The only only only way I'd accept a Mane 7 is if it's a one-off episode where some new pony to Ponyville is a diehard fan of the Mane 6 from hearing about their battles with Nightmare Moon and Discord where this diehard fan tries too hard to add herself to the group and the Mane 6 tries not to be mean and can't reject her. Then one of them goes overboard and tells the fan to get out and stay away, hurting the fan's feelings, they see how it was mean, apologize, then send dat letter to Princess Celestia.

 

But that's the only circumstance and it's only for 1 episode.

Most likely. Or we can have it be Pinkie Pie for the surprise and lolz since everyone will be suspecting Rainbow. Maybe if the fan is trying to take over Pinkie's place as top party host.

Ah, yeah. Rainbow would be the default but if the person tried to specifically take over the dynamic of one of the other five, it would certainly be them who get's pissed.

Okay... here's the thing:

 

The show's main source of quality, in my opinion, is that fact that they have such-well developed characters and well-balanced dynamic. This is a dynamic with so many combinations (not to mention the 10-15 minor characters and CMC) that it could go on potentially FOREVER. We have barely scratched the surface in terms of interactions between characters, and yet we have seen so much. Why on Earth would we need to add another character? If, at some point, we start to run out, new characters would be nice, but it would just make more sense to shift focus to minor characters or add new elements to characters. If they just start throwing characters in all willy-nilly, then it could total ruin the show.

 

Minor characters, though, I want a LOT more of. Especially stallions, to balance out the femininity of the cast and provide screen-safe love interests. I think minor characters can REALLY help a show, and giving it a solid base of such characters would help elevate it to the level of, say, the Simpson, or Avatar.

It'd be nice for the mane 6 to accompany a male character (or any character for that matter) somewhere, or for said character to have a huge role (Usually these go to antagonists, otherwise they'd be marey-sue heroes most likely if it's a random character, but the writers seem to know what they're doing) but not for said character to become the next mane character of the cast.

Adding a boy would ruin that fact that a girls show can actually be good. Just because there all girls dosent mean its frilly and girly.

I think that it's to late for something like this. Now, I don't mind another male pony maybe even being friends with the Mane six. But , I don't want him to be a Mane character. We should all be worried if there's a 7th member because that could actually kill the show.

They DO need a male as one of the mane six, I mean it seems fair that way.(I bet you if there is a male though, Fluttershy would fall in love with him) Or maybe Spike will become a pony and take on an Element of Harmony
