Views on Clopfiction

I like to read fanfiction, I'm just not a fan of MLP fanfiction based solely on the subject. Subtle hints are fine, just don't get overly descriptive and I'm fine with that. People can do whatever they want in their spare time, as long as it doesn't affect negatively on those around them.

I actually find it pretty damn hilarious. Not in a belittling sense, or in a hurtful sense, but the very idea that so many people are hating on the idea of clopping, thus making themselves the epitome of hypocrites. In what way, you ask?

 

Love and tolerate. A constant, constant meme and code that we are supposed to live by, and yet most of us cannot even tolerate each other's quirks and fetishes; and we are of the same community.

 

That is what I find hilarious.

You are absolutely right. I watch porn, and have read lemon fics in the past, even read doujins and you know what they can be like. But with ponies i just don't have an interest. its the same reason i tend to avoid darker material, i've seen and even enjoyed some dark stuff, but i don't seek it out. i've never read cupcakes, never seen shed.mov (have seen the rest though), and have no interest in them. hell, i even avoided Friendship is witchcraft for quite awhile because of that.

 

I dunno why, its just this show doesn't lend itself to that kind of material for me.

I do like to read shipping sometimes, but if it's extremely suggestive then I would have to avoid the weirdness as much as possible. I'm fine with reading clopfictions that actually don't have any clopping content in them.

I can understand that it might best to avoid such fictions. I've read cupcakes and I don't mind it as long it is written well. But based upon the show's fanbase, it is obvious to gain some ground to various ideals besides its hunky-dory looks from the show. Heck, I'm writing fictions too with a more dark look but not grim of course.

To each their own. I love shipfictions, some people love grimdark, some like clopfics.

You may think it is bad for them, but that is not a reason to hate them for it.

I read a few before out of curiosity, and one of them had an insanely good story. I mean it was so good that I couldn't stop reading it. I don't really mind clopfics, the sexual stuff doesn't bother me at all.

Instead of just repeating what I said in the other thread about clop, maybe this time I'll add something a bit more personal.

 

To be honest I'm not really a fan of stories about just sex. I've read a few erotic stories from other fandoms I was in, but the only ones I liked were ones where sex was just a device to highlight the love between those involved. That said, I haven't read any clopfics yet (I've read a few romance fics today, but nothing that takes it to the next level), but if I did (and to be honest, it'll probably happen, eventually) I'd probably think the same way. The emotionality of two souls entwining is where the beauty really is in a story. Sex alone...I just can't get into.

 

I've also got this fear that reading too much clop, or the wrong kind, would oversexualize the fannon, and kind of make it difficult to enjoy MLP anymore.

Yeeeeeaaaaaahhh... I dunno. I guess am a pretty frequent reader. I guess over time I have developed sort of... an attraction to them. I love reading fanfics -- of all kinds.

 

The majority of fanfics I've read are run of the mill, clopfic free writing. I think I've read two clopfics and they weren't that bad.

 

So I guess they're fine by me. Just another genre of writing.

I've read some, and have had no problem with them. The real problem isn't the clopfics, it's how people react to them. Some people are just plain rude “Ewww, you're wrong and evil and are going to burn in hell!”, some like to shove it in your face (mostly just constantly annoy you about anything mlp related, I've seen this when I haven't pronounced that I was a brony before), although my favorite ones are the people who say “Whatever you do behind doors in your room is fine by me, as long as you don't shove it into everyone faces.” So that's my take on it.

Frankly put, the fanfiction is hilarious. If it isn't serious, I mock the fanfiction for how hilariously idiotic it is. If it is, then I mock the author for how hilariously stupid it is.

 

It's like really, really badly written porn.

 

Now clopPICS... those I hate with a fiery passion. Why? Because only an idiot spends 5+ hours drawing a vagina on a pastel coloured pony.

I'm tolerant of it. Occasionally I run into a clopfic I like, but they have to be really well written without gross fetishes, featuring ponies I like who are in character. That effectively rules out the majority of clopfics, so you could say I protect myself pretty well from this stuff.

Cloppers are fine and so is most clop fiction, Iv read a few and some of them lean a bit to much towards creepy but some of them are surprisingly well written. So overall I do think its pointless to fight against people who like that sort of content because rule 34 is a thing and always will be so no matter what it is it will always exist in porn form somewhere.

See this alot. I personally dont judge. But I can say that it creeps me out to see. I'd just rather not see it. Considering alot of the following for MLP came from 4chan it doesnt surprise me that so much of this "Clopfiction" exists. That always raises the question "how much is too much" because people dont see a problem writing an RP where a human falls in love with a pony so to a degree isnt that the same thing? To each their own.
