Pencil found the sketches to be quite fascinating. She wasn’t exactly sure how the wings were supposed to work, but she could probably guess based on the design alone. The most fascinating part was that Samurai wanted to use them to fly. Seeing them legitimately work on another pony would be pretty neat.

“These are actually really cool! I think you should consider building these, that would be so awesome if they worked!” Pencil exclaimed.

Her demeanor soon changed upon hearing why Samurai wanted to fly. Hoping to lift his spirits a little, she replied,

“I don’t think that’s weird. My sister’s a pegasus, so I understand wanting to fly sometimes. Just being able to glide through the air sounds really nice,” she said.

Pencil thought a moment, wondering if there were any other ways for Samurai to fly. Once he built the wings, he would be all set, but for now it wouldn’t be bad to have another option. Suddenly, Pencil formulated an idea.

“Hey, I bet Astral has some kinda flight spell for you if you wanna fly before you build the wings! I’m sure if you ask him he’d have something for you,” she exclaimed.

"HAH! EASE UP BUBBA! I have no reason to break your back and make you humble... unless you hurt my filly."

Incredibly, he downed the sake and tossed the bottle, adding it to the list of things stacked on Trilby. Poor guy.

"She spoke of you in fondness, and in my old age I know a crush when I see one! Especially for little Pastel! She's a journeypony just like Shoal in his glory days! HAHAHA!"

"Grandpaaaa...!"

"MY FILLY! BRING US PIZZA!"

"You got it, gramps!"

Pastel instantly forgot about the dialogue and rushed over to get pizza for all three, leaving Iron Shoal and Dynamo alone for a bit.

"My filly likes you a lot, bubba. Shoal is fine with that, innocent enough; and if she fancies you, you must be the real. But if you hurt her or break her heart, I promise I will break your back. Iron Shoal has been collecting on his promises for 40 years..."

He had a serious, threatening tone, but it was all for Pastels safety and growth. He didn't know Dynamo from a hole in the head, and though he disapproved of his meekness, he wanted to trust his granddaughters judgement while also keeping her from potential landmines.

...He was also probably by now feeling the effects of the alcohol and being a bit more dramatic than necessary. It runs jn the family. The drama part, not the alcohol... for now.

The gamer pony could only tilt his head as he was confused by what Iron had meant. "Well, I guess that's reassuring. I wouldn't hurt Pastel because she's been really kind to me ever since I met her. Along with the other friends that I've met ever since arriving in this town." He was surprised as Iron told Dynamo of Pastel's fondness of him. He didn't think he was that good of an influence or had done much. He still wasn't sure on the whole idea of Pastel's crush on him. "A journeypony, huh? I'm guessing that's a sort of pony that travels around Equestria and sees what's out there? Sort of like a traveling salespony." He wasn't sure if that's what her grandfather had meant, but he ignored it as Pastel had left. Effectively leaving Dynamo and Iron to have a serious chat. He gulped in fear of Iron's warning, but he was never the type of pony to break a promise. "I'm glad that you're okay with that, but I guess I'm just still worried. Maybe it's me overthinking things, but I still don't doubt your word. I can promise that I will never Pastel as she and the others mean a lot to me."

Pencil found it quite odd that Iron Shoal considered Pastel and Dynamo a couple, especially considering their age difference. In defense of the two, Pencil spoke up and said,

“S-Sir, uh, y-your daughter—ahem—your daughter and Dynamo aren’t dating. They’re just friends. Dynamo’s more like a guardian anyways since Pastel’s just a kid. Somepony’s gotta keep an eye on the troublemaker, heh!”

She hoped at least some of that was helpful. For the most part she felt super stupid and dorky for talking but she couldn’t stand all the discomfort in the room. Somepony had to say something!

Dynamo turned his attention over to Pencil, while giving her a thankful look in his eyes. He figured later he would have a discussion with the others to see what they thought. He was unsure with so much happening, but he hoped to gain their opinions on the matter.

Samurai fights the urge to laugh at what he just saw. Watching his step, he walks in and whispers something to Dynamo. "Jabroni means imbecile. Meet up with me in the lab when you get a chance." Samurai walks away from the two of them for now.

He gives Pencil a wave. "Still want to see my drawings?" He asks, motioning her to follow him.

He also goes over to Astral. "Let's talk about the puzzle box and the book." Samurai says, motioning Astral to follow him as well.

Of course, everyone is welcome to follow him, but he thought I'd personally invite the ones who were most interested. Samurai leaves the party room, and heads into a more private room. His personal lab.

In this room, Samurai has kept detailed records, pictures, and documents of the Laronde Box. Everytime he has made some progress with it, gotten closer to unlocking it, or unlocked a town event; it's all recorded. Some documents have red strings connecting them, as if Samurai is trying to find any patterns or clues. There is also stuff that Samurai has drawn. Most of it is in Ukiyo-e style, but some of it is in Anime style. Pictures of home, Mistmane, his culture... Interestingly, there is a set of unfinished blueprints for mechanical wings, and a drawing of various creatures and shadowy silhouettes attaching it to Samurai's suit of armor. Samurai looks very happy in this drawing.

He glanced over to Samurai and the others, who were in the other room in the asian pony's lab. He was right near the room, so Dynamo had thought it was fine leaning his head in the room. Effectively allowing him to be a part of the conversation. "I know I want to still see the drawings as I have to show my drawings too." At the mention of the puzzle box and book, Dynamo's eyes widened in curiosity. "I hope I can join in on the conversation too. After what happened with Astral earlier, it makes me curious on what significance those pages have." He would say, looking over to see the pictures Samurai had drawn. Some he didn't really understand the style on, but some looked to be in the style of anime. Dynamo had to admit that these drawings were pretty well made. "I'm not the best when it comes to drawing, but these looks incredible. You've got a real knack for this kind of thing, Sam." He stopped as his eyes trailed over to a picture of Mistmane. He smiled softly as he was glad to know he had a sort of ancestor-like link to Mistmane's home. He even took notice of blueprints for wings and a suit of armor. Which made the gamer pony curious as to what this all was.

Astral nodded and slowly followed Samurai to a room hidden. Looking around at the walls and informational notes posted, Astral could tell that Samurai had gone really in depth with his research, which only made the data he could provide all the more invaluable.

"Alright, Samurai. This latest page I found doesn't reveal much, though it is still interesting. Apparently, Final Premonition used to be a close friend of the two mayors before their friendship dissolved. As you said before, the Laronde Box is said to be the key to bringing the two mayors back together, but it got me thinking. What mention of this box is there BEFORE the mayor's divide? And furthermore, why is the box even locked to begin with? Is it possible that this artifact is hiding something more sinister beneath its surface? To me at least, it just seems a little weird that an artifact would be the solution to something it was never involved with, unless it wasn't mentioned for a reason?"

@Astral Vision, @Dynamo Pad

Samurai listens to what Astral is saying. "The Laronde Box doesn't seem that old to me..." He pulls it out. "But I did get to talk to Mayor Black today! While you and everypony else were busy with the race, he asked to see me. He's a very temperamental mayor. The only time he actually seemed nice was when he was talking about the race. He said he remembered kart racing as a kid, and watching the town's race really made him happy." Samurai explains.

Samurai toys with the box, but can't seem to many any progress with it right now. "It's strange. It's almost as if this thing knows when to give us a clue, and when not to. Even now, it feels like it's cooling down from the last event we just finished."

The blue unicorn raised an eyebrow, while gaining a quizzical expression. "So, this Final Premonition fellow is somehow linked between the two mayors of this town? I wonder what kind of role Final had played? I could guess that they were friends, but maybe something happened. Thus, the two mayors had fallen apart and their friendship fell through." He listened intently as Samurai and Astral had their debate on the matter. "I guess Mayor Black can seem like a difficult pony to talk to or see reason with, but I'm glad he was able to find happiness out of the race. It must have been pretty nostalgic for him. Although, I can see why there might be something sinister involved with the box. Maybe something happened to Final Premonition that was the cause of the box. Thus, it's been locked ever since? I'm not entirely sure, but there has to be a reason to why the box is locked and/or connected to the town." He says, taking notice of all the red string connections on the wall.

Samurai then sees the drawing he made of mechanical wings, as well as the half-finished blueprints, and pulls them off his art wall. "Except these... These aren't quite finished. You'd probably think it's silly anyways..." Samurai rubs the back of his head and gives a nervous smile, a little embarrassed.

Pencil eyed all of Samurai’s work, studying it intently. The detail in the mechanical wings was mesmerizing and the blueprints were quite intriguing with what they had on them. Pencil was hoping to see more, but Samurai quickly put the rest of his scraps away, embarrassed by them.

“Don’t be embarrassed! Pencil told Samurai. Your sketches can’t be as bad as mine! They all lack proper proportions and angling and all that. I won’t judge your sketches, promise!”

She winked confidently, hoping Samurai would feel more comfortable sharing the rest of his work. Even if he didn’t, hopefully he would at least feel less embarrassed.

Upon hearing Samurai bringing up the mention of the wings, Dynamo shook his head with a smile. "You shouldn't say that. I actually think these wings look pretty cool, in my opinion. Also, I can vouch for Pencil. I've had my share of drawings and they aren't the best. However, I can relate to you both. I sometimes put a lot of practice into a game, but then I either forget something or make a careless mistake. I easily become embarrassed because I don't think I should make critical errors like that, but that's all a part of learning and improving. It's even helped me to see things that I may not have noticed before when making a decision throughout a match." He would say, hoping to give his two cents on the conversation.

Samurai is usually reluctant to share this level of privacy with others. But, these are his friends now, and how can he say no to somepony so nice? He eases up and shares the prints and the picture of the mechanical wings. "Well, I hope you won't laugh at me, but... Secretly, I've always been envious of Alicorns and Pegasi because they can fly like birds. I've always wanted to be able to fly into the blue heaven, but I'm a unicorn, so I'm pretty much stuck on the ground..." Samurai shows Pencil the drawing most of all. "I'm not very good with designing machines. I tried to make mechanical wings myself, but I just can't seem to figure out a working set of wings I can attach to my armor. I guess in my fantasies, I thought that maybe if I made friends with various ponies and species from all walks of life, they might be able to help me make the wings I dream of." Samurai explains.

Once he heard Samurai's explanation, Dynamo was surprised. The asian pony seemed to be reserved and knowledgeable, but he never took Samurai to be jealous. Even so, he gave the unicorn an understanding nod. "You won't have to worry about that, Sam. That's something I would never laugh at. To be honest, I think it would be pretty cool to be able to fly without wings. I'm not the best when it comes to heights, but I've always still wanted to try and fly." Dynamo took note of the blueprints that Samurai had created. "Hmm...is there a sort of way to add magic into the wings? Maybe something as a sort of fuel to power even a propeller. I guess it would be different as a propeller spins in a fixed rotation speed. Whereas wings have that flapping rhythm to either stay afloat, moving forward, not going too fast or too high and to navigate." He placed a hoof upon his chin as Samurai's plan sounded interesting and incredible in theory.

It's more about moving your whole body through the air with magic, but it's possible. The only problem is that it uses so much magic. So, you'd only be able to stay afloat for a certain amount of time. Granted, it's all based on the unicorn's talent or magic capacity." He would say, taking the hoof from his chin to run it through his mane. Blushing slightly/shyly as he looked off to the side. "Let's just say...I've always wanted to use that kind of spell to fly too. That, and I've met a friend who's made that spell possible. So, flying as a unicorn isn't that farfetched as one would imagine." He explained, turning back to the others. "Speaking of drawings, does anyone have any paper I can borrow. I hope I can show you the drawings I used to make back then. If that's okay, that is."

Iron Shoal didn't seem too happy about Pencil butting in, he momentarily, dismissively turned his head towards her and shouted loud enough to blow a pony away.

"THOSE INTERFERING IN MATTERS OF THE HEART ARE THE JABRONI OF THE EARTH!"

...Needless to say her words had no effect.

@Dynamo Pad

It was difficult to read Shoals expression, especially with the mustache blocking what would otherwise be a smile or a frown. He wanted until Dynamo finished before laughing and roughly ruffling his mane.

"HAHA! I LIKE YOU BUBBA, YOU ARE THE REAL! I have a good lie detector, Shoal senses you might say! If my filly likes you and you are the real I have no complaints! Maybe I even teach you the camel clutch eh!?"

Pastel trotted back with a plate carrying three pieces of pizza.

"Uhhh is everything okay?"

"PERFECT, MY FILLY! GIVE ME THE EQUESTRIAN CUISINE!"

He reached his hoof for a slice but ended up falling to the side. Seems the binge drinking caught up with him.

"Nyahaha~! I think you had enough, grandpa!"

She dropped the piece on the floor next to Shoals face, which he was now eating like a carrot still lying on the ground.

"Mmm... ¥$*! that jabroni Colt Trogan... Giant jabroni ^#*$(*@*@... I break his neck... Buy my book..."

Seems like he was out for now. Pastel giggled and looked to Dynamo.

"He's always like that, don't worry! Did you wanna go do something Dyny? Take your pizza! I'll see if Pencil wants some maybe!"

"You could try it with mist at least..." Thundy pursuaded.

"Ugh...fine...but you;'re paying my hospital bill if I get injured." Chelsea said as she and Thundy gripped talons. The two gathered their respective ability. Sparks started to appear around then as a blue and yellow aura formed. The energy grew until the two disappeared with a poof.

In a place far away...where ponies had gathered...some sort of energy could be felt. This was no ordinary energy. Sparks of electricity crackled and there was a low hum that increased in pitch until...POOF!

Two griffons, one larger than the other appeared in the middle of the sparks as they disappeared. They didn't seem to be pure griffons, as one had ears that looked exactly like a pony...but the other's ears were slightly taller, almost like a batpony's. The two griffons still were holding on to each other's talon with their eyes closed. They soon opened their eyes and looked around. "Haah, well it worked." Thundy said. Trilby nods. "I'm fine. Positive. I've taken falls like that before, trust me." Trilby gives a laugh. "Hay! Since I have this karaoke machine, should we set it up and give it a try? I didn't get to perform at that concert event a few days back, but we're not in front of the entire town now, so it'd be much more fun and simple this way."

Beryl was skeptical but let it slide, she knew she couldn't do anything yet. Her concern was still blatantly obvious in her facial expression. "Sur."

Beryl watched Keen's movements. It was hard to note if she was suspicious of the mare or not.

@Kronos the Revenant

The Origami Shinobi flinches, waving its paper hoof. "No fight. Not tonight." It takes a step back and explains itself. "In 3 days, there will be a war. My master will come to conquer this place. If you wish to survive, betray the Samurai, and swear loyalty to us. Those who refuse will be shown no mercy. Choose carefully." He begins to back up. "3 days. War." He reiterates before turning into a flock of origami cranes and flying away into the night sky.

@Pastel Heart

Samurai could not ignore the loud thud of Iron Shoal falling like that. He pops his head into the party room, then claps his hoof. His kurokos bring out a blanket for him. "I doubt he needs it, but just in case." Samurai says, ever thoughtful. He even waves at Pastel to join the group in the lab.

@Dynamo Pad, @ExplosionMare, @Astral Vision

"I don't think the Laronde Box is malicious... I guess I could be wrong, but it's the best clue we have to reuniting the two mayors. Why would Final waste our time like that if this box is dangerous?" Samurai speculates out loud.

He also sees Dynamo is interested in his art, but he also notices which drawing he looks at the most. He's brought her up many times. With a smirk, he signs the drawing of Mistmane with a calligraphy brush, and gives it to Dynamo as a gift. "Keep it."

Still, he listens to Pencil and Dynamo talk about adding magic to make the wings work. "Like I said, these blueprints aren't finished. I'm not really an aviation expert. Even if I were to build these wings, they wouldn't do much... Most synthetic wings are usually prosthetics, built on the root of a Pegsus' wing. Hardly anypony's tried to make a fully mechanical set of wings like this, and I don't know how to design all the mechanical elements it needs. Plus... I'm not sure I trust magic for this. Replicating flight with magic is really hard, even for magically advanced ponies like myself. I can use my fire magic to make myself airborne, but if I do that, I'll wear out my magic reserves really fast, and make myself tired doing so. I can only mimic flight in short bursts. Maybe if there was a magic item, I could use that. But what kind of item should I be looking for?" Samurai really has thought long and hard about this, but like he said, aviation isn't his area of expertise. Thus, that's why he fantasized about getting help from those who are.

@Windy Breeze 🥧, @CameoShadowness, @C. Thunder Dash

"Thank you! I could use the help." Trilby is glad Keen is helping him put get this karaoke machine set up; he could use the extra set of hooves. "Let's see... It all ready has a screen on it, so we don't need to hook it up to anything... Battery is in place. Where is the microphone?" Trilby says to himself as he sets it up. But it's fine. Keen figures out the rest of it, even finding the mic. By the time they turn it on, Trilby sees that it is automatically set to Japonese songs. Trilby blinks. "Heh... I'm sure there is an English option. And once I find it, I'm going first!" Trilby explains, messing with the language settings.

About that time, a set of griffon half breeds magically appear in the party room, shocking or frightening just about everyone there. Trilby's eyes go wide, but he is so shocked that he doesn't even budge. "...On second thought, they go first." Trilby says, talking about the new visitors.

Sensing and hearing magic, Samurai leaps out of the lab and sees their new guests. "...This town is becoming a magnet for new arrivals." He says to himself before bowing before the two of them. "Ano~ Hello! Welcome to the town of Friendshire. And also, welcome to my house. I'm Samurai Equine."

@Samurai Equine

Keen blinked at the japanese letters. She was able to understand the songs since she had a nightmare within her. She wasn't surprise since Samurai isn't certainly 'born' in this town or probably because it's obvious he has different culture apart from the other locals, including her target, Trilby Hatter.

She was about to read one of the music titles when she felt something.

A teleportation spell she thought but this isn't cast by a unicorn.(Starting today, Every speech and thoughts of Nightmare Moon are now violet) she could hear humming from somehow. She quickly let go of Keen just in time for two griffons to appear in a flash. Keen blinked and glanced behind her.

But Shadow wasn't aware of the new arrivals. She jumped in surprise to see a bright flash, blinding for her for a seconds. She saw two griffons standing in the room.

@C. Thunder Dash

And since Shadow didn't know griffons, she shouted something that could offend the griffon race.

“Oh Luna, are those overgrown birds!?” she jumped and hover in the air, pointing a hoof at the two arrivals.

Dynamo looked at Iron's with a confused, yet curious expression. With the mustache, the gamer pony couldn't tell if her grandfather was smiling or frowning. It didn't help that his eyes looked to be judging him, in a way. He closed an eye as he felt his mane being ruffled by Iron. He sighed in relief as it seemed that he wasn't in any trouble for the time being. "T-Thanks and I guess that's a good thing. From the way you said lie detector, it seems you have a good judge of character, Mr. Shoal. I might take you up on that offer of the camel clutch. Whatever that is, anyway." He shrugged his shoulders as he only knew so much of Iron by what Pastel had mentioned before. Speaking of Pastel, the gamer pony smiled as he saw that his friend had made her return.

Dynamo's jaw fell slightly as the stallion had taken a sudden fall. He blinked and wanted to ask if Iron was okay, but it seemed that he was okay for moment. He blushed slightly as he had heard Iron say some things, before it looked as if he had fallen asleep. "Good to know that he's always like that. I have a tendency to say such things like that, but I try and become reserved. That, or I guess respectful is the right way of putting it?" He chuckled, smiling at the offered slice of pizza. "Thank you, Pastel-chan. I know at the moment, the others and I were looking through Sam's lab. You can join us, if you'd like. I'm seeing if there's any kind of paper for me to try out some drawings."

@Astral Vision @ExplosionMare @Samurai Equine @C. Thunder Dash

"I just wish we knew more about what this Laronde Box is all about. Maybe Final had tried to work on the box, but something happened that had him fail. Which would mean that the quest of the box, the town and the mayors is now in your hooves?" Dynamo would ask with a shrug of his shoulders. However, he soon gave a smile and a reassuring nod. "Whatever the reason, I know that you'll be able to figure it out, Sam. I'm still with you on this and got your back, of course. I am curious as to how you obtained the box in the first place. Did it show up out of nowhere, or did you receive it from someone in town?"

The blue unicorn blinked in surprise as the drawing Mistmane was levitated over towards him. He looked to Samurai as he took note of the smirk, before looking back down at the drawing. "A-Are you sure? I mean, this is your drawing and I know it must be important to you." He did want to argue back, but he had a feeling that the asian pony would be adamant in his choice. With a shake of his head, while having a small smile, the gamer pony could only give Samurai a thankful/grateful look. "Thank you and I promise I'll always treasure this picture." He would say, nodding as the asian pony the idea of the blueprints. "I still think these blueprints are pretty interesting. It shows that you have an interest in wanting to fly, or something along those lines. Magic is definitely a difficult subject in terms of flight. I think there's also a spell that can give wings, but I'm not entirely sure if that's accurate. Just like you said, I'm not even sure if my elemental magic could work with flight either." He says, pondering on the Samurai's question on the item to help with flight. "Hmm...maybe some kind of saddlebag that can support flight? I'm not sure if there's a magic item, but it's definitely worth looking into." He was about to continue, but stopped as he heard a poof sound coming from the party room. Dynamo jumped slightly as he peered back into the room. He was greeted by the sight of two griffons, but they didn't seem like actual griffons based on their pony-like ears. He wanted to go and say hi, but he decided to wait for them to talk to the group. Given that they had appeared out of thin air, as well as he had never seen them in town before.

@Pastel Heart

@Dynamo Pad, @ExplosionMare, @Astral Vision

Astral pondered on Samurai's desire for flight, the feeling of freedom through the air was the dream of many creatures. He observed the blueprints for mechanical wings, their design was sturdy though also heavy, it may be impossible to get them off the ground...

"Well Samurai, even if you're not an expert on the laws of aviation, there are alternatives for flight capability in non-pegasi ponies. As Pencil mentioned, I could help you fly for a bit; I can use the same spell I saved our kart with at the race, as draining as it may be. If you want, we could work something out for tomorrow?"

@C. Thunder Dash

Suddenly, Astral sensed a large burst of magical energy, hearing what sounded like confusion back in the main room. As the unicorn peaked his head out of the secret enclosure, he spotted two new creatures had arrived, and they appeared to be griffons.

"That's one way to crash the party, I guess I'm not the only teleporting creature in town."

The blue unicorn analyzed the two griffons carefully; while at first they seemed normal at first, they appeared to have ear features of ponies. To add to the confusion, they seemed to be capable of magic, which was a near-impossibility for griffons. Astral saw Samurai leave to make the two feel welcome, so he decided to tag along as well.

"And I'm Astral, a friend of Samurai's. How do you do?"

The two griffons looked up to see all the ponies looking right at them. "Well, that's one way to turn heads..." Thundy said as he shook himself off as a few sparks loose sparks crackled.

"I'm Thundy." Thundy stated.

"And I'm Chelsea." Chelsea stated waving her talon.

"Yes we both have abilities, which is why we're not really normal griffons. We come from very hard fledgelinghoods...and just needed to relocate to a place where we could just simply...breathe and be ourselves." Thundy said.

Chelsea on the other hand began to sniffle a little, as the memories of her fliedgelinghood started to flood her mind of that fateful day when both her parents died in that shipwreck, all because of one guard's prejudice against griffons that nearly started a war.

Dynamo's ears perked as he heard Astral's remark on the matter of flight. He turned towards the unicorn and smiled. "I hope I can try and join in on the lesson. If that's okay, that is, Astral. I'm not the best when it comes to fear of heights, but I've always wondered what it would be like to fly. If it's too advance, then I wouldn't mind wanting to try some more of what my gaming magic could be like." He would say, remembering the spell he and Pencil used to make their kart in the race to fly. He turned back to the two griffon hybrids that had appeared in the middle of the party room. He blinked a couple of times as he saw a few sparks being emitted from the teleportation. He was amazing, yet surprised that the two griffons had used teleportation. At least, that's what he wanted to believe. He was still new to the concept of spells. So, he wasn't entirely sure what had just happened. He followed Astral over towards where Samurai was standing as everyone began introductions.

"So, your names are Thundy and Chelsea? It's nice to meet you both. My name is Dynamo Pad, but you can call me Dynamo. What kind of abilities do you have, if you don't mind me asking." He asks, nodding slightly as he could understand the reason to relocate. His ears perked once more as he thought he had heard the sound of sniffling. He looked over towards the one named Chelsea, who seemed to be upset about something. "H-Hey. Is everything okay? Did you perhaps...want to talk about what's on your mind?" He didn't know what was wrong, but he wanted to try and be a good friend and be there for those that needed a friend.

Out of nowhere, a couple of surprisingly magical griffons appeared in the center of the room. Pencil was taken aback, but also very intrigued all at once. She was so enthralled by their entrance that she did not hesitate to introduce herself.

“Hello. My name’s Pencil Pouch! That was really cool what you guys just did!” Pencil exclaimed. She paused a moment to get their names, then added, “Those are pretty names!”

@Dynamo Pad

Pencil was about to say more, but one of the griffons began sobbing. She felt bad and wanted to help but saw that Dynamo had stepped up to take care of it. Pencil decided to stay out of it and let him handle it, confident that he would be able to help the griffon.

It seems like Iron Shoal was now out like a light, rolled on his back, large belly in the air. It was quite a sight, Pastel could use him as a trampoline if she wanted. Ever read Hop On Pop? Nevermind. The blanket may barely fit him but it was a nice thought.

@Dynamo Pad @ExplosionMare @Astral Vision

Pastel giggled and followed Dynamo into the lab. She wasn't sure what was going on as she hasn't been in on the conversation until now, she just looked around and looked for trouble to get into. Hopefully Sami didn't leave anything breakable around.

"Ooohh, what's Dyny gonna draw? A sketch of me, maybe? Paint me like one of your french mares!"

She tried a flashy pose, similar to one Rarity might do.

@C. Thunder Dash

At this point, new friends suddenly appearing wasn't surprising at all! She waved at the griffons from Dynamo's side and smiled.

"Hi hi! You appeared outta like, thin air! Are you wizards? I'm Pastel Heart, adventurer extraordinaire! Teach me your secrets!"

She leaned forward eagerly. This earth filly had a better chance of learning how to turn inside out, probably.

Thundy hugged Chelsea close. He knew that if he gave any hints about having a hard life, the memories of Chelsea's heartbreaking past would surface. "Shhh, please don't cry Chelsea...I'm right here." Thundy said comfortingly. By now, tears had welled up in Chelsea's eyes. "It's...it's hard..." She said letting a few sobs loose. Thundy sighed and looked up at those who were looking on at the unfolding scene. "Chelsea could really use some more friends and support. I'd let her tell you the story, but it's just so hard for her to do so." Thundy said to everyone who had crowded around them.

When he saw the Origami Shinobi disappear, he simply looked on in disbelief and despair.

War? he thought to himself, In three days time? Damn it. I need to tell Samurai of this. He needs to be notified.

Kronos rushes back to Samurai’s house trying to warn him.

“SAMURAI!!!” he yells, “Where’s Samurai?? I need to tell him something!!”

Kronos begins rapidly moving his eyes scanning the room and muttering to himself, “Three days. War. Three days. No survivors. Three days. Danger. Three days...”

It's getting super late. The sky is black by this point. Most ponies would be in bed by now, and most shops are all ready closed. Anyone that is still up probably has a night shift, and is probably helping to turn this town back to normal. By morning, the race track and everything else will be gone. The town will look like it normally does every regular day.

@Pastel Heart

If Pastel looks closely at the art wall in Samurai's lab, there are also some unfinished pictures he has begun drawing. And yes, there are a few images of his friends. Dynamo in the arcade. Astral reading a book. And there's one Pastel, based on her musical performance at the town concert that one time. Mostly, these images a few others are just rough sketches right now.

@Dynamo Pad, @Astral Vision

"The Puzzle Box was passed down from place to place across Equestria in hopes that somepony would be interested enough to come to Friendshire and solve it. When it arrived in Japon, the shogun asked me to take the responsibility, and I accepted." Samurai explains. He all ready told Astral the story, so he was sure Astral could fill him on the other details. Speaking of... "Oh, I wouldn't want you to use your personal magic reserves for that, my friend. I appreciate it, but that just means you'd be wearing yourself out instead of me. I don't want to trade my own energy and stamina for someone else's. I'm a defender. If I can't keep others safe from harm, then what other purpose do I have? I'm sure eventually, I'll find someone who can help me figure this flight stuff out." That's all Samurai manages to explain before the new guests arrive.

@C. Thunder Dash

"Ah, Thundy, Chelsea, pleasure to meet you. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. Let's get along." Samurai says, welcoming them. Although he does have a little bit of a problem saying Thundy's name correctly. It almost sounds like he is saying 'Sundy'. Curse these language barriers~! Samurai was expecting a happy meeting, but soon Chelsea is bringing up memories that are obviously upsetting her. "Ah... Ah..." Samurai looks around, not sure what to do. "Please, do not cry!" He waves his hooves. "Freindshire is not a perfect place, but you can find plenty of friends here. And you can reinvent yourself here too! The citizens of this town are lost and directionless, and we could always use more talented people to lead different parts of the town. Dyanmo Pad here came in and took over the Arcade, and no pony stopped him. I'm the town's military general and guardian, and the citizens were happy that I took over that job! Whatever you want in life, however you want to reinvent yourself, I know that it's right here. Perhaps magic brought you here because the town needs you more than you need it." Samurai explains.

@Windy Breeze 🥧, @CameoShadowness

Trilby begins to calm down. In fact, he yawns. "Well, this is a relief. I am glad they aren't evil invaders at least. I wonder what time it is..." Trilby pulls up his jacket sleeve and reveals a watch. "1:44 AM?! Wow, no wonder I'm starting to feel tired..." He turns to his friends. "Shadow, I think we should plan that second date tomorrow, provided I don't get too busy. And Keen, I'm sorry that we're just meeting tonight. I hardly got to know you. Maybe we can find more time to talk tomorrow? Any friend of Shadow's is a friend of mine. Also, Beryl, would you like to sleep over at my house just for tonight until we can find you a proper place to live? Since you're a Breezie, I am sure I can fashion a bed in your size. Best of all, the library will be open properly, so you'll be able to get a job there easily." Despite being a little tired, Trilby still takes time to be interested in all of their lives.

@Kronos the Revenant

Just as things are starting to calm down, Samurai hears Kronos rush in. However, as soon as he says 'War' the first time, Samurai quickly moves in close and puts a hoof to his lips. "Shhh~!" Samurai looks around. "Heh. Nothing to see here, everyone!" Samurai leans in and whispers something to Kronos. "I won't let there be a war. I'll make preparations first thing tomorrow to prevent that from happening. For now, please, let's give our guests end this night on a happy note, especially for the new arrivals." Samurai points out the new griffon creatures that just magically appeared in his house.

Hoping that's enough to reassure Kronos, Samurai returns to Thundy and Chelsea.

@C. Thunder Dash, @Pastel Heart

"Excuse me, Thundy and Chelsea... It's getting very late. Normally I wouldn't do this, but would you like to stay here for the night? We can find you both a proper place to stay tomorrow. Unless my friends help me do something about Mr. Iron Shoal, I think I all ready have a guest that will be sleeping over tonight." Samurai says, pointing out Pastel's grandfather who is all ready asleep. "I tend to lead a very solitary life, but I guess having over-night guests wouldn't be too much of a bother, if it's just for one night. And if Mr. Iron Shoal is staying here for the night, likewise Pastel and Dynamo are welcome to stay as well. Hmm... What's the term? Sleep-over?" Samurai says.

Shadow beamed in response while Keen frowned in dismay. Just as she was about to utter an 'Aww man!' her body is once again hijacked. Keen's frowned became a smile.

“Oh, that's okay, but I should tell you I'm new here and I have no place to live in”

“That's okay, Keen” Shadow said “you can live with me in my apartment”

“Really? Oh, thank you so much, mfuasi wangu” Shadow lifted an eyebrow at the last two words 'Keen' spoke.

Hearing Samurai's explanation of the box was fascinating to the gamer pony. He never knew it traveled throughout Equestria in hopes of being found by someone to solve it. "It sounds like the Laronde Box has gone through a lot. It makes me wonder who originally had it first." He had thought that maybe it was this Final Premonition pony that was mentioned before, but he didn't want to assume without gaining more information. It seemed like Samurai hadn't told the full story, but he could understand that he'll learn more in due time. He was relieved that he wasn't alone in not knowing how to help their new friends, but he still wished he could help the two griffon hybrids. He nodded at the mention of taking over the business of the arcade, before his ears perked at the mention of it being late. He looked out at the front entrance windows to see that it was night time. "Oh, wow. I didn't know that much time had passed. I guess we were having a lot of fun at the party and lost track of time."

Upon hearing the mention of staying over, Dynamo smiled and nodded at the offer. "Thank you for the hospitality and I'll accept. I've never really been to a sleepover before, but it sounds like a lot of fun. Plus, I think Mr. Shoal will probably be asleep for the rest of the night. So, I don't think it would be the best idea to move him. Unless it's to a couch to make him more comfortable."

Trilby pulls up his jacket sleeve and reveals a watch.

Beryl stops mumbling but her intenea still glowed and she looks at Trilby and back at the griffons. She turns slowly back to Trilby and asked "watz a bed?" While breezies do have beds it was never called that. In fact they are called pads or roroantch which actually translates to stigma- the part of the flower they typically sleep on. "an how you mak it?" As far as she knew ponies couldn't make one but then again, she doesn't know ponies as well as she thought so maybe he can make a flower that she can rest in.

Thundy listened as Samurai mentioned something about a place to sleep. "That would be really nice. Could you take us there?" Thundy asked, as Chelsea gently wiped the tears from her eyes, looking at the blue stallion who was close to her.

Astral was saddened by the emotional display from the two griffons, it was clear they had been through a lot. At the mention of a sleepover, the blue unicorn grinned; it was late, and surely there was no harm in staying for a bit.

"Well, so long as there is room in your humble abode, I wouldn't mind sticking around for the night."

Pencil stifles a yawn upon hearing the mention of a sleepover.

“Y-yeah, I guess we’re all getting a bit tired. A sleepover sounds like a good idea,” she said over her sleepiness.

Pencil thought a moment and made a mental list of what she might need. She would of course need her essentials but she might also need her sketch pad. Being honest with herself, she knew she was very behind in her work since she didn’t draw much during the race. She would have to make up for it early in the morning.

“If you guys don’t mind, I need to go back to my house to get some things first. It’ll be quick, I just need a few toilet-trees and my sketch pad,” she told everypony.

Pastel didn't know how to deal with this. She hasn't been that sad in a long time, and then she didn't know how to deal with those emotions. When she saw her grandpa for the first time, he said something to her, and she hasn't been sad like that since... What did he say to her? Awkwardly, she looked up and said those exact words.

"Umm... You are blessed, bubba! You are Shoal class!"

She didn't know what that meant, exactly, she was just parroting her grandpas words. At the least it would lighten the mood.

Pastel approached the photos, looking at them with a smile. She remembered these times like they were yesterday... Wait, it was yesterday. Or might as well be

She giggled as she looked up at the sketch of her at the concert... Being an idol for real would be fun someday, she thought. Not yet though. Too much to see and do first! Speaking of. She jumped up and down between Samurai and Iron Shoal, bouncing off of him like a trampoline... to no reaction. He was out.

"Sleepover~! Sleepover~! Maybe I can bunk with Pencil!"

@Dynamo Pad

"Aw, too bad~ well, someday then! Draw me a weapon, something flashy and stylish!"

Chelsea tilted her head like a dog at what Pastel had just said. She didn't get whether Pastel was trying to help her for real or just be funny.

Thundy on the other hand listened as Pencil said she had to go get something from her house.
