I made this topic to just let anyone who hasn't heard already that the legends of equestria servers are opening next week! but only for the weekend

 

So who excited to play legends of equestria? I can't wait!!

I've played it, my computer couldn't handle it. I really hate intel. It was pretty cool, although I was easily lost and was only good for roleplays at the time.

Gaaah, this is the second time I can't play the open servers, and for the same reason as the first...stupid exams. >.< Well, hopefully I'll have them over with when it opens for real. From what I've heard and seen on their Twitter page, it looks amazing.

The title is a little misleading. I got excited and thought they had opened for good. I actually attended the last open server weekend and got some footage, which you can see here:

 

 

I'll try to make it to this week's event, but I know last time, it was difficult to log in due to the server being overloaded with traffic. Hopefully they've fixed that issue this time. If not, you may spend you're entire time doing this:

That sounds like an awesome idea! An in-game meetup! It'll be tricky to plan though. First we'll have to figure out who all is up for it, and then we'll have to figure out how to find each other in the game. I can't remember from the last time I played it, but I think there's a way to add friends based on their names. Then maybe we could chat with each other in-game and arrange a meetup place, but then again, it may be better to arrange a place and time beforehand. The only other factor, which we can't control, is everyone being able to log in and be in the game at the same time.

How does it work, what game is it like?

See my previous post for a gameplay video. It's basically a 3D MMO that allows you to make your own pony and explore Equestria. There are various quests or missions you can complete, or you can just explore the world and chat with fellow bronies. One of my favourite experiences from the last event was just hanging out in Sugarcube Corner and dancing to music. (There's a dancing animation/pose, among many others)

 

Is this game available for Mac?

I'm not sure but you can check their downloads page once they make it available tomorrow. (the 17th) http://www.legendsofequestria.com/downloads

If they don't have a Mac version (which is likely since the game is still in development) you may be able to play it anyway by using virtualization software such as CrossOver.

In any case, you'll be able to download the game, but the servers won't open until the 18th at 12:01am EST.

They've taken various steps to avoid copyright issues. For example, as far as I know, there are no direct references to MLP. All characters and places have been renamed. Ponyville is Ponydale, Canterlot is Cantermore, and Sweet Apple Acres is Sweet Apple Orchard. You could say the game very closely resembles the world of MLP, but it's technically not the same.
