I'm not going to fly halfway around the world, to a foreign country with an oppressive government, just for a pony convention. I haven't even been to a convention in the United States.

I have been to China a few times, and I live close to it. I also looked into this, and while there are Chinese brony conventions, they're not quite like the American counterpart. 

I won't go into too much detail, but let's just say the fans are not quite the same.
