Not long ago, SUNSET DAY took place. To celebrate this occasion, we gather here to sing songs from Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks!

 

Introduction

Friendship Melody is a rhythm browser game. It was initially released in May 2023 during the Winter Wrap Up Event, and now it's time to have some fun again, with new songs to play!

Event Details

• Play the rhythm browser game available on MLP Forums, on PC or your mobile device.
  Gameplay Screenshot:
  

 

• The event will feature two new songs - "Welcome to the Show" and "Shine Like Rainbows."
  Play both songs at any difficulty, and submit your results in this topic, by attaching screenshots or photos of your screen in your reply.
  An example of a valid submission:
  

 

• Please ensure your screenshots/photos capture the following fragments:

1. Title of the song (at the top - submit both, "Welcome to the Show," and "Shine Like Rainbows")
2. Your Completion Rate (on the center - must be at least 10% to qualify)
3. Your UID (in the bottom right corner - you have to be logged in MLPF)
   
    These three need to be at least somewhat legible to be eligible for receiving the badge!

 

• After you submit valid screenshots/photos of your results from both songs, you'll receive the badge within 24 hours.
  • You don't have to submit both in the same post. You can submit one, then come back sometime later to submit the other one. The recent post will grant you the badge, if all your posts combined meet the criteria.
  • If you haven't received the badge after 24 hours, please make sure your posts qualify for the badge, and feel free to ask, if you're uncertain.

 

 

That's it for the badge. Other than that, you're more than welcome to have a chat and continue sharing your results just for fun.

Potentially Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to download the game?

A: No, it's playable inside MLP Forums. Just keep in mind, that the game will have to load assets, around 60MB or so. Refreshing the page will require the game to load assets again, and the process may vary. Typically files should be cached by your browser into your local storage to avoid having to reload them, but there are factors, that may affect this.

Q: What about "Winter Wrap Up" from the previous event?

A: That song remains untouched, so it will be available again, and it will be exactly the same as it was. However, while you're free to play it and share your results here, to qualify for the badge you have to play only the two new ones. "Winter Wrap Up" is not required for the badge.

Q: The game broke, what should I do?

A: Refresh the page, and if possible, please reply here to let me know what happened, so that I can look into it.

Q: What if the game gets stuck at loading resources?

A: If it gets stuck on "loading music" without displaying any in-game errors, close the game and try again a bit later. I've noticed, that if I start the game few times in a short period of time, the audio refuses to load, and it "fixes" itself after I wait a while. This only happens when the resources are loaded from MLPF servers, otherwise I never encountered that problem when the game was loading resources from my local storage.

Something was going weird on my end but I got it fixed and it works. PC may not be the best way for me to play. I'm having a really hard time on the keyboard. I'll have to keep trying.

It should work on PC, tablets, phones, and other devices, where you can install browsers. Probably could be run even on the fridge if it was "smart" enough lol.

What exactly doesn't work? Which internet browser do you use?

Personally it's much easier for me on the keyboard, but I'm a PC gamer for the most part, so ultimately it's up to preferences/experience, so feel free to jump between devices to see what works best for you.  

Remember you can reconfigure controls for the keyboard in options, perhaps changing keys might make it better for some players.

Oh of course, the first attempts are always the hardest, so if someone isn't doing too well at first, it's absolutely understandable, and don't let it discourage you!  With enough patience and practice, it should be getting only better over time!

Yeah, the difficulty is pretty high, especially for people, who aren't used to rhythm games. Perhaps in the future there will be some slower songs to choose from, or maybe I'll consider adding lower difficulties for existing songs. Either way, no pressure, the badge requires only 10%, which is easily achievable even by just randomly spamming buttons (I've checked that lol).

I just hope you can have some fun regardless. These types of games require practice, so it's totally understandable if it might seem impossible at first.

I barely Can't crack 90% on Shine Like Rainbows after trying for a little while, my obsession is gonna be getting that before the event is over, so it's a good thing that it's fun!

It's alright, no pressure. 

There are no leaderboards, so I ask everyone to take it easy and just try to have some fun regardless.  I do encourage to give it few tries once in a while, some practice can do wonders, even if it's just for beating your own score!  

 

I've been thinking of programming different games for different events, so that perhaps, everyone would eventually find something they'd enjoy, but though I really wish I could bring various science projects to all of you, my life doesn't really want to cooperate.  Would be so cool if such games were popping out regularly.
