Samurai was in his own world for the most part. Still, something just didn't feel right...

Thinking he's done well enough for the start, Moonlight slows down to save energy for any obstacles they may encounter. He's very close to Titanium, who now probably can see him clearly in the rearview mirror.  @Wizard

*Slipstream began to surge ahead, until he accidentally slammed into a tree headfirst knocking several leaves off it.*

[Starlight Glimmer 97]

As the race got underway, Starlight watched as everyone was going at their own pace. Some were running like the wind, some were going at their own pace, while others found some competition with one another. “The Running of the Leaves has been having a tremendous start. It looks like contestant number 76, Princess Lucky Fire and even number 28, Samurai, are both enjoying a nice stroll down the road. While running is notable part of the event, it honestly never hurts to go at your own pace and enjoy the scenery. Fall leaves are honestly beautiful this time of year.” Starlight sighed happily, leaning her head on her hooves as she leaned against the edge of the balloon basket. After a moment, she looked at others who were trying to catch up to the pack. “Numbers 73 and 32, Silverspark and Brightspark are trying to catch up. All the while knocking down a good amount of leaves as they pass. Let’s not forget some of the other notable numbers. Number 61, Anarchylight,  number 37, Slipstream, number 31, Silver Slate, number 40, Roswell, number 11, Scribbles and number 7, Tree Song. All of them are vying for the top spot and are trying to gain some ground to catch up with the others! Starlight exclaimed, keeping track of where everyone was, before he heard the sound of a gust of wind. 

Turning towards the front of the pack, Starlight’s jaw dropped at how fast Titanium was moving. “This is incredible! Contestant number 10, Titanium,has just about taken the lead and she just flew in out of nowhere. We can’t forget about Chatterbox, Even Vibrant was able to find his footing and is catching up to the leaders. Moonlight looks to be trying to catch up to Titanium, while also vying for the top spot. Even Silky and Shiny are trying to catch up to Vibrant as it seems both he and Silky have a sort of competitive rivalry in this race! That just goes to show that nopony is to be underestimated!” Starlight grinned with stars in her eyes. The unicorn was ecstatic as it looked like the race has truly heated up. “Hey, @Trixie! Are you seeing this?!” Starlight asked, turning back to her friend with an ecstatic grin.

*Encouraged by Silky, Shiny Silvermoon's leaps became two times faster. She gave her maximum to be in front of @Sir Hugsalot and she was so successful in her attempt that she was now near the lead of the race.*

"Hi, @Wizard Titanium! How have you been?" *She asked to the mare, now right next to her or almost. Her tone wasn't playful, it was sincere.*

Titanium feels herself slowing down, the aches and pains of pushing her body a little too hard, too early, is already starting to catch up with her. She can hear the footsteps and voices of the ponies behind her, catching up. She glances back and see's familiar faces, including Moonlight... If he catches up to her now, she'll never hear the end of it! He'll be all 'I told you so' and she'll look silly! It's too soon to slow down, to give up, she has to keep pushing!

I'm bringing up the rear of the group, not knocking down many leaves these past two times my player rolled. If this next time it isn't a high number, I might just pick up the pace a little. Hopefully that'll help knock some more leaves down.

Ever since entering the balloon with @Starlight Glimmer, the Great and Powerful Trixie had been stuffing her face with a bag full of cinnamon nuts as she watched everypony below participating in the event. Obnoxious crunching noises sounded out over the microphone as Starlight turned towards her for commentary.

“Hm?” Queried Trixie with a mouth full of her favourite snack, suddenly realising that she was supposed to have been helping Starlight with the commentary. "Oh!"

Swallowing with an audible gulp, Trixie levitated the bag of cinnamon nuts she had been holding in her field of magic out of the way as she cleared her throat. “It truly is a sight to behold, Starlight!” commented Trixie as she leaned over the edge of the balloon basket to gaze down at the ponies below. “Already we have started to see the leaves falling from the trees with the competitors spirits running high.”

“Trixie believes that we are in for a truly great and powerful race!” concluded Trixie before returning to her bag of cinnamon nuts.

"Why would I enjoy being ahead of you?! I have to turn my head to see you dancing and I'm afraid I might hit something in front of me that I won't see! Being in the lead is the worst! Aaaaaaaaaaaah!" *Shiny Silvermoon closed her eyes, ready for an impact that never came.*

[Silver Slate]

As Silver makes his way down the path, he hears yet another familiar voice. That voice belonged to his bestie, @Ice Princess Silky <3. He turned his head and waved to her, noticing a few other ponies that seemed to be running with her He wasn't sure if he had met any of them before, but he wouldn't get a chance to look for much longer. In the excitement of the moment, he tripped on a tree root that was sticking up in the middle of the path, sending him face first into the ground. Thankfully, a large pile of leaves was there to cushion his fall.

"Oww." He said in a muffled voice

As @Silverspark184 and her sibling, Brightspark, play in the leaves, their giggle and child-like chatter ascend into the wind with the swirls of leaves bristling against each other. @Lucky Fire was reflective, poetic but persistent!

@Shiny Silvermoon caught the contagious competitiveness of Vibrant Grove and Silky's energy as they dashed and Silky couldn't help but stop and go back to see @GeneralDirection who had fallen into some leave. "Oh!" She'd gasp. "Are you okay?" She'd smile and brush off some of the leaves with her wings. "Happened to us, too! But the leaves are pretty soft so it's nice to have your fall on such a gentle landing." Her eyes were bright as she was suddenly being spoken to by @Silverspark184 "So, you're the famous Silky!" Silky would turn to her and immediately see the resemblance to Silverspark "Looks like the trouble has been doubled! What is this?!" She picks her up. "Another Silverspark?!" She'd gasp and ruffle the hair playfully. 

Silky would suddenly blink once in surprise as the two love bird -- er ... love ponies @Rethajni and @Samurai Equine were gazing lovingly between each other as if under some moonlight tryst as their words and banter carried between them through the race.

Silky was momentarily captivated until the moment was shattered by the sudden CRASH into a tree that was @Lawyer Slip "OH MY GOSH, ARE YOU OKAY?!" She quickly rushed to his side to check up on him. Should he be okay, she would relax. Should he not, she would tend to his wounds with the tiny potion dangling around her neck.

Silky was amazed by so many things happening at once! Even seeing @Wizard be so playful with @Nitobit as they ran together despite Titanium having slowed down a little bit, she was still quite ahead! Silky wondered if she could catch up. The leaves were so colorful and she took look around. The year was coming to an end and there were so many friends and ponies with their own story, their own unique journey. All united together. She saw the mysterious pony @Usual Crypty but he had a very familiar essence. She said nothing because the entire moment felt so timeless. Even as @ComanderZhabikKlavik kept going, focused on his goal and nothing else, Silky could see something, as if time had suspended in that moment.

SUDDENLY ... a robotic laughter would detect the silliness of Sir's dance and it made Silky guffaw SO HARD she fell over, grabbing her sides from the pain.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!?!? ROBOT PONIES ARE ALSO RUNNING IN THIS RACE?!?!" Her eyes would twinkle with delight. Then she'd realise, "oh no! VIBRANT AND SHINY ARE FAR AHEAD!!! CAN'T HAVE THAT... COME ON, EVERYPONY!! LET'S BEAT THEM TO THE FINISH LINE!" And she would then get up, brush off some of the leaves and look towards everyone with a competitive nod to charge forward!

(also @ThePinkofPones you better meet up with Silky later to go get those injuries checked out. I hear @Wizard recently became a care mare so maybe she can also help).

SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE STILL AHEAD OF US ANYWAY?!" *Shiny Silvermoon yelled to @Ice Princess Silky <3, not understanding her logic at all and feeling slightly betrayed. Of course, her feeling of betrayal quickly faded away as she couldn't be mad at her sister for more than a few minutes.*

Samurai starts by walking, then gets fast, and faster, until he finally runs forward!

Like an anime opening sequence, the camera cuts and swoops around Samurai Equine as he begins to pick up speed, until he finally leaps into the air and strikes and epic action pose, where it freeze-frames before cutting to the next scene...

As Samurai runs, for a moment it looks like everything around him is still. He admires the falling trees like an anime character admiring falling cherry blossom petals. It is followed by a character card shot of Samurai showing a full-on shot, profile shot, and a head shot of his confident face. In the next shot, Samurai stops dead in his tracks to see the expanding track and the obstacles before him. However, he simply takes off his firefighter helmet and firefighter jacket before rushing forward.

In a collage of dynamic camera shots, we see the various other racers. Some are leading the race, some are catching up, and some are falling behind. However, what they don't see are the dangers they face. And so, Samurai stops once more to concentrate and harness his magic. "Henshin!" As quick as the count of 1-2-3, Samurai magically summons his red samurai armor, and he is instantly equipped. Samurai strikes a fighting pose before once more rushing forward!

RESCUE FIRE Itsu de mo kimi no soba ni iru yo

Once Samurai is able to catch up to other races, he does NOT use his speed to gain a better spot on the race. Instead, he uses it to rescue! He rolls in front of racers to save any helpless animals from being trampled so that he can guide them back into the wilderness safely. If Samurai sees any large branches, hidden rocks, or any other obstacles that races could trip on, he leaps in to get them out of the way. If a tree should fall, Samurai will be there to catch it and redirect it so that it won't fall on the race course nor any of the racers. And if a racer like @Slipstream should run into a tree or if Silver Slate (@GeneralDirection) should trip on a tree root, Samurai will run in to pick them back up and dust them off before dashing away to help yet another pony in need.

(Bakuchin Kanryou!) 🎵

Doing all this rescue and safeguarding has Samurai leaping back and fourth. And if he can prevent any pony from falling or any animal from getting hurt, then he will do so! And when racing pathway is clear of danger, or as clear as he can get it, Samurai runs back to last place and strikes the same fighting pose from earlier, showing that this is all the victory he needs. "Explosively Complete!"

Though as Samurai resumes his half of the race, it's possible most of this was all in his mind. But helping animals and saving racers whenever possible was very much real!

@Shiny Silvermoon caught the contagious competitiveness of Vibrant Grove and Silky's energy as they dashed and Silky couldn't help but stop and go back to see @GeneralDirection who had fallen into some leave. "Oh!" She'd gasp. "Are you okay?" She'd smile and brush off some of the leaves with her wings. "Happened to us, too! But the leaves are pretty soft so it's nice to have your fall on such a gentle landing." Her eyes were bright as she was suddenly being spoken to by @Silverspark184 "So, you're the famous Silky!" Silky would turn to her and immediately see the resemblance to Silverspark "Looks like the trouble has been doubled! What is this?!" She picks her up. "Another Silverspark?!" She'd gasp and ruffle the hair playfully. 

Silky would suddenly blink once in surprise as the two love bird -- er ... love ponies @Rethajni and @Samurai Equine were gazing lovingly between each other as if under some moonlight tryst as their words and banter carried between them through the race.

Silky was momentarily captivated until the moment was shattered by the sudden CRASH into a tree that was @Lawyer Slip "OH MY GOSH, ARE YOU OKAY?!" She quickly rushed to his side to check up on him. Should he be okay, she would relax. Should he not, she would tend to his wounds with the tiny potion dangling around her neck.

Silky was amazed by so many things happening at once! Even seeing @Wizard be so playful with @Nitobit as they ran together despite Titanium having slowed down a little bit, she was still quite ahead! Silky wondered if she could catch up. The leaves were so colorful and she took look around. The year was coming to an end and there were so many friends and ponies with their own story, their own unique journey. All united together. She saw the mysterious pony @Usual Crypty but he had a very familiar essence. She said nothing because the entire moment felt so timeless. Even as @ComanderZhabikKlavik kept going, focused on his goal and nothing else, Silky could see something, as if time had suspended in that moment.

SUDDENLY ... a robotic laughter would detect the silliness of Sir's dance and it made Silky guffaw SO HARD she fell over, grabbing her sides from the pain.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!?!? ROBOT PONIES ARE ALSO RUNNING IN THIS RACE?!?!" Her eyes would twinkle with delight. Then she'd realise, "oh no! VIBRANT AND SHINY ARE FAR AHEAD!!! CAN'T HAVE THAT... COME ON, EVERYPONY!! LET'S BEAT THEM TO THE FINISH LINE!" And she would then get up, brush off some of the leaves and look towards everyone with a competitive nod to charge forward!

(also @ThePinkofPones you better meet up with Silky later to go get those injuries checked out. I hear @Wizard recently became a care mare so maybe she can also help).

Samurai is no longer walking. He is jogging, but with no desire to win or get very far, only to help
