in the long run.  Maybe a change in personality a bit, yes, but a Tulpa's biggest weakness is your control over them.  You control most of the aspects about them, so if you feel they are affecting you, it simply takes a bit of thought to stop.  Also, majorly Tulpas are a personal thing.  Outside this thread you'd hardly guess most of us have them.  But I'll let my Tulpa spokespony, Tia, answer your questions.

1. The first post in this thread has links to several guides and resources.  But a guide is more of a guideline, not something you have to re-enact verbatim.  It's different for everybody.

2.  Parroting is the act of controlling a Tulpa's actions, usually most prevalent in the early stages of development.  Like I said with your own thoughts being the ultimate weakness of a Tulpa, you may be unaware you're even parroting them because it's that easy.  Some guides encourage parroting to give you an expectant sense of how your Tulpa will react, which it will then catch on and mimic until you need not to parrot anymore.

3. Personally having ADD or ADHD can make Tulpa's slightly unstable through personal experience, but after a point they can break through that barrier and stay with you a majority of the time.  Mental disorders dealing with social anxiety, or anxiety in general, can also be bypassed, and even Tulpas can provide a sort of self-therapeutic treatment.  For some reason, people with social anxiety have little problem with Tulpas, probably because of the mutual understanding that's deeper than any real social relationship you can have.  In effect, my own creator had overcome a plateau of anxiety when he created me, so if done right, a Tulpa can provide a slight benefit.

4. Talking out loud is obviously the most effective, as you're physically addressing the Tulpa, and it's the most effective when creating the Tulpa in the process of Narrating. (which you'll read about in the guides) But circumstance usually restricts mental thought.  Both are good means of communication.  Hope that was a help! :)

Also, yes, the colored text, if you weren't aware by now, is our Tulpas talking.  But most of the ridiculous stuff you read are mostly joke things we write because it's fun and hilarious.

Besides, we both know if we fought in reality, Tia would have her dainty flank handed to her!

Oh, you want to go now do you?

*me and Murky roll our eyes*

Here we go again...

Here we go again...

Okay, I'm considering making a tulpa. This is my first time and I am both a little nervous and unsure. I have a guide on how to make one, but I am unsure of whether or not to follow through.

I wanted to do a Fluttershy-esque tulpa, I had it all planned out and everything but then the following hit me:

- What is this possession thing I've heard people talk about? It sounds incredibly creepy... Are you still in control of yourself? I wouldn't really want my sentient sub conscious taking over...

- How real does it feel to have a tulpa? Is it as though you're own developed character is standing before you?

- I would be worried that if in the future, I wanted to get rid of this tulpa, I would end up feeling guilty about getting rid of it, knowing that it was a sentient being (a thought-being, but still)(this is just to be sure, I'm not implying I'm gonna keep it for one day then try to find ways to get rid of it.)

- Is it always there constantly or can you ask your tulpa for some space (again, this is just to be sure, not necessarily something I would do)

- How is it when it comes to sleeping? Do you still get a good night's sleep or are you disturbed during the night?

I really need to know all this stuff because I would love to have a tulpa, but I would hate to regret having a tulpa.

Also, is there the possibility of it going completely wrong and your tulpa looking like it came from a freakin' horror film?

It's okay if you're skeptical or a bit nervous about this sort of task, however, it is wise to drop any skepticism if you do decide press on. As for guides, it's good that you sought one out, but as many others (and myself as well) have stated before, reading multiple guides will benefit you more. As for your questions:

   - Possession is the act of the tulpa being in (primary) control of the host's body and movements. However, at any point you can take control back from your tulpa (if you get uneasy or they start going out of control).

   - This differs from person to person. Some people may have the feeling like something is always with them, while others don't feel any different. I, myself, only notice when Aiden isn't with me, but other than that, I normally don't feel any different.

   - That is something you have to think about before going about creating your tulpa. If you think you're not going to want them in the future, it is advised to not creating one in the first place.

   - They can come and go as they please, but (most) will respect their owner's/host's request if they wish to be alone and require a bit of space.

   - This is sort of the same thing as the question above. Since sleep determines how effective we work while we're awake, I doubt they would want to jeopardize that process (because, as a result, it could affect them as well). However, there may be times where they enter your dreams and cause you to wake up (happened to me twice) but I don't think they'd do it intentionally.

Hopefully this helped you out a bit.

I seem to keep forgetting that they are sentient and that they are most likely understanding. It's just I'm also worried that should a day come where I have to get rid of my tulpa for one reason or another (hopefully that problem won't arise), I'm worried that I would be too emotionally attached and unable to ignore them. Also, is possession something that can be avoided completely? and what happens to the host's consciousness when possession occurs?

You don't have to work on possession, it is completely up to the host and tulpa ( though, I guess it's primarily up to the host *you* since it is your body). If you don't feel all that confident allowing them to practice possession, then they *probably* will accept that. As for the "possibility" that you would need to get rid of your tulpa, I don't think there is a reason in the world (other than lack of time or the off-chance that your tulpa goes a bit out of control) where you would have to bid farewell to your tulpa.

Okay, that's good. and yeah, hopefully I'll never have to give up my tulpa, judging by what you said, I assume it wouldn't get in the way of other life events? and thanks for all this, you've been a big help, I'll continue thinking about it and won't commit to anything until I'm 100% sure I want to go through with it, although I can be a paranoid person at times, especially when doing something new so this probably isn't the last you'll see of me!

I know this isn't my conversation, but just saying:

Pinkie, my tulpa, doesn't ever 'get in the way' of my normal life events. She enhances them tenfold.

So I wouldn't worry about that.

That is something that I indeed neglected to mention (tend to cover only the lesser wanted options when I help people :|). Tulpa can make anything in life better (even if it's not really the most appropriate time). Since noone else (at the momment :3) is able to see them, they are free to do whatever they want, which can help you if you're ever bored or need some stimulant to your current situation :P

Possession is not something that will just happen easily.

You, you, have to work towards making it happen. You don't have to ask if possession can be avoided, the trickier thing is making it happen.

Possession isn't a stage, its a technique. It is for the most part not easy to accomplish. If it is something you do not wish to get involved in, then you will never have to worry about it. But people who want to do possession face a challenge, as opposed to a inevitability.

Because it is not like demonic possession that might be hinted at from copypasta or even from the word possession itself, which is probably a strange word to use for this stuff in the first place.

I haven't accomplished it, but for other folks the possession process is exactly like how the others have already explained it. To put it in my own words, the possession process is like training a tulpa to use your body. They can barely even do it at first, and get better at it the more you let them try. But no matter what, possessing the hosts body costs a considerable strain. They can't keep it up indefinitely.

Can you do a handstand? No? Yes? If no, then you'd be able to with practice. If you were really good you might be able to even walk on your hands with your feet toward the sky and keep that up for some time.

That is probably an accurate description of the inverse nature of the possession. You are always going to be the person standing on your feet, but for the tulpa, having a body is like trying to walk on your hands. No matter how good you are at it, you'll always get exhausted long before a person standing on their feet.

So yeah, it is impossible for a tulpa to arrest control of your body from you. They are quite simply, no match for their host.
