Google Crome (Incognito mode)

Who else here thinks that incognito mode was made explicitly for the general public's porn viewing pleasures? I think google acknowledged the amount of erotica that has been searched up on their search engine and decided to make a tool that makes it more easy to not get caught. Even though I know (but my parents don't) that I can easily type in my router ip and look at every web page that everyone connected to the router visited whether or not there is proof on the actual internet browser. What do you guys think?

Same can be said about Firefox's Private Browsing.

Though it seems superfluous to me when you can still just delete the browsing history.

I personally don't use Chrome, as I've been a fox ever since I can remember, but it sounds like this "Incognito Mode" is like Firefox's "Private Browsing" mode. It's really just a way to keep history and cache from sensitive sites out of one's hard drive. That could be porn, or it could also be online banking. Maybe it's good for some paranoid WikiLeaks user, who knows? In any case it seems useful to me.

Also, just throwing it out here, but... who really cares if someone uses it for porn? :P

When someone explained to me about this Incognito mode, honestly the first thing I got in my head is 4Chan :/

Honestly it's not that hard to delete cookies and history when you don't want someone to find out what kind of sick images you were looking at. Just a few click click and done! But whether the cache was also updated whenever you viewed porn in incognito is questionable, never tried incognito myself

The reason that Incognito was introduced to Google Chrome is that over time, opting to use Incognito over deleting browser history will reduce the cookie deletion rate of the web browser. The more often someone clears out their cookies, the more they reset the values related to behavioural-targeting advertisement, which directly translates into less targeted ads being sold, and more potential revenue lost for Google.

Quite a clever feature when you think about it - though the tactic is arguably just about as dirty as what most people assume the feature is for. :P

Implying you go on WikiLeaks without using a proxy. I mean, come on. That's just asking to get you're IP traced :P

-fun ruining logic-

Uh... Thanks for clearing that up, Swoop. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png

Personally, I don't use the incognito feature ever. Sure, BIG BAD COMPANY GUNNA STEAL MAH INTERNET RIGHTS WITH THEIR COOKIES, but what that really does is enhance the browsing experience. Like, imagine if instead of having ads that related to what you actually look at on the web, you just had some annoying Adult Chat ad (assuming you don't browse porn all day). Might be an exaggeration, but still.

Plus, cookies store a lot of useful information on sites. Such as data that you input, and stuff of that sort. I'm pretty sure the MLP Forums auto login feature uses cookies (or something like cookies) to log you in every time. They really aren't that evil, IMHO. ;_;

*doesn't clear history*

Incognito/Private mode is for whimps who are scared of people finding out they watch porn. Grow some balls and don't be afraid of telling people you like to touch them ;)

I feel different, my Chrone has never been used for anything of the such. My browser history us normal, except for the amount of MLB, deviantart, and MLP forums page visits.

Meh, if I'm looking up naughty stuff I can just manually delete it from the history. I mean, it's really not that hard to do and it keeps other things intact.

I'm also gonna be honest here when I say that this entire thread is making me laugh very, very, very hard.

I always used Firefox's Private Browsing for something a little more devious: Ban evasion. When I get banned, I use a ban evasion technique reliant on nonexistent cache. I simply do a few clicks and clacks, and I'm a brand new person. I think I have been banned from 1 forum 11 times. I'd go back again, but the fun kind of died off.

I sort of like Incognito mode, not for porn (I really don't like porn), but for finding out stuff on websites that you don't or can't fully trust.

Porn is for guys like me, I am 18 years of age, I have had a few girlfriends in the past, and I would like to think I am not exactly ugly (see picture), but I don't have the time nor financial stability to support a girlfriend. So when I get lonely and mister wang doodle decides to stand at attention, porn is my best friend (of course I look at REAL HUMAN porn not pony porn, NEVER PONY PORN)

I am not exactly a stud, but I am definitely not ugly (at least I like to think so)

meh not good enough. Try getting permabanned, hacking the server, getting permabanned again, continue posting on the permabanned account itself, get your mod friend to unban it, become a "bug tester", then becoming a mod yourself, then quitting for the lulz after randomly banning dozens of users.

On topic: I don't use incognito, but on my old computer, I do use private browsing for ponies, because I simply don't want mlpforums as my top site, because I'm a tad paranoid. Same deal with other sites.
