Does Twilight deserve to rule?

We all know by now that Twilight is the princess of friendship and is ruling Equestria. But episodes like Lesson Zero and Trivia Trot make me wonder. Is she really a good fit to rule Equestria
I know not everypony is perfect, but there's a difference between "not being perfect" and being crazy

What does everyone else think. Is Twilight a good leader or is she too crazy. Give me your thoughts

An even better question is "does Twilight even want to rule?". I mean, in the show, we never saw her show ambition to become a politician. Of course she took over because Celestia said so and she did not want to disappoint her.

Twilight as a ruling monarch may be good or may be bad, depending on whether others can manage to dampen her freakouts. I woudn't vote for her though. Celestia is not perfect (especially in her handling of various large threats), but she did manage to not destroy Equestria for 1000 years.

Whatever they have in Equestria is a third-world dictatorship country, so, of course, the nerd with no political experience does deserve to rule the country.

Twilight Sparkle is my favorite character of all-time but I think she was forced into a role she had no business being in.

I agree with you.

I had a similar thought last night: Twilight had no aspirations to rule Equestria and honestly? I don't think without Celestia guiding her to it that she ever would've gotten there. Twilight was happy as her student, growing her magic and living in a library. I think had she not been granted the role of princess, she would have made a good ambassador to promote friendship and harmony, but it could've been done without becoming royalty.

Especially after we get a fifth alicorn princess randomly being born? I'd love to have seen lore for that aside from a vague shoulder shrug from Celestia and Luna. I think she deserves it more than Flurry Heart, and I enjoyed her becoming an Alicorn, but the way Celestia just dipped at the end of season 9 never really made sense.

Maybe Twilight was not such a good leader. Opaline was such a shallow, one-dimension villain that, had she shown up in Friendship is Magic, she wouldn't have been worth a 2-part story. And yet she was supposed to be such a serious threat that she ended Twilight's reign? Really?

I’m surprised that the majority seem to think Twilight is not cut out for the job. I differ on this, Sure, Celestia groomed her for the position and she may never have become princess otherwise, but the whole point of learning and developing skills is to use them. It may be an easy road to just be a bookworm and forget about anything beyond her own hobbies, but I’m sure Celestia was thinking about the greater good. Clearly Twilight wanted nothing to do with making friends when she was first sent to Ponyville, but here Celestia saw a bigger picture and greater potential in her student. And now we see how Twilight’s making friends changed her into something bigger than herself. This is the fruition of Celestia’s wisdom and overall plan. She saw potential and developed it. You know the Shakespeare quote “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.” I think a little bit of all three apply here: Twilight was born with potential, Celestia guided her to achieve greatness, and in becoming a princess, Twilight had greatness thrust upon her.

I don’t think this should be a comparison of Twilight vs Celestia and Luna, but her potential as a suitable successor on her own merits. And I can’t think of any pony that would do much better. Twilight may have shown some signs of weakness over the course of her life and development, but that’s the learning process that makes her able to overcome obstacles; using what she’s learned. That’s the whole point of experience; learn, improve and move forward. Whenever she’s faced adversity she always found a way to overcome it ultimately, and that’s a sign of resourcefulness and adaptability perfectly suited for someone in a position of authority. Twilight has my vote, wholeheartedly.
