What's with all the comments about Lavender Town?

I mean, seriously, the creepypasta isn't scary at all really, and the theme is just calming. (Sorry, I don't even find the original one creepy.)

I feel like I've stated this on here (other topics) a few times before, but the Redeads in Twilight Princess. I can't stand them. I dread going through that dungeon everytime.

You good sir are one tiny minority there. That theme gave most of us nightmares.

Those ones are creepy as well, but Wind Waker's are the worst in my opinion.

Playing Minecraft, mining in a dark cave all alone, when you hear that familiar zombie growl. I jump and panic manically everytime.

Creepiest moment in a non-scary game?

The first time I had a ghost encounter on Sims. I was 8 at the time and was playing the original Sims on computer, I killed off the original family that was in the house I placed my new family in. I heard the music play, and since it was night in the game and I was knowledgable about the ghost encounters in the game, I was a little creeped out. After a few sim days, the music would always play and I got so paranoid about it I shut the game off and ran to my room ._. I psyched myself out so much I didn't play the game for a week after that.

Tonight I've become the most dazzling precious treasure

I am treasured over all the earth

Just look at what he's done

How he's laying down his life

Take this life, oh most dazzling precious treasure

in the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, there is a girl named Ageitha whom you sell glowing bugs to. if you walk out of her house without selling all of your bugs to her she mutters, "I know you've got another bug on you!"

Endermen. Endermen all the way. Holy crap I have nightmares about those things. They're just pixels! They aren't scary! But no, even during the day I get jumpy about falling into a cave for fear of what I might find...the original Slenderman was fun. Endermen with their chilling static and terrifying screams...ugh...I started playing on peaceful like a wuss after the update.

Creepers just lost their position.

"I like feisty kids like you!" - Sailor, Pokemon R/B/Y

...Um, yeah. This part from Trials and Tribulations freaked me out a little as well. (skip to 4:08)

Well, there was a certain animation glitch involving The King in Fallout New Vegas...

But the main one?

LAVENDER TOWN.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. When I was a child and playing through the Shadow Temple in OoT.

The music was creepy, the atmosphere was scary, and those fucking wall-masters were bastards.

I had to go through that temple a lot, since I kept dying at the boss.

Just listen to that bone chilling music.

Witches in Left 4 Dead man. Knowing they are nearby is pretty creepy.

But I definitely gotta agree with 02 from Kirby. I've only ever played Kirby 64 of the games he's in but dat final boss is both epic and creepy. Every part of the 02 fight was some sort of symbolism for his never-ending hate and suffering.

The Shin Megami Tensei franchise has a generally creepy feeling as well though. Persona 3 and the coffins, man!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl

Normally not a scary game. After the first time being underground I didn't touch for like a week. You walk through a long series of tunnels and stuff, a few soldiers there, a few bandits appear too. Nothing scary. But at the end of that map the game throws this sh*t at you (watch out, could make you jump (or not)):

Someone's probably mentioned it already, but I'm gonna have to go with that creepy-ass cutscene from Twilight Princess:

This scene - which comes out of nowhere, makes zero sense, and is never talked about again - stands as a prime example as to why Japanese storytelling nuances just aren't my cup of tea.

After getting to this segment from Final Fantasy Tactics again

Riovanes Castle deserves a mention.

At first you think you are simply going on a mission to rescue your sister. Then things take a turn for the worst when two of the villains basically turn into Satan's generals and pretty much slaughters almost every single person in the castle. There are two instances of knights limping their way to warn Ramza and Alma about the monsters and probably has the bloodiest scene in any Final Fantasy game imo(haven't played any of the games after X). Also you fight one of the monsters in the castle in what is the hardest fight in the game(yes even harder than the final bosses and the secret boss in the Deep Dungeon)

Here's a sneak peek

In my opinion, the most scary moments in a non-scary videogame would have to be any and all encounters with the SAX in Metroid Prime for gba. It sees you, then absolutely murders you! It's terrifying!!!
