I've read some shipping/romance/clop fanfics and enjoyed them.  Sometimes I have to stop and shake my head a little because people really will do ANYTHING with ponies, but it's mostly it's all good fun.  I never really think the word lesbian anymore.  The reason female characters are paired up so often is because the focus is mainly on female characters in the show.  Personally, I really like the idea of Rainbow Dash liking Fluttershy.

I love you.

The problem with lesbian pairings is that all of these characters are either confirmed straight (Rarity, Spike, Big Mac, Cheerilee, the Cakes, etc), or their sexuality hasn't been explored yet, which leaves a huge possibility for the pairing to get Jossed.

On top of that, homosexual characters are very rarely done well. When a writer is more concerned with making a gay character than they are with making a good character, then it just comes off as a forced attempt to be "edgy" or "relevant".

Take, for instance, Cortez from Mass Effect 3. BioWare really only wrote him in with the intent to have him say the word "husband" as soon as possible. His personality was not well developed, and his backstory was highly unoriginal. And that's not even getting into how they took Kaiden (a previously straight character), and suddenly turned him bi for little to no reason.

Obviously, there are exceptions (the sweet filly in my sig being a very notable one), but it's still far more common for a gay character to be written simply for the sake of having one, rather than out of actual artistic vision.

If you're a shipping writer, and you feel you can avoid both of these taboos, then I say go for it. But please remember that you need to stay true to the characters you are portraying, and that you should always make character traits feel natural.

I am not too much into shipping in general at least not with all the debates/wars over it but yes I like lesbian shippings because well

All joking aside though I will admit that there are some pairings lesbian and the occasional heterosexual ones that actually are kind of cute.

I don't mind any kind of shipping. By the way, I'd like to think of the FlutterDash and Rarijack ships are just friend-ships. /badpun I just don't like the though of them being "together" though. *shudders*

I believe that they are all straight. However, I'm a big fan of FlutterDash. I think it's just a fun little thing that bronies do. It's a tv show so I'm not going to get bent out of shape over it. However, while I love to ship Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash together, if I were a pony, RAINBOW DASH WOULD BE MINE!!

I dislike shipping altogether for MLP. I mean, come on, people. It's marshmallowy colourful ponies. It's already finely treading the line of saccharine, and shippings put it a disgusting magnitude higher.

Reading all the posts...

Shipping =/= rule 34.

Shipping =/= french kisses&shit.

Shipping in general = love, relation and crap like that. What's so disgusting about it?

And that's why Coco fancies shipping.

Well.. one of more reasons...

Eeyup! I like both hetero and same sex shippings, I'll read just about any shipfic that slightly peaks my interest. Although any hetero ships involving Twilight tend to make me jealous...is that a bad thing?

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

For me personally, I don't like the amount of shipping out there, but I don't really care because it doesn't affect me much. But I'm more or less invested in MLP FiM for it's innocence, I don't want to make them all, yeah.

I don't really care who's being shipped with who,as long as it's good.It could be a TwiDashJackMacTom ship for all I care.If it doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth,I could care less who's getting shipped.

I don't know if I really care which one it is, as long as it makes sense or its like a fanfic thats well written then I'll read it, but I've read some fics with the mane 6 paired together, and I've read some good writen ones and some bad written ones.

It doesn't bother me that its one way or the other really, I don't mind lesbian shippings, I also don't mind heterosexual shippings, again as long as they're written well or whatever.

I'm not gonna lie, yes, I like it. But I don't clop to it or something, I do enjoy reading it at times. Mostly with fluttershy and rainbow dash or rarity. There just so damn adorable together!

But I don't see why people argue with it that much.

Hell yeah I like them. In fact, I like a lot of lesbian/yuri shipping. It works for me, for perverted reasons or not. It's...what's the word...more interesting than normal shipping. Of course I'm not one to focus on a lot of romance stuff in general (not anymore; those days are...not really gone, but I'm not obsessed with it like i used to be). But yeah, the MLP lesbian ships would resonate with me better than most ships. Why? Because

I'm kinda neutral on it, it's kinda awkward seeing all of the mane 6 being shipped with each other, the fact that it's a kids show doesn't help, and I'll admit do favor hetero pairings like SoarinDash, CheerieMac or SweetieSpike(all of which are my favorites), but I can't deny that some same sex ships are adorable like TaviScratch(?) or PinkieDash(which probably goes against what I said earlier but w/e). And some people do make pretty good stories with them

I just don't really see the stallions as that big of a part of the show, thus it kinda makes it hard to see anything than lesbi. Oh well, I don't mind the straight either though. Honestly shipping isn't really my ballpark.
