It's a very scary thought for some. If you were to ask practically anyone who ended up defecting from their own country, leaving absolutely everything behind, friends, family, their former life, with nothing but but a duffle-bag of stuff, even if they know with every inch of their being that they're going to a better place, taking that leap of faith is utterly terrifying. I haven't even done anything that extreme, but the jump was still so very anxiety-inducing. And neither of those scenarios involved going to an alien world.

Good idea. This disease mars you like nobody's business.

But people don't seem worried they'll be trapped there - rather, their fear seems to be the portal remaining open, not closing.

I kind of think your perception of both worlds is a little unbalanced.

What if you were living in Griffonstone or Klugetown rather than Equestria?

well i said it in my first post that i would let my friends come before closing it, maybe start a thread here asking what would you do if a portal to equestria is open and recruit everyone who said that  would enter (did muffinnz found a portal??)

Heh, I've seen Pleasantville. I was too young to understand the metaphor but I'm not sure that's relevant or not. When you consider the underlying sociopolitical stuff, it makes sense, but just taking the story at face value, the plot is utterly horrid and very apologistic towards meddling with other cultures.

no one that would be something really tragic, they just might get a bit sad or something, and yeah my irl friends wouldnt really want to go to equestria and recruiting by internet seems like the most efficient way, ofc i would chose only specific peps to share those secret infos. or i could just hop alone xD idc if i would be egoist

I would visit Equestria once in a while, but I would not go there permanently. Even if I could be good friends with Twilight.

Now, I would most likely have to figure out how to close the portal if I am found out, however, hopefully it can be opened from the other side at specified times (or at request, if, say, I had Sunset's book).

I hate permanent changes. I also do not see why I should abandon my job, my home etc and go there permanently.

I would have stay in Equestria forever and as long as being a pegasus pony mean having wing and fly around and i would be good friend with rainbow dash and scootaloo and the mane 6 and cmc and  will have a sword and shield cutie mark and equestria is a far better place than earth
