Shadow moved her gaze away from watching the dark king and justice king to look in awe as everything around them is washed away before her very eyes. They were going home!

Shadow did not wait for the familiar lobby of the arcade building to appear, she immediately went for Trilby and hugged him “We all did it!” she yelled joyfully, ignoring the gasps from the ponies who of a small crowd gathered around them “We went back to Friendshire!”

"Ahh, at last, the game is complete...and it seems that the two mayors are friends a....wait a second! I think I understand now!" Thundy all of a sudden exclaimed as he turned towards the others. He was still the Super Mario Land cat costume he had on before. 

"Everyone! Perhaps this was just more than a game! This was a quest...a quest to restore and reunite!" He deduced. 

"You're right Thundy! Now...I can finally get back to my DDR fun stuff." Chelsea stated. "I may join you in a bit" Thundy said to Chelsea.

Pencil clapped excitedly now that the game was finally over. While it was fun in the beginning, she couldn’t help but feel like things grew tedious the more every pony progressed. Now, the treasure was laid out right in front of them for easy taking. At last, everyone could end this mess and go home. Pencil bounded towards the hoard along with Trilby and anyone else who wanted to tag along. She was about halfway there when Thundy and Dynamo began expressing their concerns. They said that perhaps going for the treasure wasn’t such a good idea.

Is the treasure really part of a “bad ending”? Isn’t this why we came here in the first place, to get the treasure? Pencil thought, completely puzzled by the suspicions. As she heard more of what they had to say, however, she understood that perhaps the easiest ending would not be the best one. That at least made sense to her. It was the same with her art, the best results would only come from the hardest work.

While the kings spoke with each other, Dynamo was making quite the elaborate speech. Pencil was rather proud of him for being so brave but could also tell speaking out like this was making him very nervous. She understood how public speaking, especially towards those in power, could be a terrifying thing. When there was a break in his speech, she went over to check on him.

“Are you okay, Dynamo?” she asked. She knew from prior experience that she might not get an answer from him until later, which was fine with her. As long as he was okay, that was all Pencil was concerned about.

Dynamo’s speech proved to be effective as shown by the kings finally surrendering to each other and declaring peace. Pencil smiled as the words “Perfect Ending” appeared in the air. She was glad that she took Thundy and Dynamo’s warnings and didn’t go for the treasure after all. This ending was much more rewarding. No sooner had the ending commenced, however, that the game finally decided to transport everyone back to the real world. Pencil barely had enough time to process the game’s ending before her artist’s smock was quickly replaced with the cat costume that she was wearing earlier.

After Pencil had gotten used to her surroundings and her real life senses returned to her, the game relayed a message saying that while it was still playable, it would not trap its players ever again. Pencil took a hard pass on its offer as she wanted nothing to do with that crazy VR set ever again. A cat-like growl escaped her lips as she faced the opposite direction of the game.

Looking down at herself, Pencil decided it was probably time to ditch the cat costume. It was cute and very fun to wear, but to be honest, she was done wearing costumes for a while. Turning towards Chelsea, she asked,

“Is it okay if I go back to my normal self now? Or did Thundy make this costume, I can’t remember...”

Thundy heard Pencil's comment. "I can do that." He said as he gathered some energy and let out a current on Pencil. The cat costume disappeared. He then made the cat costume on himself disappear. "Say, you wanna watch Chelsea and I play some DanceDanceRevolution?" Thundy asked.

Pencil thanked Thundy for changing her back to her cute equine self. She flicked her tail and ears around to readjust herself to her real-life body for a moment. When she was finished, she smiled when Thundy offered to have her go watch him and Chelsea play another game. Nodding at him, she said,

“Sure, I’ll come watch!”

"Then come this way." Thundy said, leading Pencil towards a game with two metal platforms connected together with bars for leaning or holding. Chelsea gathered some water energy and shapeshifted into her bipedal form. She wasn't as tall as Thundy. Thundy gathered some electricity and shapeshifted into his bipedal form. "What do you say Chelsea, shall we warm up with a little Xepher?" Thundy asked. "I'd say we put on show. I've been yearning to perform that next level routine we mastered." Chelsea said.

It was like scenes from a memory, but the epic dream came to an end before she could add much commentary or cause trouble at the end. She expected something more bittersweet, but she liked a happy ending too.

Appearing back in the 3D (or at least for them) world, Pastel shook and smiled brightly. Looks like she was totally back to normal.

"How cool was all that!? We totally kicked butt! I had a this dream, and you were there, and you were there..."

She blinked. Oh yeah. The VR thing. She stood up straight and smiled awkwardly.

"Oh yeah, we DID do that. 2D beats 3D any day!"

It seems whatever chuunibyo or magical spell came over the former assassin was gone. Pastel was totally back to normal and hopefully her friends weren't too weirded out by her antics.

Pastel walked up to Dynamo, with probably the most awkward smile she ever had. She was a thumbs up away from a shonen protag.

"Hey Dyny? That was like, the coolest thing I ever saw! We were really cool! I mean, YOU were really cool, like, a real hero and stuff! What I mean is... You were awesome. And, sorry for being all crazy. I had fun. And I got to be, well... More than just a dumb little filly... That I could stand on my own too... But you were the hero of this story, and I'm sorry if I gave you some trouble. Everycreature was great, but... You were super special awesome!"

"That was fun!" Tree Song says when the game is finally over. "And we did a good thing for the town, didn't we?" She is really happy with the outcome of the game, and hopes for more exciting things to happen in the future. "So, what do we do now?"

She also thinks about her teacher. I will have to find him soon. Knowing him, he probably already found some magical anomalies that need to be dealt with...

They were back, and the game was over!
Trilby give a sigh of relief and hugs Shadow back. "We're free! We're finally free!" He's so happy that he turns to Shadow, and moves in for a victory kiss.
Tempest shakes off any lingering feelings of being in that game. "Not exactly how I wanted to spend my first day in Friendshire, but it's not one I will forget any time soon... I wonder Bluebell went." Tempest says before looking around.
Elusive blinks, looks around, goes wide-eyed, GRABS her real microphone and news crew, and starts reporting. "Great galloping stampedes, audience! This is Elusive Facts, star reporter of Friendshire News! IJustGotBackFromAHARROWINGExperienceAndIHaveTheInsideScoop--" She goes off at a million words a minute, almost sounding unintelligible. Guess she must have been holding her reporter instincts back for too long...

But what really seems to impress the crowd is the re-appearance of not one, but BOTH mayors. A vocal murmur stirs among the crowd, you can hear citizens excited to see them both and wondering if this means they'll start ruling over the town again.

The murmur is enough to break the heart-felt moment they were having. The two mayors look around before Mayor White starts coughing.
Violently coughing.
Oh, that's right. In the real world, Mayor White is extremely anorexic and riddled with health problems. And since he is frail once more, the very opposite of how he was in the game, he falls to ground from his failing health. Mayor Black is beside himself. "This? This is what you've become since we split up?! You IDIOT!!! Have you learned nothing from what I've tried to tell you?! If you had just been a little more greedy like me, you wouldn't be on the ground suffering from poor health!! Why is it so hard for you to just harden your heart a little?!" Mayor Black berates his brother.

Though he is sick and not getting better, Mayor White looks up at his once-more overweight and grotesque brother. "And yet... For all your talk about not caring about me anymore... You seem to be showing a great deal of worry over my well being." Mayor White has to break every few words to cough and wheeze. "Well, brother? Am I wrong? Have you really stopped caring about me and this town we built? ... Please, return to my side. Let's rule together. Open your-- Open your--" Mayor White pleads, only to be cut off from too much coughing. He was probably going to tell Mayor Black to open his heart. For a second, Mayor Black considers it. The audience seems to want it.

But his memories come crashing back. "...No. Reuniting won't fix this town. It didn't work back then, and it won't work again. The only way I'll ever return to your side is if this town is saved, and not before. Til then, I refuse to work with a failure." Mayor Black declares. The crowd, who was desperately hoping for the return of the two mayors, gives audible sounds of sadness, disapproval, and a little bit of anger. Mayor Black looks around, hesitating a moment. He looks like a pony who is second guessing himself. Instead, he turns around and runs over to his most trusted subordinate. "KRONOS! You're still on the clock. I'll pay double you're usual free, TRIPLE if you need it. Just get me out of here, immediately. Make me vanish. I'll show you the location to my new office." Mayor Black says and opts to leave with Kronos.

Was this really it? After such a sweet ending to the game, this is how it ends in real life?
Sadly, Mayor White turns to his confidant as well. "Trilby! Please... Help me get back to my medical tent... My health is fading fast." So much for his moment with his marefriend. With a heavy heart, Trilby goes over and helps Mayor White up, letting him lean on him. "Shadow, when I see you tomorrow, let's have that second date like we talked about. Sorry it didn't happen today. And Dynamo, you were amazing in the game. I don't care what anyone else says, you were the hero today. ... Oh, and please don't tell Samurai about what I did in the games. I just want to go back to being a humble haberdasher."

Shadow looks at Elusive and smiled at her cheery attitude. Everyone is happy they got back, so is Shadow, and not only they got out of the game but the two mayors of the town are here, and the last thing they have to wait is their approval.

However, Mayor White, who is formally the justice king suddenly began coughing uncontrollably. Shadow become quickly worried, and when she saw Mayor White collapse, she quickly made an attempt to help him.

But, Mayor Black reached him first, and much to Shadow's shock, began to make throw a tantrum for his brother's poor help. The reunion of the two mayors is completely thrown out of the window when, even when Mayor White tried to convince his brother to stop being greedy, Mayor Black refuses. Shadow frowned.

Shadow silently nod in approval, watchig as Trilby helped the mayor up.

However, another bad news is about to come.

Hearing the group has returned, Sundae galloped throughout town, going to the arcade. She would occasionally push someone out of her way and yelling an apology to them without looking back.

Despite being given orders from his employer, he couldnt help but hesitate slightly as he is ordered to extract his client away from his ill brother. Kronos himself has a sibling he disagrees with to the point of hatred as well, but even he would do anything to help her out. Hell, he even retrofitted her with her own custom prosthetics in her time of desperate need.
 

Shaking his head to rid himself of his self loathing, he reads the new coordinates and proceeded to deploy smokescreen from vents in his samurai suit. The smoke deployed wasnt particularly fatal to respiratory systems, so it wouldnt cause or aggravate any health problems the denizens may have. 

Soon enough, Kronos manages to drop off his client at his destination. He gave a salute and a bow to Mayor Black and he proceeded to turn back to the town square. 
 

I know i work for him, Kronos thought to himself, But i cant help but feel very uneasy about Mayor Black after THAT display. I mean, that was his brother for crying out loud. I know i can be a ruthless bastard at times myself, but even i draw the line at cruelty towards family. Knowing what he’s currently capable of and only imagining what else he is capable of makes me reluctant to simply turn tail and leave him, but still, I cant just stand idly by while that poor old stallion suffers. 
 

Kronos proceeded to return to where he initially was at with Mayor White and the others. He went over and offered his assistance. 
 

“Do you guys need any help with him?” Kronos proceeded to ask Trilby and Shadow.

Dynamo waited patiently with baited breath as he awaited to see what the two mayors would decide. He wasn't sure if what he had said was good enough or not, but he did his best in getting his feelings across. He gasped softly as the Justice King drew his blade, before suddenly tossing it towards the ground. Words had been said, but it seemed that no words were needed. As the two mayors had reached out to shake hooves, while the game had announced that the group had attained the True Ending. The blue unicorn smiled as it seemed that his assumptions were correct. He didn't get time to give his thoughts on the two brothers as he and everyone else was teleported out of the game.

As he returned back to the real world, Dynamo slowly opened his eyes as he was lying upon the ground. His vision was hazy as he it felt like he was dreaming. Gathering his bearings, the blue unicorn slowly, but surely managed to get to his hooves. Standing up, he took notice that he wasn't in his Force Gambler outfit, but back in his regular clothing. Even the arcade he was familiar with was back into view. From the looks of things, it seemed that Dynamo and the others were finally back in the real world. "D-Did we do it? Did we really complete the game?" He asks, looking around to see the two mayors were both in the arcade, as well as shaking each other's hoof. "If the two mayor's are here, then that really means that we won the game." He smiled, seeing that this truly was the real world. Another thing he took notice was the treasure that was in the castle was now in the arcade. The only difference was that the treasure transformed into magical quartz. Dynamo had remembered that Final Premonition had asked for quartz from Astral. He wondered if this was the ore that he had spoken of. If he ran into the stallion again, then he'd be sure to ask at some point. He had even heard about the game whispering through the power of the VR machine. He raised his eyebrows as the game had mentioned of more levels that were available. However, he decided to not worry about that for the time being. Right now, he was just glad and thankful to be home.

As Thundy had brought up the game being a quest, Dynamo could only nod his head in agreement. "I think that's true. I remember Astral had told me something about the Laronde Box. The main event from the box was the arcade. So, perhaps this was what the Laronde Box wanted us to accomplish." He began to wonder why the box had wanted them to gain this True Ending, but he couldn't exactly figure out why. "Hmm...perhaps the box is trying to get Friendshire back to what it originally looked like. Right before the two mayor's had started to fight and rule the town on either side." He speculated, but knew it was just a guess in theory. He might have to look into that at some point in time. The gaming unicorn looked over towards Pencil, who had asked if he was okay. He remembered how he had almost let his emotions get the better of him during his talk to the two mayors. "Eeyup. I'm okay and thank you for the concern, Pencil. I've just had a lot going on and recalled a bit of some memories. That, and I might need to talk to you, Trilby and Shadow about something at some point. Don't worry as there's nobody is in trouble. It's just that I needed to get your opinions on something and I wanted to have a private chat." He explained with a small smile and nod.

Dynamo soon turned his attention over towards Pastel, who was giving the unicorn an awkward smile. "I'm glad you thought I looked cool. To be honest, I don't know how that happened or why. Something was telling me to accept my destiny and after seeing you all got hurt. I just knew I couldn't let anything happen to you or anyone else." He tilted his head in confusion as she put herself down, before shaking his head. "That's not true. You're not a dumb little filly. You were just being yourself and nobody can fault you for that. You were literally in a video game and that means you got to live the dream. If we weren't on a quest, then I probably would have done the same thing. I don't consider myself a hero as I was only doing the right thing. Plus, I couldn't have gotten through that whole thing without you and the others. So, it's like I said. You're not a dumb little filly. You were of great help and you were awesome. You weren't any trouble as you helped us through those battles. Give yourself more credit next time, Pastel-chan." He says, giving the young mare a kind and honest smile.

Everything seemed to be perfect, but it all changed from the discussion of the two mayors. Dynamo's ears fell as he heard the sounds of violent coughs from Mayor White, while Mayor Black had begun to yell and berate his brother. Seeing the relationship that looked to have been mended deteriorate right in front of him was heartbreaking. However, Dynamo knew that a simple speech and quest from a game wouldn't solve everything. There had to be more to it than just that to potentially reunite the two mayors to be family again. He waited silently as Mayor White asked his brother to return. Even though he seemed to show hesitation, Mayor Black was still adamant in his decision. The blue unicorn's shoulders slumped as it felt like he had failed. All that hard work to get the brothers to talk and shake hooves was all for nothing. Was the Laronde Box wrong, or was that quest just to scratch the surface of them reuniting? He wasn't sure, but Mayor Black's words had caught his attention. "Excuse me, Mayor Black? What do you mean by if this town is saved and not before?" He wanted to ask further, but it seemed that Mayor Black wanted to take his leave. It didn't help that he had called his brother a failure. Hearing that word caused him to flashback momentarily at someone who said the same word.

"Once a failure, always a failure."

Dynamo gasped as he could hear the laughter of those that had disrespected him, before shaking his head to rid himself of the bad memories. He felt himself hyperventilating, but tried to get his breathing under control. All the while, trying not to let anyone take notice of what happened to him. He was thankful that Trilby had caught his attention, before nodding in understanding. "Thank you and you were pretty awesome yourself, Trilby. I don't deserve all of the credit. It's just like I told Pastel-chan. You, her, Pencil, Shadow and everyone else are heroes too. I couldn't have gotten anywhere without, you guys." He blinked in confusion as Trilby had mentioned Samurai, before slowly nodding in understanding. "I want to ask, but I know you have to go and help Mayor White. Maybe I'll ask you why later, but for the meantime, okay. I won't say anything to Samurai."

As Pencil made her way over to the DDR, she stopped momentarily as Dynamo began to speak to her. He had asked for another private chat which Pencil was glad to take part in. She nodded at him then continued with the two griffons to the game. She had nearly arrived when suddenly, Mayor White and Mayor Black had also arrived back in the real world. To Pencil’s shock, Mayor White was unbelievably thin while his brother was unbelievably overweight.

She couldn’t help but overhear the mayors’ arguing as they began to chastise and criticize each other. It was sad that unlike in VR, these two were completely at ends with each other in real life. She wanted to say something, as she had had a bit of experience with sibling fights before, but before she could even walk over to them, the brothers demanded to depart. Mayor White was escorted to a clinical tent by Trilby and Mayor Black had asked Kronos to take him somewhere far away.

The shouting matches had ceased but Pencil could still hear another distressed noise in the distance. After taking a moment to look around, she had realized that the fighting had managed to upset Dynamo. She rushed over to him to see if there was anything she could do to calm him down.

“D-Dynamo?” she asked, her throat tightening out of fear.

As Thundy was just about to start the game, he heard what seemed to be an altercation of some sort. He turned and saw what appeared to be the two mayors. It appeared one had some serious health problems and the other was yelling at the cough. 

Chelsea felt it as well. She saw the look on Pencil's face as she rushed over to Dynamo. 

Thundy and Chelsea followed suit. Chelsea sort of hugged Dynamo from the side, trying to look into his eyes.

The situation over there looked pretty serious though. Unlike in that world, there's nothing of use she could do here. Unless the mayor wanted a song... She looked up to Dynamo again and saw him give off an odd expression. Not to be outdone by Chelsea, she hugged him as well.

Dynamo blinked as Pencil had called out to the blue unicorn. Turning towards the purple unicorn, he took note of the concern in her expression. It was also evident in the others as Thundy and Chelsea had joined the discussion. "Oh. S-Sorry about that, you guys." He would say with an apologetic expression and tone. "You see, something like that happened to me a couple of years ago. Although, I wasn't exactly friends with this group, they had it out for me for their own reasons. Hearing Mayor White being called a failure by his brother kind of gave me a flashback of sorts. I'll be okay as I'm okay now." He explained, doing his best to give a reassuring look to not make his friends worry. He felt a hug from the side by Chelsea, before returning the hug.

"Well, when you put it that way...then yeah. I guess that would be pretty cliche, but it's not untrue, right?" He chuckled as he nodded in agreement with Pastel's response. Dynamo smiled softly as he felt Pastel hugged him, as well. "Thank you, Pastel-chan. I'm glad you think that way and I'm grateful to be your hero." He responded, returning the hug without a second thought.

"Well, you showed everyone that you got the power of video games inside you. Now...I could help you out even further by transferring some of the abilities you had in the game to real life. It's gonna be more difficult since it's reality. You'll have to think harder but as always, it's not what's in your head...it's what's in your heart." Thundy said pointing to his head then putting his talon over his heart as he said this.

Mayor Black tells Kronos how to find the secret location of his brand new office. He pays him the money he promised and lets Kronos leave for the day, thanking him for his hard work.

But when he's all alone in his office, Mayor Black sits at his desk, head in his hooves, and oddly still. For the rest of the day, the trouble-making mayor is silent, alone with his demons...

"Be sure to look after the treasure! If the town doesn't want it back, then who knows who will come for it." Trilby says to Dynamo at the last second before he leaves with Mayor White. He won't stick around long enough for Kronos to get back in time; though he would have appreciated the offer. He still would have said no thanks, but Trilby would have definitely appreciated Kronos' offer to help.
Won't be an easy journey. He has to take back roads and even teleport to make sure no one is following them both. Trilby will make sure he gets the medical attention he needs. Perhaps if Nopony is vigilant, he'll spot Trilby in the distance escorting Mayor White away.

Thankfully, there is a chest that all those magical quartz stones can fit into. And even more thankfully, none of the towns folk seem interested in it.

If anything, they are more upset that the two mayors aren't coming back. Kind of puts a sour note on the video game tournament. Some of the crowd even disperses. Elusive Facts decides to stick to her news crew, though she gives Dynamo and the others a kind wave goodbye. Tempest Shadow decides to continue looking for Bluebell.

You know, it's funny Thundy should mention video game magic. If Dynamo were to look at his waistline, he'll notice that the game gave him a special parting gift. A rather cool looking belt of some kind. Maybe he'll notice, maybe Pastel or Thundy will notice and point it out for him. Who knows!

While clinging onto Dynamo like a tick, however, something odd caught her eye, breaking the hug before jumping up to pat him on the waist. That was dangerously close to a spanking.

Before she could answer to Kronos, Shadow was interrupted by someone calling her name. She immediately recognize the voice as Sundae's and she look behind Kronos to see Sundae, approaching them, panic in her face “Sundae, is everything alright?” Shadow asked.

“Shadow, Keen Fan is in coma!” Sundae yelled loud enough for everyone to hear, including Kronos.

“What?” Seriously, first Mayor White, then Keen Fan!? Shadow stuttered as she tried to process what Sundae said “I uh, uh uh, ...what?”

The druid sees a pony with the brown eyes from his vision! He seems to be escorting an ill pony somewhere. But soon they vanish in a flash of magic. Looks like they teleported away. There is no way to follow them, so Nopony goes back to grazing.

Tree Song hears a pony yelling something to Shadow Trail. Somepony is in coma? This sounds serious, and possibly it's something Nopony and me will have to investigate. She pays close attention to the conversation.

Shadow mustered all of her strength to breakthrough her shock and ask Sundae, hopefully, she knew what has happened to her friend, Keen.

“H-How did she went into coma?”

“I don't know, Shadow!” Sundae replied “I was just checking if everypony is fine, then a pony approached me and told me Keen went into a coma!” this fueled Shadow's curiosity. A stranger has already found out before the ponies she knew in town? That's suspicious. Her expression turned serious as she went from casual to Detective Conan mode (though she isn't a very good investigator if she did become a detective)

“Keen, what is their name?” she asked.

“I-I don't know. They did not want to tell me their name, is just- ugh, ah, argh” Sundae scratched her head in angry frustration “They just call themselves Nopony!"

“W-well if you ever need to talk about anything, I’m h-here to listen,” Pencil offered to Dynamo. She broke eye contact for a moment then immediately regretted it and tried to refocus her eyes. After a couple of seconds she gave it up so it wouldn’t look like she was staring at Dynamo. Instead, Pencil busied herself with imagining her next set of sketches.

It’s too bad I don’t have my sketchbook with me now. Oh well, guess I can air draw she thought, waving a hoof in the air.

Anyone else might see this action as rather strange, but Pencil didn’t mind. She drew invisible weapons, outfits, and armor in the air from everything she could remember from the game. She then drew some magical attacks shooting from some of the weapons while making some whoosh sounds with her mouth. Once those were “finished”, she sketched the odd building blocks she stacked with Silver. As she was drawing them, she imagined she was stacking them again and creating a sharp and extravagantly tall tower.

"That's my teacher!" Tree Song enters the conversation. "He doesn't want to reveal his true name. What he usually does is tracking magical anomalies, so this situation has probably something to do with it... By the way, I'm Tree Song." She introduces herself to Sundae Delight.

Sundae looked at a pony approaching them named Tree Song. She decided to politely introduce herself “Nice to meet somepony who happens to know who I'm talking about. I'm Sundae Delight, ice cream parlor manager and owner” the unicorn bowed her head.

Shadow lifted an eyebrow “Teacher? You must be one of that guy's students” she mused.
