To be fair, I don't think we have seen any non-cute Kirin in the show - but kirin in legend are pretty ill-tempered and really not cute at all, so I can imagine they have some that are non-cute, just like with ponies.

Of the canon Kirin, Autumn Blaze is cutest, of course
